Best Cajun in Town...

Coming from Cajun Country... this is just like being home. The food is great, reasonably priced, and the service is quick and tentative. Don't be fooled by the big chain restaurants... this is the real deal!
- Pros: Parking is great... lots of it!
- Cons: Your eyes are bigger than your stomach! Food is so tempting you order more.
Wasn't what we expected

I am not sure the crawfish were purged. There were a few crawfish that had a really bad smell to them. Other than that, they were a nice size and had a pretty good flavor.
- Pros: nice waiter
Crawfish were too small and old

It had been a while since I ate here, but my last memory of it was good. This time around I was extremely disappointed. The crawfish were too little to eat, and many of them were bad and overcooked. It actually grossed me out.
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Will never go again. A group of us, about 20 people, went for the mardi gras celebration. They expected us to all sit at two tables and the waitress commented the whole time about the size of the group, how we couldn't sit at more than one table and it was "ridiculous" and how she didn't want to be there. Her attitude didn't change and the rest of the staff were just as rude in addition to not knowing the menu or prices. To top it off everyone in the party was getting charged different prices for the warm beer, that they ran out of ice to keep cold. When I complained to the GM about the staff and pricing she was almost as rude as her staff and offered no apologies or even acknowledgement of my complaint. I had heard so much about the fat tuesday celebration here and it was a huge letdown. If it happens every year you would think the staff would be prepared to handle it. P.S. with only one restroom be prepared to find your car surrounded by tissue paper where party goers went out to the parking lot. EWWWW.
- Pros: sell beer
- Cons: ran out of ice for beer, one restroom, rude staff
The real deal

After reading the mostly positive reviews on this restaurant, I thought I should give it a try since I was in the mood for some good Cajun cooking and I wanted to try a new place. It was everything I was hoping for: delicious food, unpretentious atmosphere, friendly service and all at a reasonable price. We will definitely be coming back!
- Pros: Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices
- Cons: none

My mouth is still watering... I Just got back from Mardi Gras where I had a pound of boiled crawfish and some amazing courbouillon. The gumbo roux sauce was fantastic. The crawfish was the most satisfying 5 dollars I've spent in the last year. They were cooked just perfect, nice zing on the spices, wonderfully tasteful, bold flavor yet fresh, I've had crawfish 5 different times this last month but nowhere NEAR as good as at this wonderful uptown dive. I'd go back tomorrow except I'm leaving for Boston for a week... I told them I'm coming back for even more crawfish the day I get back!
My wife enjoyed the stuffed shrimp as well... she's not a fish eater (usually) but liked the roux sauce with flakes of catfish and crawfish so much she's going to order that Courboillon the next time too!
I must admit, I'm really happy I finally tried Mardi Gras Grill....

After reading some of the comments made about this restaraunt, I'm really shocked. A friend of mine told me about this place, so we went, and I loved it! Starting with the Creole Crab Dip and a few other apps. I had a few #'s of Crawfish, which were excellent by the way. I know its not New Orleans, but pretty damn close. Service was great, management seemed to be on top of things. I can't think of one thing to complain about. I realize how expensive Crawfish is now days, but thats everywhere if you eat them. I've gone to places with good/cheap deals on boiled crawfish, you get what you pay for. Also, for the member "BWK", stop going if you dont like it so much. You sound like a total Ba Ba BIATCH to me!
Worst Crawfish Ever

We are from New Orleans. The crawfish here were a terrible disappointment. It was as though they were boiled in dirty salt water and then rolled in spices. Who ever heard of outside spices on crawfish?!! We have yet to find decent boiled crawfish in Houston unless we boil ourselves. The gumbo was pretty good. The appetizer platter ok, but just not authentic New Orleans, more like bready , soggy fry.

the food is simply rediculously good. I wish it was bit bigger but it is real good. I've never been to a place that embraces the Mardi gras spirit so well. I mean from the moment you walk in you can feel the cajun warmth. The bartenders are quick to refresh my favorite brew. Im going again after work...i love it!
- Pros: everything
- Cons: nothing
Great Service, Great Staff & Great Food

Wow! I was so surprised to hear the review on 4/9/2008. I had just the opposite impression of Mardi Gras Grill. The waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and very helpful. The management is great! I had them be more than helpful to myself, my family, my children and handicapped family member. They went out of their way when they really did not have to do so. The food was great, the serve fast and efficient: the drinks (water & soft drinks) were always full, food arrived on-time, warm, tasty, exactly as described and the portions were so huge we took half of our food home for leftovers. As for parking--that complainer must have been drunk or confused---Mardi Gras Grill pays to rent a whole parking lot for their restaurant across the street and it clearly marked. Unfortunately patrons too cheap to apy valet at new places like Soma, WE & Max's use the Mardi Gras lot---I wonder when Mardi Gras will start towing????? Mardi gras Grill is great authentic Cajun cuisine with fabulous staff!. Some people just cannot be happy with anything---maybe that person was really rude or drunk & the managers were simply short to avoid unpleasantries with a unreasonable person.
