Come see for yourself

by OpenMind at Citysearch

Old Town Spring is a well thought out, unique destination in North Houston. It 's an old railroad town which was rescued from disappearing about thirty years ago. Spring has allowed people to start small businesses and succeed plus given Houston a place unique in it's various stores and the festivals it sponsors each year. A large historical organization works tirelessly to bring improvements ,keep property values high and visitors interested in visiting. Come see for yourself the magic of Old Town Spring.

  • Pros: unique shope, festivals, easy to get to
  • Cons: Very busy during festivals

Dirtiest Place on earth

by AlSaxe at Citysearch

Disgusting garbage refuse, people urinate and heave for two weekends every year-on every part of the town during Crawfish. No one spends a nickle to pressure wash or clean the area up. Gross is not the word.

The hallmark of this town is that they invented swine flu. If you really want to be impressed search the 68 registered predators in the town zip code 77373.

  • Pros: One Less Place to Spend Money At
  • Cons: Dirty as all Heck

So much FUN!!!

by elopez1984 at Citysearch

This is a fun place to go if you love to shop but are in the mood for something on a smaller scale. We love to take our kids here and have a girl's day out. We love to walk around, grab an ice cream from Puffabelly's and window shop on days when money is tight. It's just so quaint and most of the vendors are very friendly.

  • Pros: Fun and quaint
  • Cons: alot of walking

Tacky, over-priced and shabby

by hwickham at Citysearch

Don't be lured in by the claims of historical significance, this tacky conglomeration of stores are over-priced and mainly sell products made in China.

  • Pros: Good for presents for people you don't like
  • Cons: Tacky, over priced, shabby

Excellent Place to Visit a few times a year

by shoppingfool2008 at Citysearch

As a shopper who visits Old Town Spring seasonally and for many years .. I felt I had to leave an adequate review so people knew TRULY what this town is about.

This is a wonderful place to visit and do a little shopping and lunch on a season basis. For example Spring brings the bright colors and easter/valentines type merchandise out. And while I agree with the one of you that left the review that SOME of the shops are over priced.. I have to say unless you have been out to Old Town Spring this year that is NOT entirely true anymore. MOST of the shop have better prices and the variety of shop themes/merchandise is much different now...Country decor people.. try Apple Annie's(and don't forget to pick up one of their authentic caramel/chocolate covered apples), or try for more gifty items..CharCheri and the Cottage. Home Decor and Accessories? Try A Little Something Different they are VERY reasonably priced! Also try Teapots and Lollipops, Libby Lulu's J&B Collectibles, the best pet store is Haute Dogs and to eat.. well my fave is the newly renovated Bluebonnet Cafe! And if they are too busy try the British Tea Room. And for something sweet DEFINITELY get your Funnel Cake!!

Old town spring is truly a wonderful experience and has changed Drastically in the past few years for the BETTER! I hope this helps some of you and I apprecaite the read!

  • Pros: Experience, Funnel Cakes, Shopping
  • Cons: ONLY on some weekends and Holidays is the parking

Avoid Ellen's Cafe

by kim0221 at Citysearch

The shopping at Old Town Spring was delightful. Our dining experenience was not. The staff was rude. The food was mediocre. Chicken salad was dry and the chicken noodle soup was all broth. Will go again, but not to Ellen's.

A Must See at Christmas! Step back in time!

by alley02 at Citysearch

Old Town Spring is like stepping back in time at Christmas. The sounds, smells and the twinkling lights at night especially are beautiful! Some shops have extended hours during the holiday season. This is a leisurely shopping experience. Antiques are a bit scarce, but unique items with old world charm are available! If you want bargains - go to Walmart. Parking may be a challenge during peak times but can be worked around. Well worth the time. Not a place for small children as shops tend to be a bit tight and quaint. Totally boring for children unless you like being tortured while you shop!

  • Pros: festive, colorful, unique
  • Cons: parking, bargains

A century-old country village that's been polished into a gift-shop paradise.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Jaded city dwellers should check their cynicism for "country-cute" at the hitching post, because this 100-year-old village has plenty of it: cobblestone streets, restored homes, carriage tours, down-home food, a gazillion arts-and-crafts shops, and family entertainment at its Texas best.

The Goods
Check out the antiques, arts, clothing, candles and Christmas collectibles: These gift shops are loaded with loot for all the foodies, bird lovers, kite enthusiasts and cowboy connoisseurs on your list. Bone up on the lay of this rail boomtown land at the Spring Historical Museum. Take tea at the British Trading Post and Restaurant or grab a delicious burger at the historic Wunsche Bros. Cafe & Saloon. The Fourth of July and the holiday seasons are high times in this settlement with all manner of special events.

Go only at Christmas

by Duffy_Dog at Citysearch

There are some excellent shops, but parking is a problem, and crowds can ruin the experience. Some shops are dramatically over-priced, and overall, the experience is not very good except at christmas time.

There should be a law requiring that everyone visit Olde towne spring at Christmas

  • Pros: Unique, Variety, Quality
  • Cons: Traffic, Parking, Value
