Used to like it

by KBS at Citysearch

I've been eating there for the last 3yrs and always had good experiences with them but the last 2 times I went the service was terrible. The food is still good but service wasn't suitable for me.

If i'm going to pay to go out to eat and tip I expect decent service. (doesn't even have to be great but gotta be decent)

  • Pros: Good food / Good atmosphere
  • Cons: Slow

Contemporary Mexican cuisine in an upscale setting.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Don't let the corporate smoked-glass exterior fool you. The airy marble-and-glass dining room and large, comfortable bar provide a pleasing background for the inventive fare. But the real attraction is the 10-foot-high stone waterfall on the cantina's rear patio. Romantically lit and accompanied by live music at night, the oversized fountain cleverly incorporates cooling mist (which makes afternoons appealing, too). Sleek and scenic, Cascadas entices business types, lovebirds and families alike.

The Food
Ultra-thin chips with a mango and tomatillo salsa are a spicy prelude to the nouvelle menu. Entrees like shrimp diablo, fajitas and chicken enchiladas verde are tasty and stylishly presented. The side order of charra beans are a smoky-sweet delight. Generous margaritas do not disappoint.. After dinner, try the rich tres leches with a cup of coffee.

Nice place but

by lolo_0324 at Citysearch

The decor is very modern for a Mexican restaurant and the waterfall is a nice way to muffle the sound of traffic but as for the food, I've had better. In fact I belive I can cook better food than this place. The margaritas were tasteless but strong. The wait staff average and the hostess was rude and it seem to me she misunderstood the purpose of a hostess.

  • Pros: Modern Decor
  • Cons: Food

Best Mexican food we've ever had and excellent service!

by minig0d at Citysearch

We were visiting Houston from out of state and did a lot of research online trying to find a great place to get some mexican food... boy did we nail it on the money.... service was excellent... food was probably the best we've ever had in our lives and we are big mexican food fans so we have plenty of experience... atmosphere was great, not just another wannabe "authentic" mexican place trying to mimic a mexican hole in the wall... It was just nice all around! Food was good portion sizes... pricing we found to be inexpensive.... you may be shocked when you order a margarita and its small but don't worry b/c its only $3 (half size of margaritas most restaurants and half the price)... just order 2! Would definitely eat there again! Very nice outdoor patio with a fountain. They were having some weird kind of Hookah night outdoors on the patio which we didn't partake in but it may be interesting if you are into that sort of thing (a large tobacco water pipe).

  • Pros: Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere
  • Cons: parking may be crowded on a really busy night

Happy Hour Thursdays girls???

by bren10 at Citysearch

Aww..

This place is dear to my heart. The food and drinks are great! The girls and I were coming here loyally almost every Thursday. School started up again so we don't get the privilege. We can't wait till our break!

Cascada's has a very inviting patio (with a peaceful waterfall)...and darling little candles are doted on your tables for an evening glow. If you are a quesadilas fan...you wont be disappointed.

Ofcourse there are plenty of other Mexican dishes. I will let you discover them yourself;)

  • Pros: Ritas!!

perfect for big parties !!

by smithr at Citysearch

we went last week for my sister's birthday and i have to tell you, is one of the best restaurant i ever been in, the day was really nice so we sat outside.

the food is great and the service too, they have a huge waterfall outside. and the inside is really cozy.

if you really want to have a good time and eat good, you have to go there, you are not going to regret it. the camarones a la diabla are delicious, and have to try their margaritas.

Great food - reasonable price!

by michlmill at Citysearch

Had the Pollo Poblano and Chicken Enchiladas Verde -- both were excellent and the portions were well sized. We went on a Saturday evening - it was still early enough that it wasn't packed, but there were still a lot of people. Service was very attentive, the manager tried to stop by every table it looked like. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food that we got. Will definately come back here before returning to other Houston "tourist trap" restuarants.

  • Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Friendly Staff
  • Cons: Crowded parking lot
