Doctors (and friends) for life
by PPreuss at Citysearch
My 2nd baby boy was born on Sept 4, and was delivered by Dr. Lisa Beard. I was scheduled for an induction that day, but baby decided to come early (4:31am). Even though i am not her patient and never met her before that night, Dr. Beard was very professional and compassionate. She was there for me at four in the morning. (I wouldn't get out of bed at that time for anyone but family...) So i have a great deal of respect for her. This pregnancy was nothing like the first. I felt a lot of pelvic pressure, i was constantly stressed out and irritated due to the hormonal rollercoaster. My pregnancy was not complicated, but i made it so. I don't know how many times i called in to ask questions or to complain about something small (during the pregnancy and postpartum). I received answers promptly, and was treated with the utmost respect. I was cared by an awesome team of doctors and nurses (Brandi, Pam, Jennifer, Christina, Krista and Tanya). After seeing them monthly/weekly for 9 months, I feel like i know everyone, and can call them my friends. Both Brandi and Doctor Hardwick-Smith addressed all of my concerns and gave me confidence at each appointment. Brandi has a positive attitude and is very caring. Dr. Hardwick-Smth is the best of the best, and that's why she has been my doctor for over 8 years - I love her! Dr. Ohlemacher came to see me twice while i was in the hospital to make sure i was doing okay - she really didn't have to, and that meant a lot. Bertha (ultrasound tech) is also very nice. She explained each ultrasound in detail to me and my husband. Now that my family is complete, i will miss seeing them so often. They really care about your health, pregnant or not. I have nothing but positive things to say about this practice!
- Pros: Compassionate team of doctors and nurses
Dr. Hardwick-Smith: The complete package
by SSJeff at Citysearch
I was referred to Dr. Hardwick-Smith by another medical professional because of her intelligence and incredible bedside manner. As my husband and I are both physicians, I researched her credentials and interviewed her before selecting her as my physician. She is a very gracious woman and physician. I was looking for someone who could combine being extremely clinically competent yet compassionate to my needs. She guided us in trying to get pregnant, knew when to refer us to a specialist, and then followed us every step of the way. I was very impressed with her ability to discern when to observe and when to act. In the delivery room, the cord was wrapping around my son's neck----she calmly yet assertively looked at me and the nurses and said, "Let's get him out"-----within 3 pushes he arrived with a team of transport nurses standing by. Thankfully her attentiveness and preparedness avoided any complications. She had decided to stay and personally deliver our son which caused a late dinner with her own family. I refer both patients and personal friends to her because of her wisdom, confidence, and caring attitude. Her staff support her in the mission to provide her patients the complete package of top notch medical services. We are forever grateful to her for her role in giving us the beauftiful blessing of a healthy baby boy.
- Pros: Completely in control yet compassionate
- Cons: none
Dr. Hardwick-Smith: Compassionate, Knowledgeable, Supportive
by jessicabc at Citysearch
I recently went to Dr. Hardwick-Smith for a non-pregnancy health issue, She spent a great deal of time talking with me, was supportive and encouraging, and made sure I would get the very best care possible. Her response time on getting procedures scheduled was exceptional, too.
It was easy to get an appointment, the offices are beautiful and peaceful, the staff is kind and friendly, and Dr. Hardwick-Smith's assistant is exceptional.
I wish I had found Dr. Hardwick-Smith earlier for my first pregnancy, and I am so very grateful to be in her care now.
- Pros: Very generous with her time, delightful, truly caring
- Cons: None
Dr. Hardwick-Smith is Outstanding
by MaryDL at Citysearch
I found Dr. Hardwick-Smith to be an excellent OB-GYN. I was pregnant with my first child when I went to Dr. Hardwick-Smith. Throughout the entire pregnancy she always displayed the utmost in care. She always went out of her way for me, she always returned all my phone calls, and I never had to ask her twice.
Her staff was always friendly, efficient, and always responsive to anything I needed. My test results were even quickly acknowledged, usually within a couple days.
Dr. H-S encouraged me to stay as active as possible during the pregnancy and gave me confidence to continue living an athletic lifestyle. Her famous line to me was, “Only stop if you don’t feel comfortable, but don’t let being pregnant get in the way.” I believe her positive attitude and constant encouragement to stay physically active ensured my pregnancy went smooth as possible and my post partum recovery was super fast, and within a few days I was back to doing cardio.
On the day of my son’s delivery, a Saturday morning before Christmas, Dr. H-S came in on her own time to deliver the baby. Something she did not have to do. She personally called the hospital the day before I was admitted to set everything up, and made sure we had the best room and staff available. She even called me three times while I was in the room to make sure everything was OK.
Dr. H-S made my delivery so easy. I know it is not “easy,” but she really spoiled us with her care and attention. We really love Dr. H-S and cannot imagine having another doctor.
- Pros: Wonderful staff, care, and bedside manner.

