Viva Mexico City

Great authentic mexican food from Mexico City. Tex/mex is also served to perfection. Great family run restaurant. The location is not trendy but the food is well worth the trip.
- Pros: Food, Service, catering
- Cons: Location
Best Margaritas
by ethanjs at Citysearch
La Escondida has moved to 7270 Hwy 6 South, Missouri City, TX. My wife and I go here rather frequently. The have the best margaritas in the area. They are rather strong and only $2 during happy hour ($4 regularly). The food is very good. It is more on the mexican side of tex-mex. Best bets are tortilla soup, fajitas, and the authentic portion of the menu. The only things we have disliked were the seafood items. They tend to be a little bland. Service can be fantastic or just middle of the road depending on your server. We have never had a bad experience there, and I look forward to continuing my patronage.
- Pros: Great Margaritas
- Cons: Seafood
Won't return

new place in the neighborhood so we decided to try out some chips and salsa on our way home with sleeping baby in car. i was told by hostess "i don't know if we do that" (what?) then she said "go to the bar". i was never acknowledged at bar, after waiting for several minutes, i called out to bartender. she said "we don't do that here". so, i asked where to go from there b/c the hostess stand told me to come here. i received a blank stare and then she placed order for chips and salsa $4. waited another 15 minutes for chips and salsa. so, i asked again for my order, was told "we don't do that here". salsa finally came out- it was in an open basket and open bowl as for a table in restaurant. told server, "i needed these to go" she asked "well, did you tell her you needed it to go?" asked for a manager b/c i had waited 30 minutes for chips and salsa. i was referred to another hostess in the front. after i explained the situation, hoping for a little understanding, i was told "sorry, we're busy from 5:30 to 8:30". we definitely won't be returning if a simple order of chips and salsa is such an ordeal. should've left without the order, but pregnant wife was really craving chips and salsa. as frequent restaurant-goers, we'll stick to our usual mexican eateries on hwy. 6, where the service is never compromised.

Yes, the location is not good. Yes, the food is fantastic and affordable. Try the stuffed shrimp and jalepeno appetizer. The service is always great and so is the food. Well worth the trip

i love this place. i live about an hour away from it but i always make the drive out to eat their fajitas. the restaurant isn't much to look at on the oustide but inside it's gorgeously decorated complete with a fountain in the middle. the waitstaff is incredibly friendly and they provide excellent service. this is a place every MUST visit.
- Pros: inexpensive, excellent service, great food

La Escondida is by far the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. Nothing compares to the homemade guacalmole made right at your table. I've never had a bad experience here.
