We have been dining at San Lorenzo's 3 to 4 times per month since they opened years ago. The same waitstaff has been there forever. The service is extremely fast and they treat you like family. You may have to wait a bit on weekends - but that is because of the excellent food and fast, friendly service. They also have a good hamburger and chicken nuggets w fries on the menu if you have a child that does'nt like Mexican food. ;)
They began at a smaller location about a half mile down the road which is still a smaller version of the Restaurant - I believe it is now called San Lorenzo Cantina and often if there is a wait at San Lorenzo's you can head on over to the Cantina and be seated right away - most of the menu items are the same - in a smaller more casual atmosphere.
There is an appetizer you must try with the chips - I can't remember what they call it but it has firm chunks of avocado and tomato - it is sooo good.
San Lorenzo's is one of our favorite restaurants - we can always count on a clean environment, friendly waiters, fast service and great tex-mex food.
Best Mexican Ive found in a year

I moved here about a year and half ago from California and had yet to find a great Mexican place. I always judge by wether the salsa is actually hot, the food is good, and wether or not the restaurant has.. well... Mexicans making the food. I mean you dont want someone with no Mexican culture background making your Mexican food. Its just the same as going to a chinese place and not having someone Oriental making the food. Its just the same. This place is AWESOME. I love it. I've had the Fajitias, the San Lorenzo Salad, a couple of their Combination plates - which I really recommend - all at an affordable price! I mean between me and my boyfriend, with sodas to drink and each their own combination dinner walked away with a bill of less then $15. And at a sit down place, with great service, I think thats hard to come by.
My boyfriend also loves the Margaritas. They come out smaller then you might expect, but their full of alcohol and are great tasting too. They are so worth it!
- Pros: Great Food, Good Service, Great Prices
- Cons: It is a little far from the main freeway 45
Avoid it all together

I have been to San Lorenzo twice now. Once when it first opened and just the other night with my husband. Both times have been a result of being very ill. I got severly sick from the shrimp. I went back b/c I assumed that after enough time their food might be "less" tainted. My husband is laying beside me extremely ill from the beef fajitas. There was something not right about the food last night to begin with. When I called the manager to report the issue from the previous night, she blew me off and didn't seem to care about what condition the food left my husband in nor did she seem to care about any other issues it could cause. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone again. There food is no better than any of the other surrounding places in the Clear Lake/Kemah/League City area.
- Pros: its close to the house
- Cons: the food, service, price, service, food, service and food
Authentic Tex-Mex

This place is about 7 miles from the freeway but if you live in the area, it's a great place to go for a quick lunch or a good spicy dinner. The dining room is bigger than it looks from outside, but they can normally seat you right away. Good enchilada platters and tacos. The fajitas are sizzling and good. Try the shrimp. Big enough to split.

Good Mexican Food for the average person or family

I have been to San Lorenzo?s repeatedly. The food is not the exotic Mexican that many of the restaurants try to serve in this area. It is the familiar Tex-Mex that we have all come to know and love. They do a good job of the basics and there is plenty on the plate. They are always cordial and helpful and you don?t have to send out a search party for a waiter when you need one. The tables are close together making the place a bit crowded but that?s about the only negative I have noticed. Note that the place is packed on nights and mobbed on the weekends. Try to go there after the lunch rush during the week for a quieter experience.
- Pros: Food is familiar and there is lots of it. The people are friendly and concerned and the service is what you would expect from a sit down dinner experience.
- Cons: Tables are close together making it a bit difficult for large people such as myself to get around.
Good local family restaurant

Great place to go with family and see neighbors. Good for kids. Don't get your hopes up too high on the food. It is just better than a chain. They need to get Mama back in the kitchen to train the cooks. Carne Guisada is good. Service is very good. Drive right by Mely's and go here. Secret: The old location is open for breakfast. A good place to stop and get "juevos con chorizo" after church on Sunday.
- Pros: good service, good tex-mex, kid friendly,
- Cons: food needs mama's heart
Better Inside Than The Outside Suggests

Hmmm.....looks like an average Mexican food place in a new and still vacant shopping strip center. Don't let that stop you - the food is excellent, waiters are knowledgable and service is fairly quick. Only draw back is that it is very cramped inside--tables squashed close together and not much room to walk around. The entry is really small--if you were meeting someone, you would be uncomfortable waiting for them to arri ve. The restaurant is just about always filled to capacity so that tells you something.
- Pros: Great green sauce
- Cons: Squishy accomodations
nice ambience to enjoy mexican

a quaintly decorated mexican restaurant, although it borders on looking like any other mexican restaurants out there. the food is decent, nothing really spectacular or special. great place to meet up friends for lunch or dinner, but don't expect much here.*
- Pros: location
- Cons: ok food, ambience
