Disappointing crawfish
by nemo13 at Citysearch
It looked to me that 2007 would be a good year for crawfish. Had some nice sized crawfish in March right here at Mardi Gras. Came back for the MG 3lbs for $10 crawfish in mid April and they sure seemed smaller. Just to be sure I went right over to Rajin Cajun on Richmond and had some mudbugs nearly three times the size of the ones I had just left. The only conclusion I can make is that Mardi Gras Grill buys mediums in order to offer a "deal". Very discouraging. I know I paid a lot more at Rajin Cajun but they were worth it.
HUGE spicy crawfish
by chiceater55 at Citysearch
We heard that the crawfish here were awesome and boy did we hear correct! The crawfish at Mardi Gras are gigantic, wonderfully spiced, and affordable! On Tuesdays you can get 3 lbs for $10.50 which is a great deal considering the size! Any other day they are $4.95 which is still pretty good. If you have a craving for mudbugs - head on over to Mardi Gras. And even if your friends want crawfish and you don't, you can still join them since there's a large menu filled with tons of succulent seafood treats!
- Pros: Boiled Crawfish, Large Menu
Best Cajun in Town...
by fields098 at Citysearch
Coming from Cajun Country... this is just like being home. The food is great, reasonably priced, and the service is quick and tentative. Don't be fooled by the big chain restaurants... this is the real deal!
- Pros: Parking is great... lots of it!
- Cons: Your eyes are bigger than your stomach! Food is so tempting you order more.
Biggest Crawfish!

This is where I have gotten the biggest crawfish in Houston, they never put the little ones that are hardly worth the energy to peel. Great price on beer too!
Best Cajun food in town

You will not find better jambalaya west of New Orleans then the jambalaya at Mardi Gras Grill. At lunch they serve hearty portions along with great fresh bread. I love to sit outside on the patio and eat a couple of dozen oysters or tear through pounds of the best crawfish in the city. The staff is knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. Mardi Gras Grill is a great place to eat and have a couple of cold ones before heading to the Astros games.
- Pros: jambalaya, huge crawfish, fresh oysters
- Cons: I just wish crawfish season was all year
great food, terrible service

Everything I have ever ordered has been incredible, the serice has never been close. I highly recommend their creay crawfish bisque. It's the best I have ever had.
- Pros: great authentic food
- Cons: bad bad bad service

Mardi Gras Grill has some hits, some misses

My dinner club Eight Friends Out got to chow down at Mardi Gras Grill for 3 nights. The food was great--very spicy--my Cajun potatoes made my head lift off!!! Others praised the shrimp stuffed with crab meat and the blackened tuna. The Mississippi Mudslide was the favorite dessert, a chocolatey cream pie...tres delicieux!
Had a problem with the night managers trying to dissuade us from coming each night--they didn't like the large group taking up space. The first night, I was overcharged, but the General Manager was apologetic and made everything right. The third night was perfect, except now the night managers don't like me--c'est la vie! The wervers who waited on us, though, were fabulous! So, I have to say that, despite a few bad apples, the experience was tres bon, thanks to the professionalism of the GM Ronnie (Kudos!), the hard working servers, and the great Cajun food!
- Pros: Spicy food, Friendly servers, GM is a pro
- Cons: Refused reservations, Nite Mgt unfriendly, Not good for groups
best catfish in the world!!!
by wgzn at Citysearch
normally i dont enjoy catfish. because it usually tastes like mud. but one afternoon the travel channel was doing a story on various catfish places across the nation. suddenly i was hit with an overwhelming craving for the stuff!
considering that i live about 8 blocks from mardi gras, it was an obvious choice.
i was surprised with the "un-muddiest", freshest, least greasy, best catfish i'd ever had.
suspicious that maybe theyd run out of catfish and served me something else, i've been back twice more since and each time its been exactly the same - fantastic.
i dont know what these guys are doing, BUT IT WORKS!
service is good, easy parking and a relaxed atmosphere. price is a bit steep for what the product is, but at the end of the meal - you wont care!
- Pros: catfish!!!!, catfish!!!!, catfish!!!!
OUTSTANDING!

As a proud Spanish Cajun, I opt to pursue the finest, and shall I say sloppiest cajun restaurants, but this place was none too shabby. Mardi Gras Grill, formerly Floyd's has crawfish only one can fantasize about. I go to New Orleans, very often and have had crawfish there and they were nasty and tasted like the swamp. These are beautiful, red shelled crawfish; with beautiful white meat inside. I used to go here so much for the crawfish, that they started to know me and still do.
- Pros: THEIR CRAWFISH, Crab dip(depends), Location
- Cons: Not enough zydeco, Sports is always on, Service, isnt the bes
