The full menu launched a few months ago or so, and the place has been blowing up. The food is great. You get ample helpings of great bar food with serious efforts made to provide fresh, quality ingredients. I like the unique burgers, and the England meets Texas attitude of the menu.
The beer selection is not huge, but almost every single beer is a top notch selection. They specialize in American micro-brews. Most tend to be VERY high in alcohol and flavor. If you are a hop-head, this is your bar. Rumor has it he's getting capability to distribute a cask conditioned ale soon.
The Monday beer tastings are legendary. Too bad they are so exclusive and infrequent these days now that
Those poor saps working there need some help. I see the same 2 guys working there every time I'm there.
- Pros: Beer Connoisseur's Delite
- Cons: Parking
I thought it was a coffee house.

A run of the mill place, the bartender was inhospitable, even after the fact I explained this was the first time in. I went on a Saturday night around 11:30. I think there were 4 people in the place and a table of people outside (dead by my standards). The clientele was younger and seemed to have the "I"m cooler than you attitude." The bartender left from behind the bar to go out back and drink beer. I tried to make conversation about music choices that were playing but it was like hitting a great big old bell and getting a clank! A real ladies feminine wash! The service was okay. I hate it when you are had to feel like your bothering someone. Maybe it was an off night? Final thoughts, I was in the catering business and a bartender for few years. Yes I saw it. I wouldn't go back again......
- Pros: a place to go in the nieghborhood.
- Cons: younger crowd.
Very relaxing

I have been coming to this place for 2 years now. It hold a wonderful memory for me because I met my very best friend there.
Ok, so there isn't much of a beer selection, but there are other selections for beverages. However, the atmosphere is relaxing...that is the key! Unlike Onion Creek and those other places, this place is not loud and you can actuall hear what the person your are with is saying! The patio area is great and so is the inside and the owner has been improving on it on a daily basis. I know because I usually pass there on my way to pick up my child from school.
The Onion Creek is very "stuffy" to me and when I am no in the "stuffy" mood, I like this place.
Also, up the street there are two or three more places to go hang out.
The fact that this is within a neighborhood is wonderful and it is also safe. There is a neighborhood police around. Again, it is also relaxing and friendly and clean.
Only a Neighborhood Dive.

Read up on this place on city search. The reviews might have hyped it up too much. It's just a your local neighborhood dive - nothing to go out of your way to find. Beer selection is nothing, 4 random beers on tap, and they weren't even cheap! Food was marginal, atmosphere was casual and well... I basically felt like I was in some radom person's house eating their food on dixie plates. And not in the 'cool laid-back' way - but in the 'awkward, lets hurry up and finish so we can leave' way.
If you live within 2 miles, go check it out meet your neighbors, otherwise head over to Onion Creek, which is similar but a much nicer place to hangout for a couple of hours.
- Pros: I hear they have live music sometimes? They have a patio.
- Cons: Atmosphere, low beer selection, pricey beers, food
Oak Forest hangout boasts a charming outdoor patio and varied beer selection.

In Short
A former gas station in this sprawling neighborhood gets a makeover as a coffeehouse and laidback bar scene. With a large wooden patio wrapping around the building, a mixed crowd of young couples with kids and area regulars come to sit and sip on coffee drinks or linger for lunch. The food can be ordered all day long and includes a full breakfast menu, sandwiches, pizzas and more. The selection of beers on tap is well above average.
