Tuesday Fajita Special

by ladygold at Citysearch

I had a "gift certificate" from in hand when we went last Tuesday, but we've saved it until we go back - which we more assuredly will - because the fajitas were on sale. Good margaritas, nice and tasty wine with generous pours, yummy tortillas and very nicely done fajitas. Service was prompt and pleasant.

  • Pros: Half price fajitas
  • Cons: none

Food is Excellent, Service Not So Much

by lucysmom129 at Citysearch

The food here is amazing.

The service is a different story. The majority of the waitstaff is very rude. There is one red headed waiter who I've had several times at both lunch and dinner who is the worst waiter I've ever had ANYWHERE. He has a major attitude problem, rolls his eyes, and asks put off that you expect him to do his job and take your order!

The chip/bus boys are more helpful and friendly in refilling your drinks and chips/salsa than the actual waiters! Too bad they don't get the tips!

good, solid Tex-Mex

by ajishi at Citysearch

I have been coming here for the past 2 years and it is our favorite local tex-mex place.

Although the menu has changed a little since I started going(miss those fried mushrooms), the food has always been fresh and tasty. Even for take-out! Try the fajitas, enchiladas or the tamales. We usually order all three for our family and it is more than plentiful. The service can be a little slow, but it is usually busy so it is understandable.

  • Pros: good food, drinks and bar
  • Cons: can get a little crowded

poor service & waitstaff with an attitude

by stmkr at Citysearch

I was looking forward to a reunion with my friends and thought that this would be a good place to meet. Little did we know that we would be treated so rudely! First we were told that happy hour drink prices were only available at the bar and in certain areas of the restaurant. The extremely rude waiter at our table would not hand us menus to order food from or even bring us glasses of water after we asked for them. After literally begging our waiter for the menus, I placed my order and the waiter told me he needed his menu back immediately and refused to allow me to hand it to another member of our party so that she could place her order. After a long wait, the food we received was bland and partially cold. After experiencing further rude behavior from the waitstaff, our party decided to leave. After requesting our bill at least 3 times, we had to wait another hour and a half before he rudely brought it to our table. After paying, and leaing a generous tip, another member of the waitstaff came out and rudely told us that we had left money on the table and handed us another bill with a dollar inside. When I returned the folder to all of the waitstaff standing around the hostess stand, I was told to get out and that I was never to return to the restaurant again. I think the owner needs to rethink the caliber of staff working for him both in the kitchen and as waiters. Incidentally, since our table made up the majority of patrons in the place, I think this speaks volumes why customers are not willing to face the same rude, ill mannered personnel we did that act as the ambassadors of this establishment.

  • Pros: parking
  • Cons: waitstaff, food, restricted seating for happy hour prices

I have never been so insulted....

by maggiebxr at Citysearch

Always looking for a new hangout for our monthly "reunion", myself and 8 classmates were looking forward to our evening at Terlingua this evening. Our waiter began our evening by telling us that we were not able to order happy hour drinks at the table that we were sitting at so, even though there were to be 8+ of us, we moved to one of their round tables with barstools vs. the long table we originally sat at. Once here, we had to go out of our way to ask him to now take our drink orders. Once our group showed up and we ordered appitizers, we had no choice but to move to a larger table and to walk to the bar since we did not qualify for the happy hour drinks due to our sittng at the table again. With each trip to the bar came evil looks by our waitier as he leaned against a counter. Our service continued to extremely poor, with one of us having to ask for the ticket three times before receiving it. I personally went up to our waiter to ask him to take my portion off the ticket and the remainng members of our party putting their money in all together.

We all put in over what our entrees were to be, but certianly not more than the standard tip of 15% since as far as I knew, tips were based on SERVICE and ours was exceptionally poor. As we were all standing outside saying our goodbyes, our waiter came out the door, walked up to one of us and handed her the folder telling her that this was the amount that we all left on the table. Another member went back inside and was met by the hostess and when she tried to explain that our tip was not a reflection on the food, but on the service and that she frequented there several times a month the hostess then told her to LEAVE and NOT TO COME BACK, all the while making gestures with her hands as if to shoo her away.

Coming from a customer service background, you treat your customers how you want your own mom to be treated, with the exception of the bartender, I feel sorry for all of their mothers.

Save your money.

Worse service ever..

by ktc28 at Citysearch

I went to this restaurant with 2 friends and we chose to sit outside. We experienced terrible service - it took ages to get a drink refill and we went to fetch the bill because it took so long! This was after one friend asked for a blue cheese&bacon steak and it came without the blue cheese or the bacon! When he pointed this out - the server returned with a side dish of ranch dressing and no offer to bring a new steak or the bacon! I won't go back unless I hear that the service has improved - even though the food that came (!) was good enough.

  • Pros: Average food, nice interior decor
  • Cons: Service, balcony on a parking lot

The folks behind Cyclone Anaya's bring their festive Tex-Mex fare to the Heights.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Crisp, modern Mexican-style décor goes perfectly with a menu that exceeds the local Tex-Mex standard at this upscale casual spot owned by Cyclone Anaya's son. The usual suspects are present on the oversize menu alongside original items like chicken Lajitas with creamy spinach artichoke, Mexican pizza, old-fashioned burger baskets, wraps and comforting Gulf Coast specialties like chicken fried fajita steak, catfish and shrimp. The full bar churns out expert margaritas while the outdoor patio is a lively and festive.

pretty much delicious all around

by brownies432 at Citysearch

All I have to say is that place is amazing. The service is great, the quality of their food is very good, and it is a very fun place to hang out at overall. If your looking for a night to hang out with all your frinds bring them here you won't regret it, and if you are just looking for a nice date place perfect for that occasion also. I highly recommend branching out and trying the fabulous place.

  • Pros: great everything
  • Cons: its really addicting
