Rude staff

by truestory85

Terrible service. Would expect more for a $40 lunch. Very rude staff. I do not recommend at all. I do not plan on returning. Worst dining experience ever.

What a joke..!! Horrible!!

by dinkerdnk

What a joke..!! Horrible!! This is a way over priced glorified assembly line cafeteria. The food was cold...the restaurant was freezing...Ordered a bottle of wine went to the weak salad bar -- It was sitting on our table -- minus the waiter. lol. The food is what I suspect you would find at the Sizzler or Furrs or some other cafeteria minus the gauchos walking around with cold beef on their skewers. Never again...! My suggestion..Go somewhere else or save your money people. EOF

Not my style but probably good for others

by mlmorris

I recently went to Fogo de Chao for the first time. I have always heard great things about the restaurant. While, I'm glad that I went and got to experience the service and food they provided, for me it was not worth it. First, I'm not a huge red meat eater. Secondly, I can't pack that much food away making the experience kind of costly. The salad bar is nice but not what I expected. Bread, cheeses, and marinated veggies are readily available. As far as the meat, I found the tastiest one was the picahna (I believe they stated this was their house specialty or a popular one). I had never had lamb before and that too was tasty. As for the other meats I didn't think they had very much flavor. The service however was impecable. There are so many attentive waiters. As I stated before, this was my first visit and they explained how the meat service worked (red and green sided card) but even when our cards were turned to red (stop meat service) if the server saw us eye something they would offer it to us. We paid over $200 at lunch for 3 people, however we each had our meal, a glass of wine, a dessert, plus a 25% tip.

  • Pros: Service
  • Cons: Can be costly

FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!

by DocandCole

My boyfriend wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day early so he surprised me with a lunch date at Fogo De Chao's. This was our first time visiting the restaurant. What impressed us immediately was our waiter letting us know that he really enjoyed his job. This is huge to us because we have been in restaurants where we have experienced wait staff that did not enjoy their jobs and we are all about good customer service. After a short time there, our waiter seemed to be so insync with my boyfriend and I that he would answer questions and assist us with items before we even asked. I use lemon in my water so when I asked for more water instead of bringing me lemons ,he brought us a small pitcher of fresh lemon juice. Everytime my boyfriend or I left the table he would pull our chair out for us by the time we got back. I could go on and on about the service but I must mentioned the delicious food. The salad bar was one of the best I've seen in the city. Everything you can imagine is on it and it comes with the meal. Side items and bread are also included with your meat selections. They really cater to all individuals and their tastes. My boyfriend prefers medium rare and I prefer medium ,and they were able to satisy us both because the meat they carved for us was brought to our table in different cooking stages. We are both not heavy red meat eaters so when the waiter asked us about dessert we shook our heads no immediately. He went on to explain a dessert to us that helps aid in digestion. it was a papaya and vanilla ice cream dessert and it was delicious .... All in All the experience was wonderful and we look forward to our next visit.

  • Pros: CUSTOMER SERVICE, CUSTOMER SERVICE, CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!
  • Cons: They are only open for dinner on the weekends

Awesome Food & Service!!! AAA+++

by TheresaLovesHouston

We had a 6pm reservation, but arrived about 5:45 and got seated right away in a nice little romantic corner spot. The salad bar could have been a meal in itself. I tried several new dishes for the bar and found that everything was scrumptious. I'm not a big eater, so I was a little nervous about this experience. However, that was not an issue. The superb meats were out-of-this-world GREAT!!! I highly recommend the house specialty meat; it will leave your taste buds craving for more, even if you are already stuffed. We received great service from everyone, as well. The parmesan crusted pork is also terrific. I can't wait to go back!

Overrated

by htown01

I recently went to Fogo de Chao for a work dinner and was mildly disappointed though my initial expectations, thankfully, weren't high. This restaurant is clearly known in Houston as THE place to take clients for work dinners because half the restaurant was filled with large parties of suited men schmoozing. If your clients happen to be from another country, as ours were, the noisy environment makes it near impossible to carry on a conversation across the Texas sized tables when English is rapidly spoken by the rest of the group. The food in my opinion was average despite the rumors that it is "fantastic". A few of the meats were tender and flavorfull and others were bland and overdone. I have eaten at other churrascarias where there were more varieties of meat, better side dishes and the enviroment didn't feel so stressful and hectic. This restaurant has just become another mass produced, glutinous steakhouse that still feels the need to overcharge people solely based upon their reputation not on the actual quality of the food.

Fogo de Awesome!

by Beachsun

I went there with my girlfriend this week for one of the most, if not the most, amazing dining experiences. I'll start with the salad bar...it's not even fair to call it that, because that makes it sound like something you'd find at the place you go to with your grandmother. The fact that I couldn't identify a few of the upscale items was amazing and intriguing. The attendant standing nearby ready to give me a clean plate took the time to walk the entire perimeter and explain what each item was. Delicious. Now on to the meats. You would think that because of the sheer volume of meats that quality would be an issue. No way. From the Filet Mignon to the Picanha to even the chicken drumsticks it was nothing short of incredible. Both my gf and I agree that this place is now on our "must visit often" list. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

  • Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
