If you haven't seen the decorated cakes coming out of wish bakery you are missing a site to be seen!!! There are cutouts of just about anything you can imagine. And the cupcakes....adorable doesn't even explain it! Want a pig? Want a lucky ladybug or a croaking frog???? Any thing you can imagine someone there is creating. It reminds me of some incredible cakes from a few years ago at another bakery, just can't remember which one it was. Check it out!!! You won't be disappointed.

I shop at the Wish Bakery outlet on S. Rice in Bellaire. I have to give it a good review because I rarely pass by it without stopping for some peanut butter cookies. Their peanut butter cookies are the grown up version of Grandma's peanut butter cookies I used to eat as a kid. They are robust with a deep peanut butter flavor with sugar on the top. They do not contain peanut slices and they are not overly sweet. In fact, the cookies and cakes from Wish are not drenched in sugar. Their sugarless cookies taste just like the regular. One criticism of Wish concerns product freshness. I've bought cookies that were stale. They probably don't use preservatives. The best cookies come from full trays. The cakes I've pruchased win praise at lunches and meetings - consistently fresh and flavorful.
Pros: good location and product variety
Cons: Checkout is not quick; every item is inventoried in the register

The owner is very nice, and if she makes a certain item, you can request it ahead of time. She is also always adding new selections. The carrot cake is really good. The street is kinda hard to find. It is only 1 block long, but well worth it!

The sweets here are excellent and the service very friendly. For those on special diets (lowfat, lowcarb, diabetic, vegan), Wish has tons of options. I bought a sugar free almond cake for a diabetic family member, some low fat, sugar free biscotti type cookies for myself and they were both delicious. They also gave me (free) some gluten free cookies to give to a friend with wheat allergies. The location is a little hard to find, in a warehouse district. It's a wholesale and retail bakery in a warehouse, so there it is not a place to sit and eat, but it is a place to stock up on a lot of fresh goodies.
Pros: delicious pastries, service with a smile, prices are good.
Cons: location, in a warehouse