Best OB, Best Care
by Carolk at Citysearch
During my pregnancy i was under the care of Dr Susan Hardwick-Smith. I have to say that she was very friendly, professional, caring and the perfect OB. I went in to preterm labour at 33 weeks so had quite alot of visits to the CWCC. Each visit was a positive experience, everyone was friendly, helpful, polite and very good at the their jobs!!! My care was always of the highest standard! Other Drs in the centre were also friendly and helpful during my pregnancy. My delivery was a little difficult but i knew i was being taken care by the very best. I was always reasurred that everything was being done to keep my baby and I safe! I will continue to use the centre and of course Dr Hardwick Smith. Thank you all at the CWCC, you all contributed to my care and deserve praise and thanks!!! Keep up the good work!

Compassionate Care during difficult time
by linuslady at Citysearch
I have to get in the habit about commenting on positive occurrences rather than just the bad ones. My treatment by Dr. Hardwick-Smith and her staff (Brandi, etc) was exceptional. I had a very difficult situation which I had to deal with and I really felt like they were with me every step of the way. I am a scientifically-minded emotional woman. Therefore, I am a difficult patient to please...I want all of the facts, cutting-edge equipment, science reasoning, etc while at the same time I need a warm approach, care, compassion, and empathy. I got it all from Dr. Hardwick-Smith and her team. They were not only my doctors on my journey...they were my partners.
- Pros: Intelligence, Compassion, Cleanliness, Modern
Dr. Jurney and her staff are wonderful
by CEA2009 at Citysearch
Dr. Jurney was responsible for my care during a very difficult and unexpected pregnancy. From my first appointment at CWCC, I felt like a priority. Dr. Jurney comforted me when delivering difficult news and made sure I understood everything ahead. My husband and I felt that she got to know us personally, and helped us through a difficult 9 months. After several months of seeing her weekly, we delivered a healthy baby because of her termendous care. Everyone on her staff and everyone in the office could not have been more compassionate. I feel very blessed to have found this doctor and this practice. I could not have asked for anything. In fact, I feel a little sad that I will not be seeing them weekly anymore now that my pregnancy is over! I reccomend this practice to anyone who will listen.
From a man's perspective...
by chibrsfan at Citysearch
I wanted to write this from a husband's perspective, which actually gives a good look in to the operations of the office and the treatment one receives.
I am extremely lucky that I was able to accompany my wife on every visit during the pregnancy of our first baby. We were referred to "Compete Women's Care Center" by a friend, and it ended up being the best choice we have made in a long time. From the first visit, I, yes "I" the husband, felt extremely happy with the treatment of my wife and the care that the doctors, especially Dr. Hardwick-Smith gave her. This child is my first, and even though my wife carried her, I felt incredibly nervous until I walked through the double glass-doors in to a warm, welcoming environment.
From the first visit until the last, we were treated to an incredible journey of affection and kindness, which I believe affected the entire pregnancy. Brandi was amazing, Dr. Jurney was amazing, Dr. Beard was amazing, but most of all Dr. Hardwick-Smith.
I wasn't even pregnant, I wasn't the patient, but I felt like we connected with the doctors at CWCC on an equal level, almost like after the visit we could all go and "hang out together". Dr. Hardwick-Smith gave enormous effort to making sure that we were comfortable, including through the entire labor-phase. We had a semi-complication, and she put it all out on the table and made us entirely comfortable with what we faced. She wasn't even supposed to be on that shift, but she made sure that she was there when we needed her most.
Yes, there may be a wait at some point in the office, but have you ever stopped to think, "why"? Would you rather have your Doctor, who has seen you on so many occasions and knows you and your body personally, in the office seeing patients at an incredible rate, or with you on your most "special" day? I would easily wait 2+ hours on every "regular" visit, just to have Dr. Hardwick-Smith constantly overseeing my wife's and daughter's well-being on the delivery day. She was there constantly, filling us in, allowing us to understand all the changes. It was an incredible experience.
My wife and I looked forward to every visit, and of course, the baby and her development was the emphasis, but the knowledge that CWCC exhibited was amazing, and now we have an extremely happy baby girl that benefited from a well-kept pregnancy.
I understand that this is a strange view, but I think that having some one see the progression from an outside perspective is a definite plus, especially when that someone is so emotionally involved.
As long as we live, and as long as my friends and family ask us for recommendations, we will send them to CWCC. I feel we are so lucky to find such a professional group, and I am so lucky that I was able to experience every visit and the entire term of the pregnancy.
Yes, I am a man, a husband, a father. I am so proud of my daughter and my wife. I was lucky to experience this wonderful event, and if I had to do it over again, I would change nothing. We owe so much to CWCC, and I feel like our debt can never be repaid. I hope you give them a chance, it was the best decision (besides having a daughter!) that we have ever made!

- Pros: Felt at home, actually enjoyed the "visit"
