Not just for guys... great cuts and color for ladies too!

I was a little hesitant going in, I was the recipient of a godawful cut and color from a "nicer" place... and then realized a lot of reviews were from guys...

I needed color urgently and a bit of a trim. No waiting for weeks, it was when I wanted to. The color turned out better than at some of the better known places in town. They did exactly what I asked for the trim. Damaris and her mother did an excellent job.

The store was clean, the service was friendly, I was continuously offered beverages, and the price was more than reasonable, considering I received better service here than at one of the more higher priced "spas" in town.

I will never go to another salon again!

Best Hair Salon in Town

I made a hair appointment last minute at the end of the day for a cut and color and they fit me in no problem. We worked out together exactly the type of cut and color I wanted, and they executed it flawlessly.

Just moved to Houston so I'm glad I found this place.

Shannon is great

i recently moved to Houston and met Shannon, I had been going to the same girl ever since coloring my hair so it was hard to switch but I needed my hair done. Shannon is very funny and friendly and I just had a good time when my hair was being done. And my hair looks great, good color and not dry at all. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Trust Shannon--she's seriously amazing!!!

I just moved here and I felt lost without my hairstylist and I am SO glad I listened when a friend suggested Midtown. Luckily, I stumbled into Shannon's chair and she took great care of me! I wanted a brighter, blonder, more flattering look and I am thrilled with my new hairstyle!! I think I found a new favorite...sorry to my former stylist....but seriously, ladies, GO SEE SHANNON!!

Outstanding Service, Quallity Products, Reasonable Cost

I am a man in my late 40's. I had an important job interview in early January and realized as the date approached that it might be good to get rid of some of the gray in my hair. I called Midtown Hair Studio and they were able to fit me in the same day for a hair color appt. Damaris was great! She carefully selected the color and sought the opinion of her colleagues and I to make sure it was a good match to my natural color. She used high quality Aveda product. No intoxicating fumes and the whole process (hair, mustache and goatee) was completed (start to rinse out) within 30 minutes. I was very pleased with the result! Cost: $40! Damaris trimmed my hair up a bit so I would look my best for the interview. BTW - I got the job! I have found a great place for all of my future hair care needs at Midtown Hair Studio. The quality of customer service was outstanding!

Great Service and Haircut

I have been to every cheap haircut place in my neighborhood...and have given up actually finding someone who can cut my hair at a $15 price point...it always ends up terrible...always...

So I jumped online to try to find a place in Houston that specialized in Men's hair...and think I've found the right place...Price was lower than another salon (Utla) I went to a while back...and the service and cut were way better. Damaris actually took her time to talk to me and learn about what I was looking for in a style (long enough to cover a pretty gnarly scar on my head)...after talking for about 5 minutes she started in and let me know what she was going to do next at each point in the cut to make sure she was on the right track...

Love the hot towel and wash...appreciate the nice atmosphere...willing to make the drive from Katy to keep going there...and would totally recommend this to any guy looking for a good cut...

Hairstyling is a Art and a Craft. There are few who realise that. And, Damaris Blunt is one.

I am male. My male friends tease me about being as exacting as a female celebrity about my haircut! They are somewhat justified, because I believe that your hair is an integral part of your face; it is has its own features and characterstics that are like your fingerprints - er.. hairprint. It texture and its curves and bends are like your fingerprints; no matter what you do, they quickly revert to their original natural state. Few hairdressers realise that; and even among those who do realise that, even fewer are able to manage and maintain your hair and its natural style.

When I moved from Brussels (BELGIUM) to Houston, TEXAS, one of the European feature I missed was the artful and crafty work that my hairdresser performed on my hair on a fortnightly basis. However, I haircut is an item that you need as much as you need a shirt or a neck tie (and I can't speak for women). Hence, I desperately sought the services of several different barbers, and each one just butchered and amputated my hair. However, my appearance did pass the requirements as regards trim hair. On the other hand, I neither looked nor felt like my true self. I was somebody else. At times, I even may have looked and behaved like somebody else.

One day, I accidentally stumbled on to a business card of Midtown Hair Studio. I thought that now that there was nothing to lose, I could after all give them a try. I made an appointment and went there. It is was a family owned business: Mommy Josie and Daughter Damaris. Damaris sat me in the chair, and while chatting me up, examined my hair; something other professionals in Houston had never done. That is when it clicked. I knew that this lady knew what she was going to do. I handed my head and hair to her, and said: "Do what you want to do. Use your inspiration."

I have been back many times since that hot day in April 2008. She is an Artist and a Craftswoman. I just keep my mouth shut and wallet open. That is the trust she has elicited from me.

• Pros: Outskirts of Downtown; plentry of cost-free parking space in the street; Fine cottage.
• Cons: You can get addicted to their hospitality.

Great service, great haircut

Their shop is located in a remodeled house, with very comfortable chairs in the waiting area as well as sodas, water, coffee, etc. available for free. The ladies there are incredibly nice, and give a great haircut at a very reasonable price. I recommend Damaris.

MidTown Hair Studio, is the best place in MidTown to get

your haircut. I've been their customer for the past five years .

Ive' had a haircut by the owner, the daughter and the other stylists,

I haved always been very pleased. When I get this very cute girl

named Tinelle she gives you a shoulder massage and a hot

towel over your face while you get a shampoo that feels so relaxing.

What is also so cool, is that the minute you walk-in they greet you

with a warm smile and ask, would you like something to drink??

check this out ( a budlight?) a coke? or water?) if busy they will

direct you to the refrig (just help yourself) I highly recommend this

place to anyone, trust me ( this cozy bungalow salon makes

you feel at home) ( One Of It"s Kind) Always very clean and

A/C nice and cool. Winter time is my favoite cause they turn the

fire place on ,so relaxing. That is why we all satisfied customers

voted for MidTown Hair Studio as the best barber shop in Houston

and Editorial Winner.
