I bought a birthday cake for a party and it was just excellent...staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Cakes are delicious and taste of authenticity and care. I will absolutely come back to this great place!

My office always orders their cakes from Rustika Cafe (very delicious, btw), but I have never been to Rustika to eat before. That all changed this Mother's Day when my family and I went for breakfast. I was absolutely blown away from the moment I set foot inside. As soon as you enter you are greeted by rows and rows cookies, cakes and pastries. If you can pull yourself away from all of the sweets you can imagine, you come face to face with an amazing menu. Although they had a lunch and dinner menu, I was there for breakfast. The migas immediately caught my eye. Granted, there were many other things I wanted to try, but I consider myself a bit of a migas connoisseur. Rustika Cafe did not disappoint. A perfect combination of eggs and tortillas, the flavor was a warm embrace. It got better with every bite. The plate comes with a slice of toast that is baked in-house. The portion was plentiful yet not overwhelming. The eggs were perfectly cooked so as to melt with each bite. Rustika Cafe has the most delicious migas I have ever had. If you haven't had the opportunity to experience breakfast at Rustika Cafe, you are missing out. I recommend the migas!

  • Pros: Divine breakfast menu

We came out on 5/30/7 & 5/31/7 to work on the air conditioning unit. The bill was $1,623.47 and they made a payment of $623.47 but will not pay the remainder. The motor itself was $641.25, labor was $858.50 and the tax was $123.72. The customer was advised I would write a review via email as they will not accept or mail. In addition, they will not return phone calls. I suggest if you perform work for this company, you get the money up front.

Thank you,

Brian

I called in to Rustika cafe in an attempt to organize a birthday breakfast for me and 15 of my friends. Not only did I call the day before, but I suggested a reservation a full hour before the bakery even opened. The people at Rustika cafe were insanely accommodating, going out of their way to put together a small party in little more than 12 hours notice. Needless to say, I was shocked by the friendliness of these people and their willingness to help me out. Oh, and besides the great people the food is obviously amazing! I definitely recommend Rustika cafe.

  • Pros: accommodating staff, great food
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

This is a little late to write but we bought my daughters wedding cake here in 2005 and it was absolutely wounderful. It had a raspberry filling and all the guests really raved about it.

Our company orders from them all the time. Usually the cake is amazing, but they are always late! Plus they will not come into the building....you must go to them. I ordered a cake and got a montrosity! When I told them I didnt want it and I wanted a credit they said they would come pick up the cake; which they never did. After questioning them on when I would get a credit I was first insulted by being told I ate the cake, then they said I was just arguing with them cause I didnt want to pay them! That cake was so hard it sounded like a brick when you tap on the side. They never came to get it. I threw it away before I left. Like I said normally the cake is the best in town.....but you got to deal with their HORRIBLE service.

This is also a great spot for brealfast and lunch. Good breakfast burritos, a wide assortment of soups and sandwiches. Always friendly, fast service. Try it, you will be surprised.

In Short
Mexico City native Francis Reznick and her artistic Mexican bakers/cooks turn flour and eggs into magical morsels. Sample Mexican danishes with cream cheese, apricot and raspberry preserves (pair with Cuban coffee or a chocolate mocciana). Fresh-baked empanadas include pumpkin sprinkled with cinnamon, scrumptious chicken with peas and lush spinach. Count on a real Mexican bakery to deliver mouth-pleasing migas and intensely flavorful potato soup. Savor an artisan cookie--lemon cornmeal, almond butter or Mexican wedding--for dessert.

there aren't very many bakeries in houston ... or very many that also serves as a cafe as well. you'll be pleasantly surprised to find a huge assortment of delicious goodies to choose from, all decently and reasonably priced. so far everything we have tried has satisfied our palettes. also a cute place for lunching or chilling with a friend.*

  • Pros: delicious pastries!

Arandas is pretty much the big player in Mexican bakeries, here in Houston - but I prefer Rustika. More subtly flavored than the stuff from Arandas, I like their artisan pastries, especially the empanadas. The staff are warm and efficient, and the coffee here is great, too!
