Great Setting, Average Food

Very nice setting with a great view from the top story of the Moody Gardens' Hotel. Service was great as well. But the food didn't match setting. The portions were small and the food was nothing to get excited about, especially for the price. I was expecting a great desert at the least, but they too were boring.

Island residents know that one of the nicest fine dining establishments around is on the ninth floor of Moody Gardens Hotel. Executive chef Urs Schmid's menu features continental cuisine heavy on the seafood. Smithsonian artifacts, Italian glass sculptures and dark wood paneling add to Shearn's sophisticated elegance.

Suggest making reservations after sunset. Get there early and have pre-dinner drinks in the lounge while admiring the breathtaking sunset. It's truly a wonderfully relaxing experience.

I can't say enough about how good the food was. Taste and presentation was excellent, but a bit pricy for the amount of food given.

My wife and I truly enjoy the atmosphere and the hospitality that Shearns has to offer. The service is always first class and the food is perpared wonderfully. In our years of dining out , this is by far a wonderful experience.
