Erased again

by frank02 at Citysearch

This will get erased again because they complain but I will keep writing it. I was there about 2yrs ago and was not impressed with the prices and how clean this place is. To add insult to injury I was charged an extra $100 when I accidently left my wallet. I came back an hour later searching for it and my credit card was out of place. I have heard stuff like this happen before here and im not impressed. I do have a fraud report I made with HPD so anyone doubting this I do have proof. Also 5 months ago I drive by and several asian men are fighting outside and 6 HPD units showed up. What kind of place is this right in the middle of the elite Tanglewood area.

Cheesy

by ajishi at Citysearch

The food was ok, but the place was cheesy. I felt like I was stuck in the 80's with the whole hibachi cook theme going. Not only that, we were treated to a fabulous strobe light show (which came from the fan hood). I thought I was at a rockets game when the lights dimmed. It was quite entertaining actually. But you get the picture.

  • Pros: sushi was decent
  • Cons: Better light show than galleria on thanksgiving, cheesy novelty theme going

Mistake after mistake

by fanny23 at Citysearch

After having been there one time and liking it, I took my mother visiting from France and my daughter for the Hibaschi experience.

After 15 minutes a women tell us to change of table because this one was reserved . We gladly move to another table in the back room. They had just turned on the air, so we fanned ourselves with the menu. To appologize they offered a soda on the house. The cook arrived and made our food. In 5 minute he was done, NO FUSS, NO FUN. Surprising considering the fact that the table next to ours' cook (table of 4), having started before us, was still there after our's had long gone. After just having received my forgotten rice, WE WERE TOLD TO MOVE AGAIN! Then waiters didn't even bother bringing us all of our food!

By the time we began to eat, IT WAS COLD! They told us that since we were moved twice we would get a "huge" discount. We ordered dessert and the waitress says it would be on the house. Then the bill arrived. WE were charged for the "free" soda, the only discount we had was the dessert. I didn't want to make a scene and having my mother inconfortable. I asked the waitress about the discount and the soda, she came back a $12 discount on a $75 bill (still charging us the "free" soda)

I went the next day, thinking that I deserved an apology from the manager for the awful service. I was met by the same woman and the owner who then apologized, offering me lunch, a refund, as well as another meal for free. I declined lunch offer, agreed for a refund. After checking with my bank and not seeing the refund, I called them. I tell the manager my story ; speaking over me, and very rudly, he denied the bad service and the agreement we had previously made with the owner and woman. In addition to that, HE COMPLAINED ABOUT NOT HAVING LEFT A TIP!!! He then told me to never come back or he would call the police.

All this could have been avoided from the start if they had just said they COULDN'T SERVE us.

Try Harder...

Great customer service

by kda1982 at Citysearch

Went here for lunch the other day with a group of co-workers and had an awesome experience! The hibachi style cooking was wonderful. The server/chef was great! Very entertaining and energetic. Took a little longer for lunch then it would have to just order the food from the menu, but it was well worth it! Prices are also great. Very reasonable for lunch!

Quick & Fresh

by gibs1296 at Citysearch

I was in a hurry to get home, but had a craving for sushi. I had never been to Mikado until yesterday and the sushi was great! I had a spicy tuna roll and a crazy roll, both were excellent. The price was very reasonable and the employees were friendly and curtious. I will go back soon!

  • Pros: Quick service, fresh sushi

YUMMY

by ms_liz_ms at Citysearch

I have been several times, and the food is always fresh. The staff is very nice and prompt. I will come again for sure. I usually order the California rolls. I give this place two thumbs up, as I usually rush in, order and take my food back to the office, and they have always been very fast to get my order out.

  • Pros: Fresh food, good service, lots of choices
  • Cons: can't think of any

Great semi-casual sushi place

by 77024diner at Citysearch

I love the scorpion roll and the volcano rolls. The 2 together are aesthetically pleasing and sufficient for a meal. The lunch sashimi plate is good and more than you can eat. The pieces are rather large (as is the american-style sushi) but very tasty. A nice menu. Perfect for lunch or a semi-nice dinner. The prices are great, too.

Not to be confused with Miyako, this Japanese newcomer sparks up Tanglewilde.

The Scene
Brace yourself for a Japanese steakhouse with theatrics similar to Benihana's. The sushi bar buzzes, but the high-energy hibachi room is where all the action is. Celebratory groups gather to watch master Japanese chefs twirl knives, juggle raw eggs and ignite meats in high flames. Kids shout "Cool!" as the chefs perform culinary tricks.

The Food
Although the show is fun, silver palates will prefer the ultra-fresh, creative sushi. Nibble on the artistic caterpillar roll, a curvaceous critter plated in glowing avocado slivers; Mikado's crunch roll, with crispy shrimp and crabmeat; or the mountain-esque Fuji roll, baked with smoked salmon. Hibachi grill-table specials come with miso soup and a ginger-dressing iceberg salad, both under par, as are the oily pan-fried dumplings and brackish udon. Hibachi shrimp is also forgettable, but buttery veggies and succulent sirloin will have you salivating.

Great place for groups!

by lisacas1 at Citysearch

Great food, very fresh! Reasonable prices and a great place to take a group! The service was so-so. The waitresses were not friendly or very attentive. They need to work on their customer service skills, other than that, food was delicious! You get a lot for what you pay for, better than Mikayos!

  • Pros: inexpensive, good parking, atmosphere
