Daniel is the best

by montrosemom at Citysearch

I took my teenage son with very thick hair in for a grown up cut. He loves it, it lasts a long tome before he needs to go back. It has given him a lot of confidence.

He has had some really bad cuts and was very scared to start a new place. No worries, Daniel did a great job.

  • Pros: can always get appointment, does a great job

wanted: senoRITA

by banhmilicious6 at Citysearch

I've been to many hair salon's in my life and none of them have been as pleasing as Elements. My first impression of the place was simple and practical with the concrete floors and the organic smells from the Aveda hair products. Who completely sold me the place was Rita. I explained to her my history of the many hairstylist I 've encountered and I have yet to meet anyone who is ready to cut my hair without any complaints. My hair is insanely thick and long! After an hour, Rita successfully did a GREAT JOB with my hair. I have been a loyal customer of her since then...5 years now. So if you are looking for someone with patience and guidance and also who really care what you like when you leave a hair salon, I highly recommend you come to Elements and ask for senoRITA!

  • Pros: Best RITA'S in town

First Class Salon

by jb789 at Citysearch

I can't say enough about this place. I have been going there a few years and they continue to improve and impress.

Kecia is incredible! She is patient with me and very understanding. After my first appointment with her, I did not have to worry any more about what she was going to do next time or whether she was going to cut my hair too short, etc... she takes her time and consistantly delivers an impressive haircut!

The entire staff, from Stacy on the telephone to other associates greeting you, these guys really "Get It!" I have suggested this salon to a few friends and faily members and everyone has been impressed and they are still clients today. I have recommended an out of town Bridal Party to this salon and they came back raving about the style and service! Elements is always a positive experience. The prices are very reasonable and they have a great selection of Aveda products. This establishment is always clean, playing hip / fun music, and relaxing all in the same visit!

This salon allows you to be comfortable and feel welcomed every time because there is rarely any turnover in staff. The same stylist have been there for years and in no time you will truly feel like everyone knows you!

Elements Salon is first class throughout !!!

  • Pros: Professional, Courteous and Comfortable!

love it here -

by kdotngo at Citysearch

I've been going to elements for about 3 years now - normal stylists are kecia or daniel - I have never left unhappy. They never keep you waiting - and offer your choice of drink when you check in (i'm a red wine-o)Great stress relief treatment pre-wash - all of their products smell great and everyone is very easy to talk to. I have always gone to aveda salons and I am so thankful to have one close with such great people.

  • Pros: knowledgeable & friendly

Great Place

by sephora_junkie at Citysearch

The other day i had time to get a haircut so i was in the area of Westhiemer and passed by this place earlier that day. i decided to go back to check out prices and to see if they could fit me in last min. They werent very busy and they told me the price was $55 including wash and style which is great! My stylist was Daniel. He was very nice and they offered little details like the scalp massage and aromatherapy oils. I told him what i was wanting and he understood and thinned out my very thick hair. The cut was great. I would recommend him to any of my friends. I will for sure go back to him when i need my next cut.

  • Pros: Being tucked away from the main street offers great parking, Daniel
  • Cons: Can't think of one.

Finally: A Stylist Who GETS My Hair

by sdallenhou at Citysearch

I was a first-time walk-in today and was assigned a stylist by the name of Zach. He and I have the same sort of hair and I wanted mine taken to his length, so he knew exactly what to do. I watched in wonder as he approached my hair in a way that I had never seen before. He did a dry cut, carefully sculpting my hair with a "point-cut" approach, and left me with the best haircut I've ever had. He then give me a thorough scalp massage using a natural Aveda product, followed by a shampoo and careful style.

I was looking for a new stylist who would appreciate me (after having had the same guy for three years who couldn't keep my first and last names straight), and I feel like I have found the right one. I'll definitely recommend Zach to my friends.

  • Pros: Great staff, salon, and products
  • Cons: Expensive

Happy client since before it existed...

by notexactlygavornik at Citysearch

Regarding the negative review of Zach; I started going to him 8 years ago when my roommate met him through a friend and got a great cut; I went the next week. All of the Elements guys were all working at another salon at the time and I've been a loyal client* to Zach ever since. I started with chin length, went to a pixie, and now wear it at mid-back. There was never a "growing out" period. Each hair style regularly got compliments from strangers. Women will literally stop me on the street and ask me where I got my cut.

My hair is curly but I also wear it straight. His cut actually works great either way. I just tell him approximate length and let him work. He used to do great color for me, too (never the same twice, by my choice), but now that it's long I don't bother.

Zach knows how to get the most out of hair. He does cut hair dry to see how it falls, but if you want the "salon experience", he'll happily wash and dry it before cutting. He's always asked me how I want it styled afterwards and I usually opt for ironing 'cause I can never get it quite that silky at home. I've also come in at the last minute for a trim and waited while he worked with a scheduled client.

Maybe he took the other reviewer out of her comfort zone... I don't know. What I do know is that for the first 20-some years of my life I parted my hair on the left and fought with a cowlick that never did what I wanted. The first time I went to Zach, he flipped my hair to the other side and showed me how to work _with_ my waves, and now (with the help of a great cut) I don't have to do anything with it unless I want to.

*I moved to Austin 5 years ago and tried to get my hair cut locally, even going back to someone whose cut was okay straight but terrible curly and another who did the opposite, just to make sure I was giving the alternatives a fair chance. I now drive 5 hours roundtrip for Zach to cut my hair, I just do it a little less often.

  • Pros: mellow professional
