Never disappointing.

Good sandwiches! Really good gelato! Great quiche! Fizzy lemonade! Plenty of items to distract you even if you are dining alone. Someone commented they didn't find this place kid friendly but they have mini furniture... toys... come on parents... it is a cafe that people without kids also want to enjoy so be fair... it's not meant to be a playground even if it is kid friendly.
- Pros: Good food, drinks, snacks
- Cons: not really a con but there are always kids.
Great Cafe!

Cricket's is a wonderful and very kid-friendly place! I always have received a warm greeting from John, the owner, as well as the staff. The food is excellent, the price is good and I know that I'm supporting a local business when I'm there!
- Pros: Everything!
Great IceCream, Rude Owner
by houstonnew
Ice Cream and Gelato are delicious. Unfortunately, owner is rude and not sensitive to young ones. Hold themselves out as kid friendly, but a farce. Whimsical, fun atmosphere ruined by stifling attitude.
Outstanding!

Crickets is a great place to get some fantastic veggie food and hang out a while then walk around and check out some of the antique, clothing and gift shops on the block.
Breakfast available all day! They have a to-die-for veggie sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. I got mine with tomato on a croissant. Waffles (with banana or strawberries) are also amazing. Their iced soy lattes are wonderful. Also a full lunch menu, ice cream, pastries and small gift shop section in the store.
The owner and staff are really friendly.
There are a variety of seating options here so you can really get cozy and hang out at this place. There is shaded outdoor seating in front. They keep a dog water dish full so you can bring your pooch. There is a small children's area inside with a kid's table, kid's chairs, some toys and children's books in the main eating area. There's also a cool hang-out area with about 5 tables of seating in the back that is for grown-ups only. The tables by the front windows are also for grown-ups only b/c the window glass there is antique (read: fragile).
Easy street parking.
- Pros: breakfast all day, outdoor seating, kid's area
- Cons: none
Delicious and fun!

My 7-year-old loves this place! Delicious gelato, friendly service, tasty avocado sandwiches and to-die-for smokey tomato salad dressing. The decor is funky Heights whimsical. Great lunch destination or a Saturday gelato and pumpkin latte stop. We're regulars.
- Pros: Warm atmosphere and delicious food
- Cons: May have to wait during peak times

Eclectic Heights purveyor of specially made coffee, soups and ice cream.

The Scene
This homegrown deli-cum-coffeehouse and ice creamery perfectly complements the vintage shops and quirky vibe of 19th Street. Vivid yellow diner tables, bold red deco chairs and bright green walls add to the vibrant atmosphere.
The Food
Homemade vegetarian soups are knockouts, served daily with a choice of multigrain-five-seed or rosemary-sourdough bread and a topping of either shredded Parmesan cheese or sour cream. Mushroom-tomato-barley, split pea and vegetarian chili are popular. Cuvee Coffee's espresso blend forms the base for superb lattes and cappuccino drinks. The long list of beverages includes chai tea, frappes (mocha or vanilla base with a chocolate or caramel swirl, topped with whipped cream) and green tea smoothies. Cricket's offers six ice cream flavors and three daily varieties of inventive gelatos and sorbettos. The coconut and cappuccino gelatos and the raspberry and mango sorbettos are favorites. The restaurant also offers a host of fresh pastries from Whole Foods Bakehouse.
