A Houston burger institution...
by cougaboutown
Beck's has a wide variety of burgers and mine have always been good. That said, they're pretty pricey for what you get. On the other hand, some of their locations are great including one with a huge oak tree beneath which diner's can eat in an almost park-like atmosphere. I prefer the local Barnaby's chain of burger places; table service for just about the same price.
- Pros: Good hamburgers
- Cons: Can be a bit slow and not a great value considering no table service.
Great Burger!!!
by twizznuts
I love the burgers because it's cook to order and it's always juicy. You can tell it's made fresh just from the taste. The food is pretty consistant, unlike other hamburger places.
A Great Menu Keeps Getting Better!

Everyone who has eaten at Becks knows that the food quality is some of the best in town. If you want frozen burger patties or reconstituted chicken or french fries with a hundred ingredients, you go somewhere else. If you want your food cooked to order (and that means if you want medium rare, you get it. Not like at other places where you can only get your burger medium because they've already cooked it) you come to Becks. I used to order the Hickory Burger all the time, but now that they've added the Ahi Tuna sandwich, I order that at least twice per week. Yesterday, I ordered the Mediterranean salad with Ahi Tuna on the side, and it was awesome.
OVER RATED

Beck's Prime is the most overrated restaurant chain in the Houston area. Poor value for the money, very average quality food. I have eaten at three of the locations, including the one in The Woodlands, Kirby, and Memorial Park. One can walk across the parking lot to Fuddruckers in Grogan's Mill where burgers can be customized with better quality meat and veggie toppings. I know this stuff! Take my advice -- only eat here unless other options are exhausted! I just hate getting ripped off at restaurants with mediocre chow.
- Pros: Locations, ambience
- Cons: Lousy food, high prices, poor overall value
Best hamburger in Houston.
by montieferns
We have been coming to Houston for over a year now and have searched very hard for a good place to eat.
Today we found that place. Everything was homemade and very good. It was very clean and the help was very friendly. I highly recommend this Becks Prime.
- Pros: Very good home cooked food.
- Cons: Parking area limited.
Awesome burgers but so much more - you definitely get what you pay for. Never a long wait. It's fast food!?!?

Becks Prime not only has the best hamburgers in town but they also offer many other items that I love. The steak sandwiches, stuffed potatoes, FAJITAS, and the milkshakes are all delicious and they have the best queso in town - far better than the Mexican food restaurants - and I love Mexican food! Take home steak dinners from the drive-through on special occasions beat many of the best steakhouses I have been too - you probably think I am crazy but try it and you will understand! I love the outside seating and the employees are always very friendly and helpful. If you want cruddy cheap fastfood - go elsewhere, you will get what you pay for at Beck's Prime. (This is the first time I have ever posted anything on the internet - my husband had to help me - testament to Beck's Prime. Also, I am an expert on queso, trust me)
- Pros: Great value and great service. Any way I want it. Cannot believe it is fast food. Unique.
- Cons: Can you build one across the street from me? Please?
Best Burger I've Ever Had
by coerte07
The best thing about Becks Prime is that even though I eat there a lot - at least 2-3 times per week - I still haven't gotten tired of the menu. Sometimes I order a chicken sandwich, sometimes a steak, sometimes a burger or a salad. The food is always fresh, and the employees are friendly, and I can customize any dish I want. The burgers are 1/2 pound and juicy, and they're way tastier than other restaurants (Fuddruckers, Red Robin, Chili's, etc) plus they're less expensive because I don't have to tip a waiter. I used to visit Houston a few times per year, and now one of the best things about living here is that I get to eat at Becks any time I want.
- Pros: Fresh food, Mesquite grilled, very friendly employees
Stick to the Burgers
by mrtmize
The Sugar Land location has without a doubt, the best cheeseburger in town. Get the JB Burger!! Whataburger doesn't even belong in the same category with Becks. They need to work on the grilled chicken and grilled vegetables though. The chicken was tough and the vegetables tasted like lighter fluid. Love the outside dining. Get the burger, you'll be happy you did, trust me!
- Pros: Outside Dining
Prices up, quality down
by elwood
We are long time customers. Since we walk in the park 5 days a week we were lunching there probably at least 2 to 3 times a week. They recently increased their prices---which we didn't mind. But the quality of the food skyrocketed down! The caesar salads are now covered in watered down dressing, plus the sizes have halved while the price went up $1.50. We ordered a chicken dish which now costs $15 (which we can get in a nice restaurant for the same price or less with a lot more & better food) and there was hardly any food on the plate: 2 small chicken breasts and about 5 mushrooms with a bit of melted cheese. Not good! When my husband asked about the order he was told "I know you'all are long time customers" & "sorry". Nice place to eat outside but we're giving it up for awhile to see if they bring the quality of the food back up.
- Pros: nice outside eating, fast
- Cons: quality of food went down as well as quantity
This homegrown chain of upscale drive-thrus is known for its grilled swordfish sandwiches and thick strawberry milkshakes.

In Short
This Memorial Park Golf Course operation is a favorite stop for the various joggers, tennis players, softball players and bicyclists who work up a sweat and an appetite in the park. Burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, salads and decent fries fill things out. They also make a mean chili dog. And even if you're not among the few, the proud, the exercised, the park setting is a welcome urban retreat.
