I didn't get bad service.
by CSMobileUser2
I sat at the sushi bar and got greta serviice from the chef and did 99% of my ordering from him. Very attentive and had great suggestions. I'll be back.
Decent food, flaky service
by houston_aggie
We went here for dinner on Saturday night. It was not crowded whatsoever. We ordered the pepper seared tuna, jazz roll, tiger roll, and seaweed salad. The tuna was delicious and almost melted in my mouth. The sushi rolls were decent, nothing special. The pieces were not uniformly cut and were HUGE. The seaweed salad was dry and small. The service left more to be desired. We never got water refills. When we asked for more cocktails, they took forever and I actually saw the drinks sitting on the bar for over 20 minutes. When our food first came out, the waiter clumsily threw the food down, almost breaking some plates and glasses, and then he ran off. It took us 15 minutes to flag someone down for utensils and chopsticks. I might give this place another chance...good location, ample parking, no wait.
- Pros: pepper seared tuna
- Cons: service
GOOD FOOD IF YOU CAN STOMACH THE SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!
by sushilovingirlxx
I have been going to Taiko for a couple years now for the hibachi "show" with my children and they love it. The food is good and always fresh but lately the service has been getting progressively worse. When it is brought to the managers attention he basically ignores you. The taste of the food far outweighs the service though. So if you can get over the EXTRA POOR SERVICE (just don't tip--maybe they will get it one day!!!!!) then it's a good place to go.
- Pros: food
- Cons: service
A surprise.... on the TABLE!!!!!
by bsteffensmith
My wife and I have been to Taiko once before, and sat at the sushi bar. The food was great, customer service not so much, but we dealt with it. My mother was in town and our usual sushi restaurant, TOMO (highly recommended) was not open due to power outage from Hurricane Ike. We thought we'd give Taiko another shot. We arrived, and seated promptly ad a hibachi grill. Ordered our drinks, and just as they were delivered, SOMETHING CRAWLED ACROSS THE TABLE. If it had been on the floor, we still would have left, but MAY have come back. This is unacceptable. Unless you enjoy "surprises" crawling in your food, don't visit Taiko.
- Pros: not very crowded (see review as to why)
- Cons: surprise crawling on table
MADE ME A SUSHI LOVER!
by itznenny
My friends and I go here nearly every Friday, we are big fans of the edamame, tuna and salmon sushi, and the LOBSTER TEMPURA! It's not on the menu, usually written as a special on a dry erase board, and its astounding! It keeps bringing us back, even though the service leaves something to be desired. The past two times that I have dined there, they forgot my edamame (which was brought out to me eventually) and the second time, the waiter was gone for nearly our entire meal and we had to stand up to get his attention for refills. The service could use major improvement, but that amazing lobster tempura keeps us salivating and waiting for the next Friday. Just go and hope you get a decent waiter.
- Pros: LOBSTER TEMPURA! YUM!
- Cons: Poor service
I wish this place was at least average...
by utche96
It is very close to my home. I have given it two chances, and I've been disappointed both times. The sushi was not fresh. I did not even finish my meal the second time I visited Taiko.
Based on all the good reviews, I assume that this restaurant was good in the past. Possibly new management or just a case of a made restaurant trying to cut costs. Either way, save your money and go somewhere else.
- Pros: Sushi is not fresh
- Cons: Nice restaurant and ambience
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!
by mwfcritic
I have been going to Taiko for many years now because of the freshest sushi in Houston and relaxing atmosphere. I took some friends last week ( who had not been) and they LOVED it. We went for a birthday celebration and had the best time. Three of us had sushi and one ordered the hibachi scallops. The rolls are so big and the presentation is beautiful but more than that the taste is DELICIOUS!!! The chocolate birthday cake they brought was so rich and tasty and best of all FREE!!!! I love the place because you can go for a quiet date or take the kids and have fun watching the chef on the hibachi grill.
- Pros: food, atmosphere, price
High quality fish on a beautiful wooden boat. Horrible service
by stickybb
I ordered Sashimi Imperial for $47, it include 30 pieces sashimi from 10 kinds of chef's best choice. It includes 2 salads, 2 miso soups, and 2 bowl of sushi rice. However, when I counted it, it only has 9 kinds of fishes and total 27 pieces in total. When the server knew that she just brings me 3 pieces of tuna which is already on the boat. I told her there was tuna already and she just said we don?t have any other kind of fish for the Sashimi Combination. Moreover, she cannot name the fish.
- Pros: Quality of fish
- Cons: Service
Freshest Fish, best Sushi in town! A must!
by freddy88
Delicious. Good service. I will definitely be back! The Dancing Tuna and Rainbow Rolls were amazing. And I finally found fluke on a sushi menu out here!! It's one of my favorite fishes and out here (I am from NYC) . The only disappointment was the garden salad , I had higher expectations for the dressing. Even the dessert was terrific - we had the Chocolate Chocolate...mousse and ice cream, beautifully presented and very yummy. Taiko is only a few blocks from where we live, and we are thrilled to have found such a great sushi place so close.
- Pros: Fresh fish, good/friendly service, nice atmosphere
- Cons: It ain't cheap, but it's worth it

Great quality food, worm and cozy atmosphere, good price, and friendly service will definitely make you regular customer of Taiko. Sushi lovers!!! Do not hesitate to try ?Cajun Philly Roll? the chef?s special. It's good stuff.
