Really good seafood
by thecking at Citysearch
Don't let the hidden location dissuade you; it is worth the effort, as the seafood here is as fresh as any upscale seafood restaurant in town. The chef in my opinion does an exception job of preparing the dishes I have sampled, and the presentation is always top notch. The interior decor is a bit over the top with the whole "wharf" theme, but the food is the star. The sauteed calamari is one of my personal favorites; fresh calamari, sauteed, not fried (fried is an option).
- Pros: Fresh menu as good as any
- Cons: Decor is not to my tastes
Please!

$50 for lunch for 2 with no booze! The waiter didn't speak English. No matter what salad dressing you request they bring the same one. No bread, no water. The gumbo was burned as was the coffee. The place had maybe 5 tables filled, Oh yes and my favorite gripe, they charge exactly the same for a glass of Porto Bin 27 as I paid for a bottle at Specs yesterday. That is why we had no drinks
Best seafood PERIOD!!!

My first time to try Joyce's and it will not be my last. This was 10 times better than Gaido's or Casey's in Galveston, not to mention Pappadeaux or Landry's. I and my partner had a small Ceasar salad to start off with, the house Chardonnay was fantastic. I order combination seafood platter (shrimp and catfish) and it was the best and freshest I've ever had. My partner had the rainbow trout encrusted with pistachio nuts off of the tonights specials list. He said this was our new seafood hangout. I ate too much to try a dessert, but the next time I will have the White Chocolate Bread Pudding.
- Pros: Everything was great!
Try it once and that will be the last

The food was nothing special. Not to mention not many thing to choose from. Not much of a selection. Service was Exellent though. But if you are looking for good seafood you may want to try another place. The restaurant was nice on the inside. It had the look and feel of a seafood joint. But since i enjoy seafood so much I would not recommend going to this place for the price of not so great seafood.
- Pros: Nice Service
- Cons: FOOD
Best Mussels in Town!
by Houston101 at Citysearch
If have not been to Joyce's, then you have not had the best seafood in town.
Cover your eyes, point and order...you will NOT be disappointed.
Yet, if you are a mussel lover, than you MUST try Joyce's mussels, steamed with white whine bianco sauce...there isnt even a close second.
If you are NOT a mussel lover, You will leave a believer.
Enjoy!

My husband and I went out for a romantic evening. He got the Flouder and LOVED it. I got the stuffed shrimp and it was awesome. We didn't have to wait long and the service was GREAT. Our drinks never were empty. I would defeinlty go again. You won't be disappointed. Oh and the Bread Pudding is to die for.!!!!!!!!!! That is if you have room.
- Pros: SERVICE, GOOD FOOD, Nice Atomsphere
Not at all what I expected!

Became excited about dining at Joyce's after reading the Citysearch reviews. We arrived to a cordial hostess. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. We ordered Crabfingers which were good. I ordered the Red Snapper with lump crabmeat and my friend ordered the house special lobster and shrimp enchiladas. When our food arrived my pricey entree was lukewarm, had tons of diced tomatoes, very little crabmeat and no flavor. My friend's enchiladas were more like sour smelling cheese enchiladas. My microwaved entree came back as my friend sent her enchilada's away. She finally decided to order the grilled shrimp, which turned out to okay, but by then both of our experiences had turned sour. I did, however, want to make sure that our waiter understood that her service was awesome. The food was just very bland and not good. There was nothing extraordinary in the least bit about this place.
- Pros: Hostess & Wait Staff, Good Parking
- Cons: Bland food, Location
Best seafood in Town

I really enjoy dinning at Joyces. I would recommend the lobster and shrimp enchiladas they are out of this word. The food is excellent, friendly service and a great wine list.
- Pros: fresh seafood, excellent service, great prices
FANTASTIC!!!
by kimmer63 at Citysearch
Joyce's is a wonderful find. The food is absolutely FANTASTIC! It's so good, I have a difficult time deciding what to order each visit. For starters, try the delicate mussels, oysters rockefeller, or the best seafood gumbo you'll ever taste! The wine selection is quite nice. Fresh fish and juicy steaks are wonderful here. If you're lucky, they'll have Lobster and Shrimp enchiladas on the nightly specials. They will melt in your mouth. If you actually have any room for dessert, the bread pudding is divine. Joyce's is a charming neighborhood restaurant with indcredible food. It's sure to become one of your favorite spots.
- Pros: Food quality, friendly staff, reasonable prices
Disappointed
by eedent at Citysearch
On August 25th, I had a dinner meeting there because of it's rating. I ordered the Halibut, which was the special and was very disappointed. The size of the filet was very small. I wouldhave preferred for them to say that the protions dis nmot meet their standards and to chose something else. They also forgot my spinach. I would rate the restaurant an 8
- Pros: Seated immediately, Inexpensive, Cordial
- Cons: , Specials
