way better than the one in Sugarland

by houstonislame

Ubiquitous cover band plays loudly, which is okay because of the large patio area and demarcation of the bar area. Seating is tricky, but free. Everyone is friendly, but somewhat repressed. Overall, a good fall-back joint for sipping or getting smashed. Didn't try the food, but who really needs that?

  • Pros: good for lightweights and heavyweights
  • Cons: not enough chairs for all the tables

Corporate Craphouse

by slowandsteady

Unless you are the type that enjoys a dinner out at Chili's or Outback Steakhouse, avoid this dump at all costs. I was lured here by the super-cheap happy hour, only to find out that Fat Tire (from Colorado) is not considered a domestic beer and is not on the happy hour. Additionally, I had a super bitchy waitress that was also a little slow on the uptake. And finally, the menu is a heart attack waiting to happen. Like I said, if you have any taste, you wouldn't like this place...

  • Pros: Bad service, bad food, lame environment
  • Cons: cheap crappy beers (miller, bud, coors)

A great night out!

by beerdrinker13

I went in on a Friday night and it was slam packed! I was very surprised at how friendly and efficient the staff were with it being so busy! There was live music, a huge patio, and not to mention surprisingly good food! There was a big group of us so i figured the tab would be huge, we were all amazed at how inexpensive the food and drinks were. Not to mention, having an attractive staff didn't hurt either! WE plan to go back soon. I highly recommend!

Great food and drinks!

by karissaandjordan

My fiance and I stopped here while visiting Houston. We stopped on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed their great priced lunch menu! I highly reccommend the grape and almond chicken salad, it was huge and cheap! We both had our fill of margaritas (the Patron is the best)! Also try the frozen mojito if its hot outside! Only downfall was that service was fairly slow...but we just ordered a drink, sat back, and waited.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, DRINKS, cheap food!
  • Cons: Service, parking

Baker St. still rocks

by allshookup

Don't know what the review before me is talking about! I came online to write a review of the great time my friends had happy hour Monday. (Maybe we had too many margaritas?) Best place for happy hour hands down. Drink prices can't be beat and I've always gotten great service. Hmm. Don't know what happened to the homestyle101. Must be a personal thing.

  • Pros: Happy hour

Worst service in the Rice Village

by homestyle101

Bakerstreet has gone waaaaaaay downhill. Everyone who works in this establishment, from the bartenders to the waitresses are rude with aweful attitudes. The waitresses resemble Umpa Loompas. If they were painted green, it would be very difficult to tell the two apart.

Stay away from this bar!!

Bad Experience

by dvjhnsn

They were were close and have an upscale looking pub. Everything went down hill after we walked in the door. The food and drinks were average, at best. Waitress / service was very slow, ended up with the wrong order and they were not very busy. What a lousy experience.

  • Pros: Nice looking pub
  • Cons: Poor service, average food, an overall bad experience.

Stop searching. British grub and suds are overflowing in the Rice Village.

The Scene
It's not just steak-and-pint night that attracts crowds at Baker's Street, a handsome, convivial English pub. Every night seems to draw Rice students on study breaks, hip moms, dudes in surgical scrubs and all ages and professions in between. You want darts? Pool? Noise? You got it.

The Draw
If heavy food is on your hit list, you've come to the right place. In the seafood department, catch fish 'n chips, a generous portion of beer-battered Icelandic cod that's sea-fresh but a tad greasy. Chips (fries) are snappy and suitably seasoned, served alongside a hefty, impressively grilled tuna steak sandwich or the pungent Stilton sirloin burger.

best social scene / pub in rice village

by missorenishii

this is quite a popular spot to hangout and socialize with friends ... so popular it gets really crowded and very hard to find a spot to sit down. the live music further livens up the already hyped crowd and the ambience is laid-back and chill. you'll find a nice mix crowd here looking for fun while doing loads of predrinking. *

  • Pros: social scene, live music
  • Cons: crowded, loud, parking

Not Great

by ceschauff

Took my niece there for her birthday and it was okay. I doubt that I would go back again. The happy hour was less than expected and the crowd was boring.

  • Pros: Can't think of a thing
  • Cons: Parking! Parking! Parking!
