NEVER AGAIN
by lexievers at Citysearch
I have been to this clinic several times now only seeing one doctor was probably my biggest mistake. I wish I would have had a chance to see Dr. Hoeffer - I have heard really good things about him. It's truly unfortunately that he has to work with such an incompetent staff and doctor. I am writing this review because I feel it necessary to tell my experiences from this facility. Every time I have made an appointment I have to wait at least two hours even to be seen and once you?re in visiting with the doctor, he makes you feel unimportant. You feel as though you are rushed constantly and that you have no time for questions or concerns about your pain. There has been numerous times I have called to get answers for testing/ results or questioning prescriptions and it takes two or three phone calls to get a response, if any at all!! There is total confusing in the office and what topped it off for me was that this particular Doctor was in such a hurry to get me out the door that he wrote down the wrong dosage for my prescription and Walgreens filled it. Thank goodness it wasn?t a serious medication that would have been detrimental to my health, but this is a big deal for me.. What if it was for my 3 yr. son instead???? I will never return to this office again!
- Cons: Horrible Communication

I used to tell people to see Dr Ermac because he was a great doctor who would listen to your concerns but now I can't even ask a question before he's out the door.
I will have to find another doctor.
- Pros: It was close to me.
- Cons: The doctor sees you for one minute.
Appalling Front Office Staff

I scheduled an appointment with this office without first reading the reviews. Big mistake. I simply needed one immunization shot for my 2 year old son--how bad could it be? We were early for our appointment to fill out paperwork. I was given the usual paperwork and asked for my insurance card and driver's license. Very normal. After I completed the paperwork I returned to the front desk to retrieve my license and insurance card. I have a PPO plan that requires a $25 dollar deductible. The receptionist informed me that I must pay $125 dollars to be seen. When I told her that there must be some mistake she stated that she had checked my benefits and 'they are what they are'. I asked to see the printout in her hand. It was clearly NOTHING similar to the benefits that I have had for more than 11 years. I insisted that there must be a mistake and could she please call the Ins company. I waited in the waiting area for the results of her call. After waiting for quite some time without any news I approached the front desk again. I asked about the call, and without any remote sort of an apology, she dismissed her initial insurance blunder. She then curtly asked if I was visiting the area or moving. I mentioned that I would be moving again soon, not comprehending the reason for her question. (We recently moved to Houston from out of state. I still have my out of state driver's license because we are only renting while we house hunt. My husband and I had planned on waiting to get our Texas licenses for a month or two until we had bought a home that would be our new permanent address. I wasn't thinking about any of this when she asked the question.) She then told me that her office staff was quite concerned about me not being able to receive and pay my bill with an upcoming move. I'm not sure if she believed that I offered a bogus current address on my paperwork due to my out of state license, or what. Regardless, she actually insinuated that I intended to not pay my bill! What!? First of all, with my upfront $25 copay, that is all that is required with my PPO...my plan covers the rest. Second of all, have you ever heard of mail forwarding. I have. I use it every time that I move. I was so offended by her brazen presumptions. I cancelled my appointment on the spot and left feeling completly astounded. I will never again return to this office.
horrible office staff

I have been a patient of Dr. Ermac for years and have only recently begun to dislike going to HSE. The office staff is incredibly rude and lazy. I had to call the office four or five times to get my test results and finally managed to get someone who bothered to help me on my fourth try. It took multiple phone calls to get them to change my contact information in my file as well. The person I dealt with on my last visit was incredibly rude and actually threw my receipt at me when I paid.
Dr. Ermac is a good doctor but in the past year or so he seems too busy to spend much time working on a diagnosis. Time before last, he spent less than 2 minutes with me before writing me a prescription for medication I didn't actually need.
The one redeeming quality of HSE is the amazing nurse practitioner they have on staff—Lindsey. Lindsey is incredibly friendly and helpful and actually called me an hour after the office had closed because she had been researching my diagnosis and had some more information for me. I've never had a doctor ever care this much about helping me get better.
I am disappointed in the decline in quality from Dr. Ermac and disgusted at how terrible the office staff is but I will keep coming back to HSE so long as Lindsey works there.
- Pros: Lindsey, the nurse practitioner
- Cons: office staff, doctors too busy to care, long wait...
TOO LONG of a wait
by Singingwoods at Citysearch
Since HSE Medical moved to Barker Cypress they must overlap patients bc from the time you go in and pay your co pay to leaving its about 2 hours. You sit in the patient room (not the office room) to see the Dr a long long time. My husbands from Britian and hes gotten quite preturbed. Last time I was there a man was actually yelling bc he had to wait so long. (No lie) And the office on Hwy 6 Copperfield is the same. Why????? do they have to do this to people? I think its aweful. I have to go today to HSE and dread the wait that I KNOW I will have!
- Pros: Great Drs
- Cons: You Now wait an hour and a half atleast or longer
MUST READ - HONEST REVIEW (not bias)

