best happy hour
by ccwill
The best happy hour sushi in town! The service is the worst- but the food is good and the service is fast. Try the crunch sushi and the baked mussels- YUMMY!
- Pros: prices
- Cons: service
This is where my paycheck goes!!!
by jayzcc83
this place is the best sushi. I go there at least every pay period sad but true. Food is always excellent and the service is freindly and very attentive. I found out about this place 3 years ago and have made all of my family and freinds sushi lovers because of this place. The only downfall would have to be its not close to sugarland. Maybe thats good so i won't eat here everyday. LOLZ
- Pros: cheap high quality sushi
- Cons: small place
awesome happy hour
by daisychain
I love this little sushi cafe. The atmosphere is relaxed and the servers are friendly. The happy hour is awesome. I think the large hot sake is $3 and the appetizers are buy one get one free. Couple those with some $1 sushi pieces and you have a full meal for ten bucks. There can be a wait if you get there around six, but it's totally worth it!
- Pros: $1 sushi
- Cons: none
Not as good as the reviews said
by YvonneB26
Was very reluctant to try this place. My instincts were right. I ordered to go - the rice was burnt, the salad dressing horrible and the rolls tasted funny.
- Pros: close to the office
- Cons: slow service, sushi/rolls not so good
Love this place

I eat sushi pretty often and when I'm craving some, I default to Oiishi. I don't know of a better sushi joint for happy hour than Oiishi. Their $4, buy-one-get-one happy hour menu is pretty basic, but they make the food right. And the beer is amazingly cheap during happy hour. Aside from the happy hour, the all their other sushis are good too. I've gotten their combos pretty often and haven't been disappointed yet.
What I don't like? The parking lot is tiny, you'll probably have to wait to get seated, and the service is hit-or-miss.
Bottom-line: I'll be back for more!
- Pros: Price, happy hour, good food, service
- Cons: Parking, waiting, service
Awesome place
by CSMobileUser
We went on a friday night at 9 pm and had to wait about 30 min. The place was hopping and the space is limited. The food was excellent. The prices were amazing for the price
Great sushi for the price!!
by Max2006
Everything is great! The prices, the sushi cuts, service, and beer! The sushi cuts are thick and fresh! The only negative is the parking. They also have a great lunch menu! HIGHLY recommended!!!
- Pros: Sushi, beer, service
- Cons: wait and parking
Best Hole in the Wall Cheap Sushi Restaurant
by supervy
Seriously it doesn't get better than this. I hate to give away great hole in the wall but I feel like I owe it to Oishii. The restaurant is tiny but if you look past it, happy hour (with buy one get one free appetizers including some sushi rolls) it totally worth it. My recommendation is the Gyoza which are the pan fried pork dumplings. They're not your traditional frozen potstickers out of a pag. The spicy sauce that accompanies it is delicious. Plus, it's only 4 bucks and during happy hour you can get a different appetizer for free. Non happy hour prices are $3 for regular rolls, $1 for MOST sushi pieces, and $7 bucks for a speciality roll. My personal favorite is the Oishii roll. It's like a Volcano roll with a twist. Anyways, drink specials are like 2 bucks during happy hour for domestics and imports as well as $3 for sake. Yes, I have the menu memorized. Just get there early because this place will get packed fast during happy hour times. It's not the best sushi, not the biggest portions, but it's definitely fresh and well worth the money.
- Pros: Affordable sushi
- Cons: Parking when it gets packed
Stellar Sushi
by miguelUT
I live about a block from this place and I go there probably twice a week. I have seen other reviews mention the word "posh" and I have to say, if you are looking for a "posh" place, please do not go to Oishii. There are a couple of reasons for that: 1) Oishii is more concerned with how the food tastes and less with how the restaurant looks (A few comments down you'll see a post about bland food. I have never had this experience at Oishii, but I guess be warned that some people think this food is bland). 2) Generally, I find that people who prefer "posh" places lack the capacity to appreciate the authentic atmosphere of a place like Oishii. So if you are looking for "posh" I will have to suggest something like RA Sushi or, heaven forbid, Sushi King, where you can feel pretentious and snooty to your heart's delight. However, if you want superior sushi at a great price, and you want to watch some Ninja Warrior on the tube, then Oishii is the place for you. I highly recommend the Stella roll and the Fuji maki. They are out of this world. (Warning, though, the Fuji maki has warm mayonnaise on it, which tends to be a turn off for some traditionalists). I also recommend that Hamachi ngiri (that's yellow-tail for those of you requiring translations) and the ameibi (sweet shrimp).
So long and short of it. If you're the type of person who pays the $20 cover charges on a regular basis to get into the "posh" Houston night-life scene, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. However, if you are the type of person that can be seen at Rudyard's or Lola's (or countless other dives), this is the sushi bar for you.
- Pros: Price, Quality, Service
- Cons: Parking, but you can park on Cummins and walk, so it's not that bad.
THE ABSOLUTE BEST

I have been a fan of Oishii for a few years. Service is fast and professional. Rolls are fantastic and have great flavor. I have eaten at many other sushi restaurants in Houston and I always go back to Oishii. Nothing can compare!
- Pros: Cheap, Fresh
- Cons: Parking
