Hidden Gem in old Sugar Land
by htowncoog at Citysearch
This place is a mid-town/Heights type of cafe where you can not just get yourself some good non-corporate coffee, but order a great meal cheaply too. Unlike the mid-town/heights type of cafe's this place is very large with plenty of seats, has free wi-fi, and they bake their own breads and cakes. I was there for lunch a couple of days when I was on their side of town and they even gave me a free slice of cake with my lunch which took me by surprise (and is the reason why i made a point of giving them props on here).
I only wish they were closer to town, or at least more visible but I guess you can't have everything. I know one thing, if this place was in mid-town, it'd make a ton of money because they're very good.
- Pros: great cakes, fresh breads, foods
- Cons: located in the bad part of Sugar Land/ Missouri City
Gourmet Food and Cakes!

Cakeland Cafe has a variety of outrageously delicious pastries, cakes, breakfast, lunch and dinner!!
From sweet to spicy, this place has loads of gourmet flavoring in each dish, really each one!
My favorite is the Pita Rustica which contains a mix of ceaser dressing, parmesan cheese, homemade croissants, grilled chicken cubes, tossed in a mix of salad and stuffed in a big, round, pita--yum, it's sooo good!
No problem for vegetarians, they fix you up something too!
Don't forget their dinner menu, my mother did a backflip for the Tilapia Italiano, and my father did a gymnastical whimsical hooray for the awesome, mouthwatering Skewers.
If you're still a little skeptic or lazy to try this place, I suggest walking all the way from Sugar-land to Cakeland Cafe, then enjoying a large Chocolate Mousse cake or White Chocolate Raspberry all by yourself! The 10 inch one...
Cakeland is Delicious!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Gourmet, Class
Sugar Land eatery splits time as a bakery and bistro.

The Scene
This clean bakery and restaurant serves a broad range of baked goodies (including cookies and cakes made to order), coffee, fountain drinks and smoothies. Casual diners and on-the-go business types can sit and eat, or place an order at the counter.
The Food
Texas-size muffins, croissants and scones headline the bakery's offerings, but breakfast enthusiasts should check out the buttery, light garden omelette featuring fresh green onions, red peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheddar. Home fries are crisped to perfection. Fresh-baked bread make the sandwiches filling and fresh--try Creole chicken made with spicy, grilled chicken breast, jalapeno-Jack and pickles in a Creole sauce. Among pasta dishes, try the Rasta pasta (spicy chicken, andouille sausage and roasted tomato-basil sauce) or the zesty Burmese noodles. Cream puffs and éclairs are out of this world.
