Best Bouncer in the City

by hotmoma

I found the bar to be OK, not big crowds at all, but the food is good, they have great pasta salads and the best pizza, the drinks are fair in price and the stuff great, but the best part of the bar is their bouncer. His name is Juice and he is a big guy. Alot of people say he looks like the guy on the Green Mile Move, but he is nice and funny and friendly. Really makes you feel welcome. He can be tuff when he needs to be, but really brings fun to the club. He has a laugh like Eddie Murphy. You can sit on the patio out front by the door and talk to him, have a drink . He will make any ones bad day turn out good. I like his laugh it just makes you feel good. For any other reason to stop by this bar it would be do say hi to Juice. Oh ladies if there is a guy giving you a hard time and won't let you alone while your there, Just let Juice know he will handle it for you.

  • Pros: Food and Drink Good, Atmosphere good
  • Cons: Not very crowded, to loud can't hear people when they talk to you, Music way to loud

Is this a Joke?

by gostros

It's places like this that have been killing downtown night life. This place is horrible. How did it get almost 5 stars? It's dirty, dark, over-priced, not enough TV's, and the employees are apathetic. It looks like the place is being run by complete amatuers. I've seen more excitement in an old folks home. Save your money and go to a real sports bar. Fox Sports Grill, Champs, even BW3's has so much more to offer. How Milo got involved with this place is beyond me.

  • Pros: You can jump in front of a train to end the misery
  • Cons: parking, service, TV's, staff, and completely clueless

Boring bar

by bhillin

I went there on a Saturday night at around 10:00. There was very few people in the bar, the music was so loud I couldn't hear what people were saying to me, and there was some annoying guy on the microphone. I don't know if he was supposed to be a DJ or if it was just some drunk guy that they were letting play with the microphone. Service was fast at the bar, but there wasn't just a whole lot of people there either. Groups of people would sporatically come in, but would leave pretty shortly. The whole atmosphere reminded me of a really lame frat party. I personally don't recommend it, but there was a few drunk people in there that seemed to like it.

  • Pros: Attentive bartenders, reasonable prices
  • Cons: Light crowd, lame atmosphere

Can't Beat the Deals

by jmack2626

Definitly a good spot to hit up if your going to the Astros game. They have had a special going on for a while that you get cheaper beers with your Astros Ticket. Definitly makes it a bargain when combined with their food specials. I've made it a regular stop before games and most likely continue to do so as long as the beer is cheap and cold.

  • Pros: Cheap Eats, Cheap Drinks, Great Place
  • Cons: Parking

A generous happy hour makes this the place to be to root for the home team.

In Short
From karaoke to hip-hop dance parties, every night offers something a little different from the average sports bar. Expect a mixed crowd of college-aged singles and regulars looking for cheap beer with the game. The cafe offers an expansive menu of pizza, salads, sandwiches and standard bar appetizers. Check out the upstairs deck with a standout view of downtown and Minute Maid Field. It gets crowded when Texans and Astros games are on.

Horrible, horrible spot.

by annika_marie

Live Sports Cafe was EMPTY when I went during the week. It was a "Battle of the Bands" evening, and the place was so incredibly loud, you couldn't even hear the bartender confirm your order. On top of that, the only crowds that seemed to come and go were the teeny-boppers avidly drinking cokes and bumming cigarettes. There are too many other places to go in Downtown. Avoid this place.

  • Cons: Too Loud Music, Parking

not my kind of place

by mrskutcher

My friend wanted me to go check out this place with her because she heard from some people that they have a huge party on weekends and it's great to be out on the patio looking at mainstree, but the place turned out to be totally dead with bad music and bad crowd with really bad music. We ended up going bar hopping and ended up at another club a street down in a smokey basement and had alot more fun there. After reading the reviews on here, it's obvious that most are written by people associated with the club or promotions people. who else knows all the drink specials and prices by heart?

ballot stuffing!

by racerxhou

If you notice most of the good reviews here mention drink specials and specific times - things that only an owner or someone associated with the club would know. The only reason why this place is not out of business is because they're on main street and some poor bastard from out of town accidently steps in and doesn't know any better. The staff is rude, the place is dirty, and they don't have an identity. what is this place, a bar or a club? if you're not good at being either, why do you think you can be both?

If you want a club, go to a real club.

if you want a sports bar, go to a real sports bar.

If you want to get insulted by the staff then go here.

  • Pros: catch up with sleep
  • Cons: rude service, watered down drinks
