Excellent For the Business traveler

Whenever I have the chance, this is where I stay. The Restaurant is one of Houston's hidden jewels. The food is excellent. You can tell this hotel wants you back. The staff is gracious and knowledgeable. I look forward to my Mojito in the bar when I arrive!
Great hotel -- if you've got the $$$!

Admittedly, I got to stay here for free on a rewards program, so I mostly just feel thankful for a relaxing night in a beautiful hotel. I was very impressed with the courteous, professional staff. Even though I was only on the 8th floor, my view was spectacular, and I got a great night's sleep there. The regular rate for the hotel seemed decent enough, since it is very nice (not that it's something I could regularly afford) but parking for $16/day and internet for $10/day, plus about $5 for a Coke, etc, seemed pretty silly... I was probably just out of my class! Still, lots of fun and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a nice hotel.
- Pros: Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, awesome view
- Cons: Extras seem too pricey
Not exactly four-star quality

My husband and I stayed here for a week while he took the Texas Bar Exam, and had high hopes that it would be a quiet retreat for him to study and recharge each day after hours of testing. However, our first evening in the hotel was marred by a loud group in the room next to us that kept us up late when we knew he had to wake up early the next morning. We called the front desk to report the problem, and were told that, unfortunately, the hotel was booked and there were no other rooms available. My husband pushed a bit, and we were ultimately given a handicap room on the next floor down. This would have been fine except that it smelled heavily of smoke (even thought it wasn't a smoking room), and there was absolutely no closet or counter space. So, I called again, and after some more explaining and waiting, we were FINALLY moved to a normal, quiet, non-smelly hotel room. We thought things would be better from that point forward, but the next morning, we had to call down to Room Service no less than THREE times to have them keep bringing up pieces of our breakfast order that they kept forgetting! It was pretty ridiculous. Although the remainder of our stay was relatively problem-free, we just got a poor impression of this hotel based on our first couple days. The rooms are clean and the location is nice, so with a little clean-up on the customer service front, it might be a great place to stay.
Upscale amenities for discriminating business travelers.

The Scene
This former Crowne Plaza Hotel offers high-rise accommodations in Houston's uptown Galleria district. It's an easy 10-minute drive to downtown, traffic willing. With its eye-catching lobby adorned with elegant columns and beveled ceiling, this isn't your typical business hotel. Yet execs consider it one of the best choices in town. Top-notch meeting and banquet facilities make it a popular venue for conferences and retreats.
The Details
The hotel offers standard guest rooms and suites, equipped with such office-savvy amenities as three dual-line telephones with data ports and high-speed Ethernet connectivity. As well, the Club Inter-Continental Suites are located on three private floors requiring elevator key access. These special rooms feature their own dedicated concierge and upgraded amenities such as cordless telephones. When not in meetings or shopping nearby, guests hang out in Bar 222, where tapas and martinis are the fare of choice. The Restaurant serves dishes inspired by the cuisines of France and Spain.
Great service and great food!
