I've been to several salons over the years and have been searching for the best mani/pedi & found it at Roula's. I've read over other reviews "from doctors" stating that Roula's promotion of their sterilization is overrated, etc. and I find those comments rather disturbing. I recently had an infection from a "nice salon" located in the Los Cuco's shopping centre on Memorial near Westcott and after that experience, no price is too much for sanitation and my health. Is paying $20 - $30 bucks over regular price not worth your health? Roula's is a mini-nail oasis with a professional and friendly staff who are not your average nail techs. You are greeted in a friendly open atmosphere and the nail techs, depending on what type of mani/pedi you select, take time & care to complete the service; you keep the polish you use for touch ups; no one other than the customers say a word while the service is being performed; every tool used is sanitized & disinfected. At other salons, have you ever noticed the familiar popsicle stick sitting on top of the wax machine? Or how about having a nail technician (while on her cell phone) bring over the hot parrafin wax dish for you to put your hands AND feet in; the same dish of wax that others used? Yes, that would be a violation of the TDLR - definitely not the case at Roula's. Taking that into consideration & after the horrible experiences I have had in the past, this is the best nail salon by far in Houston & they have a customer for life.
Pros: Professional; great service; CLEAN CLEAN

As a maid-of-honor, I booked pedicures at Roula's in March 2008 for a small bachelorette celebration (3 girls). None of us had ever been there before. The entire experience: foot soak, aromatherapy, iced tea, massage, etc. was exceptional. They had the 3 of us sitting together in a row so we could chat while getting our pedicures. Everything was immaculate; they even clean their instruments in a medical-grade autoclave (impressive to the 3 of us who are infection-wary physicians/surgeons). We got to choose our own shade of nail polish (I picked Sao Paulo, a beautiful dark color), and they sent us home with the rest of the bottle. The cost was $50 per person, not including tip. Before choosing Roula's, I called around town and found that the average price for a pedicure at a nice salon is about $30-40. Roula's is significantly more expensive, but for a special occasion and for the service you get, it's worth every penny. It's now been more than a month, and my pedicure is only just beginning to fade. I would recommend Roula's to anyone planning a girls' day/night out.
Pros: Professional, Relaxing, CLEAN
Cons: Expensive

I've never had a better manicure/pedicure experience than my experiences at Roula's- it's the most santiary, the most relaxing, and the most luxurious- and that's not just in Houston. I love that you get to keep the bottle of polish for touch-ups, that you can have a drink while you have your treatment- even the music is amusing and relaxing, without being intrusive. It's a bit pricey for regular visits, but I wouldn't call it over-priced, by any means. Just wonderful- a gift certificate here would make a wonderful gift.
Pros: Beverage service, dental grade sterilization
Cons: more expensive than your average mani/pedi

You'll often find Roula, the owner, working behind the counter of her nail spa. She's happy to spend time telling new customers about the services offered or the extensive measures taken to keep the salon instruments sanitized. After having a nice, relaxing manicure and a chat with Roula, I decided to make this my regular place. I really appreciate when service industry proprietors pay such close attention to detail. For instance, the salon is decorated very beautifully, there is always great music playing, and you get a commplementary drink menu as soon as you arrive. My favorite treatment is the spa manacure with the Ginger & White Tea sent - fabulous!!
Pros: Great Service and Ambience, Open Until 7PM on Weeknights
Cons: Popular place, need to call for an appointment!

FRANKLY SPEAKING, I FIND IT RISKY TO GO ANY WHERE ELSE FOR A MANI/PEDI. I NEVER THOUGHT OF THE HAZARDS THAT MAY OCCUR IN A NORMAL MANI/PEDI SALON, BUT AFTER KNOWING THE SERVICES RENDERED IN ROULA'S NAIL SPA, & THE SCIENCE BEHIND EVERY STEP FOLLOWED IN THE TREATMENT, I FEEL MUCH SAFER, BECAUSE THE PROCEDURES FOLLOWED PREVENT TRANSMISSION OF OR CONTAMINATION WITH THE MOST FEARFUL VIRUSES. I WILL NEVER HAVE A MANI/PEDI EXCEPT AT ROULA'S NAIL SPA. I WONDER HOW OTHER SALONS ARE ALLOWED TO OPERATE. THEY DON'T COMPARE. & IF YOU GO TO ROULA'S NAIL SPA, ASK FOR A WALKTHRU - YOU WILL THEN UNDERSTAND WHY I AM SAYING THIS.

From the moment I walked in I was greeted by a courteous staff who immediately made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I've visited many nail salons but this was by far the best experience. The salon is clean and luxurious and their work is impeccable. If you want a divine experience and a perfect manicure, you must visit Roula's!!!
Pros: clean, comfortable, great manicures, friendly

I started going here after a friend recommended it, based on the cleanliness.....which is awesome, as they have this "sanitation station" and they give you your own nail file that was used on you to take home along with a mini bottle of the nail color used as well.....also roula, the owner, is very friendly and customer oriented.....however, the workers don't seem to be very professional for a higher end place.....as they continue to speak vietnamese amongst themselves and do a rush job with no attention to detail......also, on one particular occasion, one of them cut the skin off my toe to the point i was bleeding!! roula was very kind and didn't charge me for that particular pedicure, but that was besides the point!! and what bothered me more was that the lady who cut me, put the styptic on with the tip of the applicator right against the broken, bloody skin!!! that was a huge disappointment, considering sanitation is what they stress here......all things said, roula herself was absolutely wonderful and caring....she saw to it that the styptic bottle was thrown out......and she even went so far as to call me several times after the fact to follow-up on the cut i had which was greatly appreciated.....this place could work, but perhaps roula needs to screen her nail technicians a little more in depth for skill, quality, and professionalism.....i would still continue to go, so long as service improves...

I tried this place because my regular tech moved away. I don't really care about pricing because it is the quality of work that matters. The place was clean, but the quality of work was horrible. The woman rushed through my pedicure and paid no attention to detail. She left me for 10 mins with mask on my legs and came back to briefly massage lotion on me. Not relaxng at all for a spa pedicure. Definitely will not come back.
Pros: clean
Cons: skills, poor polish selection

I booked a mani/ pedicure here last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When I pay more than the street corner nail "salon" I expect better service and treatment and that is exactly what I got. The staff was warm, professional extremely accomodating since I booked at the last minute. I was relaxed and made to feel like a queen for the day which was just what I needed. The spa is spotless and very sanitary and they even gave me free nail polish to go! I will certainly be back!
Pros: Soothing Atmosphere, superior service
Cons: Cost more than the street corner nail stop but well worth it!

I enjoyed every moment, from the second I walked in to the dreaded moment that I had to leave. "Pampered" doesn't begin to describe the way I felt. Great location, friendly staff, and peace of mind that everything is sanitized. I have tried several different services like, massage, facial and mani/pedi. The staff is experienced and the atmosphere is relaxing without being over the top. Products are great... and you get to take home a little bottle of nail polish every visit (perfect for touch ups on your mani/pedi)!
Pros: Sanitization process, staff, location, variety of services
