I have been driving a very problematic car for some time now and have visited NUMEROUS automotive repair establishments. Out of all of the ones I have been to, I have never felt more comfortable than with the team here at Astrodome AAMCO. Like I said I drive a Junker, and i was treated like i drove a Rolls. Fast, fair, courteous, efficient, and friendly. Their knowledgeable and courteous staff members are some of the best I have come across. if you are someone who, like me, drives a car that requires lots of ..."attention"...you will definitely find a home at Astrodome AAMCO. Thanks AAMCO!!! It’s still Running!!
Pros: Please see my written review
Cons: none to think of

I just moved to Houston last month to go to school and conveniently, my ’86 Chevy Blazer started making this awful noise if I went over 55mph! My dad is a mechanic in Florida so I am weary about taking my car anywhere – even to get my oil changed. I visited several shops before landing at Houston AAMCO on the South Loop. Chuck, the owner, diagnosed the problem right in front of me and FREE of charge. It turned out to be a minor fix and Chuck even offered to speak to my dad in Florida on the phone about the problem. My dad seemed to think that my Blazer was in good hands and I didn’t blame him. I wasn’t disappointed! I wasn’t conned into unnecessary repairs like I might have been at the other shops that I had visited. The staff was very friendly and nice – the owner’s daughter even gave me a ride back to campus. You don’t see things like this anymore – a family-owned, big-named shop. I will definitely go back if something else happens to my Blazer – although, I will keep my fingers crossed that nothing does! By the way, I am not sure why the person below wrote a negative review. Perhaps they're thinking of another AAMCO shop? I believe there are several others around town.
Pros: Honest and family-owned
Cons: Not my daddy

THIS PLACE CHARGED ME AN ARM AND A LEG & GOT AWAY WITH IT AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S RIGHT. I TOOK MY BILL TO ANOTHER LOCAL SHOP AND THEY LAUGHED HOW MUCH I WAS OVERCHARGED.
Cons: GIRLS BEWARE!

My Volvo occasionally was having problems starting and would have dashlights show up randomly. Of course, I could never get the problem to act up when I was at the car shop. But, at Houston AAMCO, they took my word for it and found problems with the wiring to the alternator and starter. I was a little worried when I heard I needed a wiring harness (sounds expensive!), but Chuck and his mechanics were able to fix the problem without the major expense. Now my car drives like new and I don't have to worry about it dying on the road (with two small kids in the car, no less!). I will definitely be back.
Pros: They're smart guys!
Cons: A little far from my house...

I HATE taking my car to be serviced because of the expense, time, and usually poor level of customer service. Working with Chuck and Bill at AAMCO has changed that for me. I had a major issue with my breaks and they were able to get all the parts the same day and after dropping off my car one afternoon, they came to pick me up at noon the next day with my car running better than it ever has before. I shopped around for the same service and truly believe that they gave me a fair price for exceptional service. They showed me the parts they replaced and I trust their recommendations. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking to have repairs made to their vehicle.
Pros: good description of problems, communication, price, service
Cons: parking is limited

A+ Service and Prices! It is hard to find a quality mechanic in a large city like Houston. This being said, the staff at this AAMCO on S. Loop West is the best that I have come in contact with. With my father being an ex-mechanic, I am familiar with what repairs should cost and the quality of those repairs. Living in Houston has forced me to do most of my own repairs simply because I could not find a mechanic that I could trust. I can honestly say that this is a great place to have your autos repaired. I have even waited a few months before posting this review to ensure the quality of the work that was done on my car. Since then I have had no problems. However, if I had, I am sure that these guys would stand behind their work. No overcharge, Great quality, honest people! I recommend them 100%.
Pros: Quality, Service, Price
Cons: none

I highly recommend AAMCO of Houston. The owner and staff are very friendly, honest, and know what they're doing! I first brought my car in for a second opinion on some repairs that my dealership told me were going to cost over $600. When AAMCO looked at my car, they told me I didn't need anything done at all, and sent me home! And when my Saturn was due for a 60k mile service, I took it there instead of my usual place. They did what needed to be done, and Chuck (the owner) even showed me the parts that he replaced because they were worn out and in dangerous condition. Even with the additional repairs, I walked out having paid less than 1/2 of what I would have paid at the dealership. I definitely trust them to take care of me and my car!
Pros: Service, Cost
Cons: None
