Don't Schedule Events Here!
by QueenElectric at Citysearch
We had booked the entire restaurant for 80+ guests months in advance of the event, but when reconfirming a month prior to the dinner, they claimed they could not honor the booking to close the restaurant down, but would only "rope off" an area or give us the patio (right by Kirby Drive!!!), as the manager who booked the dinner was no longer employed there. No apologies, no remorse, extremely rude and arrogant about it. Fortunately we were able to secure a fabulous location and caterer so the event turned out even better. Guess they didn't mind losing the business. PS I was required to give at least one star rating - my preference would be NO stars.
- Cons: Reneged on Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Booking
Horrible custoemr service, at bar and valet
by Kristen26 at Citysearch
Bartenders are rude. Very short and not nice at all. Seem annoyed that you are there.
Valet rude - when I asked for change for a ten, they said "ok, so 5 back" NO! I asked for change for a ten! Not five! When I said no, change for a ten, give me 9 back, the valet said, "Come on, at least 8" Really?! Are you kidding me?! This could have ended much nicer, but it is completely rude to contradict my tip, or even to assume a $5 tip in the first place. I just lost my job on Friday and was there to visit a past colleague. I only used the valet in the first place because there were NO PARKING SPACES. Horrible parking too, now that I think about it.
- Pros: Serve drinks
- Cons: service is horrible
Terrible place with worst manager ever
by ustomer at Citysearch
Manager has no neck and no morals and manager is a ridiclous fockhead and egoist. Owner obviously does not care as they leave the manager in place.
- Pros: nothing
- Cons: manager is a ridiclous fockhead and egoist

AWESOME Ambiance

The food is pretty good, but Goode Company BBQ is right across the parking lot, and I rather thier food, but the after hours at The Armadillo is great! Good beer, good people, GREAT music! It feels like it a small town beer house, in the middle of a big city. I love it!
- Pros: Beer, music, social
- Cons: Parking!!!
Spotty
by SquintyEyes at Citysearch
I have only been to the Armadillo Palace when the bands are playing, so I can't speak for lunch or dinner, but the service is pretty spotty at night. Sometimes you can get your drinks quickly - sometimes not. I once sat at the bar with a $20 in my hand for about 15 minutes waiting for someone to ask me what I wanted. And I've had other people's drinks added to my tab when I sat at a table.
The music is usually REALLY loud and it's impossible to see the band unless you get there early and get a table right in front of the stage area. There is no dancefloor, but they do move some upfront tables to make room. They do have good bands though.
On a positive...the food is really pretty good. I've had trhe venison chili several times and highly recommend it.
- Pros: food is pretty good
- Cons: service is usually slow and indifferent
Kirby honky-tonk with flavorful Texas fare, Old West museum decor and Southern hospitality is hard to miss with the massive, red-eyed armadillo out front.

In Short
With ice-cold beer, saddle barstools and cowboy memorabilia, the Armadillo Palace appeals to those in search of a traditional Texas meal, served up in a dining room that's as much a museum of Texana as it is a saloon. Menu highlights include Tex-Mex inspired appetizers, traditional Goode's barbecue and juicy, half-pound burger dressed with all manner of cheesy, spicy or grilled toppings. Past the game room and whiskey bar is the patio where you'll find the occasional crawfish boil.
Great place to hang out and chill!

Best live music in Houston!!!
by Hanashgab at Citysearch
Armadillo Palace is awesome! Had never been here before last week when some friends talked me into going after the rodeo. The band was great and it's just such a fun place. Great crowd! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a fun, laid-back place without all they typical Houston "see and be seen" nonsense...
haphazard service

The food was fine, but I was with a large group, and a couple of the meal orders got mixed up, my meal was skipped altogether, and we had trouble all night to get more beers. (Tea replenishing was efficient, though.) Our bill on leaving had a couple of desserts which had never arrived, but the last straw was when the valet parkers lost my ticket and then could not find my car, and I had to go walk to the lot, use my extra key to get the number off the dashboard, come back for keys, and then retrieve the car. Probably 25-30 minutes for this fiasco.