I recently joined the HSE family! I had a more than wonderful experience. I was very sick and in search of a good physician so i googled the providers allowed by my insurance in my area. I will admit I was a little discouraged when i read these reviews. However, I was sick enough to take the risk and I am so glad I did; that is why I had to write the truth. MUST READ THE FOLLOWING: I called to get an appointment with Dr. Hofer and learn he had no appointments available due to a family emergency and the kind receptionist Maryland (compassionate girl) suggested Dr. Perossa. She took the time to listen to my concerns and reccomended Dr. Perossa. She explained that he is a great doctor and is not one to rush a patient (very thorough & caring) and I will absolutely adore him. Needless to say she was right on money! KEEP READING IT GETS BETTER: So i show up to the appointment and i am greeted with a friendly smile from an older hispanic lady and asked to sign in so i did. I was given paper work to fill out and shortly after i turned it in i was called into a room (awesome). Then I met with Jennifer (Dr. Perossa's Assistant) she was very professional and then i was able to meet Dr. Perossa...The BEST DOCTOR I have ever had! He is professional, brilliant, thorough, and can take a joke! He is now my GP! Upon leaving I check out and before I left i got to meet Maryland (she remembered my voice from over the phone...i am not just a number). Then she asked me did i like Dr. Perossa and I said thank you he was great then she did something no one has ever done...SHE ASKED IF IT WOULD BE OK TO PRAY FOR ME LATER ABOUT MY SITUATION (not part of her job description). I said yes I would appreciate and left the office. KEEP READING THIS IS AMAZING: So about an hour later my phone rings and it is Maryland. She said she had a few moments to spare and wanted to pray with me over the phone if i did'nt mind. She pray so sweetly and powerfully with so much concern and compassion. I love HSE and Dr. Perossa and Maryland! Thank You So Much for Proving these negative reviews wrong. God Bless HSE!
- Pros: Compassionate Staff & Dr. Perossa
- Cons: n/a
a lesson learned

i loved my doctor. I'm going to miss him. He was good to me. Once when I had been brutalized, he waived the fee. He usually was compassionate and took time with me. He gave me samples because one routine med had a very high copay. He cared that my work ups were complete and appropriate referrals were made.
Too bad his staff isn't functioning at the same level. They interfere with the doctor/patient relationship. They told my doctor I verbally abused them. They told him I said I would change to another practice. That statement came only after the staff frustrated me beyond belief. If I'd changed it would've been over their bad behavior--NOT his. I was never unhappy with him. I wish I had gone to him early on and shared my complaints. I was going to do that and said so to an employee. She made sure I'd never get tthe opportunity. She made a bee line to him, and said I verbally abused her. That's when the banishment letter was sent. I should've kept my intentions to myself. He and I could have worked it out.
- Pros: quick work in appts., brief wait time; free parking
- Cons: unprofessional and unethical staff
commentary

I'd like to comment about kursplat's horrible treatment at the hands of HSE Medical. The physicians of HSE Medical reinforce their ignorant, uncouth workers' behavior. The doctors are helping to create these monsters. These physicians listen to the workers' complaints that patients are rude. Without investigation they kick out the patient. This behavior has led not to professional conduct by the staff, but increasingly to rude conduct, such as the treatment kursplat received. Additionally, Hoefer et al are cutting corners--paying low wages and getting poor quality workers. Concerning the mess up with the insurance, those bright bulbs once billed an insurance company with whom I was no longer insured. They'd been notified by me in writing that I changed insurance companies. Of course my former insurance company denied the claim. Furthermore, HSE staff passed on this erroneous insurance information to a lab who had provided services. I received duns from the lab for payment. AFter providing the lab with the correct billing information, the matter was eventually resolved, but a lot of time was spent on the phone. When I addressed the problem with Tammy, she offered the lamest excuses that her bright bulbs weren't to blame. I dug in. Like a cross examiner in the court room, I walked her back through time asking cause and effect type questions which eventually resulted in the answer appearing in Tammy's mouth that indeed HSE dummies caused the problem in the first place.
There is another writer who stated that Dr. ERmac spent a minute with her and gave her a prescription she didn't need. If that wasn't enough, the front office person threw the receipt at her. When the doctors start giving you the brush off over there, get ready, they're winding up on the mound to throw you out. The paper-throwing moron was acting out 'cause she knows Dr. Ermac dissed the patient. Believe me, these people talk behind the scense and too often in front of the bulbs. So in her pea brain, if Ermac doesn't give a flip about the patient, neither will she.
It would serve HSE Medical right if they failed. Who does Drs Hoefer and ERmac think is going to pay the ginormous mortgage payment for the new building and their million dollar homes? Let 'em make a hard bed and lie in it.
- Pros: none come to mind
- Cons: rough neck front office staff
Not happy anymore

I have been going to Dr Hofer for over 12 years. His staff was always so nice but since they have moved into a bigger office the patient service from both staff and doctors has gone down big time. When you call in to get help or find out results - it takes 3 to 5 times before you ever get the nurse to call back. If they are that busy(nurses) then maybe they should have a nurse just for the call backs and prescriptions. If you are lucky! The waiting period for prescriptions to pick up use to be 24 hours but magically it is now 48 hours (No one knew they changed it) It seems when they are backed up or just not doing the job they change their policy. Not the doctors, the staff! I am really dissappointed with the way they (staff) handle patients now and will stop referring friends to HSE. I hate it when a doctors office gets so confident that they forget about their long time patients who have been faithful and never once complained until NOW! Oh the office manager is of now help so don't even go there! Stop overworking the nurses!
- Pros: Dr Hofer is great
- Cons: His staff is horrible and rude

I referred my grandmother to Dr Ermac knowing how picky she is about her doctors. She is in her 70's and has lots of medical problems but that didn't phase Dr. Ermac. I have known him for many years and think he went into medicine for all the right reasons and hasn't forgotten that compassion is key. As a Nurse Practitioner myself, I can be quite picky when it comes to my families care. Dr. Ermac has been nothing but professional and his staff shows the same compassion.
- Pros: timely appt and good bedside manner
- Cons: difficult to get call back at times due to # of phone option
