we had our daughter's wedding reception here last year and everything was superb. went for dinner on Christmas Eve and had a very mediocre experience. Set menu was unimaginative and limited. Quality of everything was below ave. room was too bright which diminished atmosphere. maybe the chef was on vacation! but will take some convincing to try again.
A Pleasant Surprise --- Great Service

I took my out-of-town guest to The Remington because I heard they hired a new chef and there has been a menu change. I've been to the restaurant several times in the past and it was good. To my surprise, the food was better than I could have imagined. The servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and even helped to pair my menu choice with wine. I plan on being a regular at the restaurant.
- Pros: great food, friendly servers
- Cons: need to valet park
Highly rated... and deservingly so!

We decided to give Remington a try after reading online that they were rated one of the best by Zagat. I can definitely see why! The service was impeccable and the crab cakes were the best I've ever had. My husband had the filet and loved it. We're planning on returning, but next time will make it a weekend and stay the night at the St. Regis. Lovely restaurant and hotel!!!
- Pros: the food and the service
Best Restaurant in Houston

I recently went to the Remington Restaurant with my girlfriend this past weekend. To say the least, it was phenomenal. I was warmly greeted by the hostess, Kristen, who gladly showed me to my table. I was then promptly greeted by our waiter, Nelso. He was very knowledgeable about the food menu and wine list. I started off with the goat cheese salad, which was so beautifully plated; I almost didn't want to eat it. After the salad, I was then greeted with another masterpiece, my entree. I had the Fruit de Mare. Eating out a lot, I was scared to order a seafood dish because it is often overcooked, but the lobster, scallop, and shrimp couldn't have been cooked any better. I summed up my dining experience with a Creme Brulee, which also was delightful. My girlfriend had the Tortilla Soup, the Duck Sampler, and ended with a Trio of Chocolate. She told me that it was the best restaurant experience shes has ever had. I think my girlfriend was a little upset I was more into my food than her. To sum it all up, the food is world class, the prices are very reasonable, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommended this fine establishment.
- Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
- Cons: nothing
Pleasant Surprise !

I brought my husband and out of town friends to the Remington and thought going to the restaurant at the St. Regis would be a treat. The Remington lived up to all our expectations (try the duck sampler if available- the waiter said the menu is seasonal). Service was great! They let us talk and just enjoy ourselves.
We like trying new places and this restaurant exceeded our expectations. We definately will be going back sooner than later.
- Pros: Great food, seperate valet from hotel, friendly waiters
- Cons: none
Bad night?

I went on Saturday evening with my family to celebrate my stepmother's 60th birthday. The place is beautiful but weirdly quiet. We were the only diners on a Saturday evening and just knew something was amiss.
Our waiter seemed inexperienced and had a hard time understanding our questions. When asked about recommendations, he seemed to be unfamiliar with the menu.
I had the seabass which was absolutely delicious and my husband had the halibut which was spectacular. However my stepmom had the ribeye which was very tough. She sent it back and ordered the Sea Bass. It took 30 minutes and it came out charred.
There are a lot of rave reviews but considering the price, the lack of good service and inconsistent food quality, we won't be back.
- Pros: Ambience, decor, Parking
- Cons: Service, inconsistent quallity of food
Great Food !! Great Atmosphere!

I love the Remington, which is the restaurant inside the St. Regis Hotel hidden away on Briar Oaks Lane! The food is wonderful and the elegant, but not stuffy dining room is beautiful.

After deciding to stay at the St. Regis for two nights while the plumbing was being tweaked in the new home we are building, my wife and I made reservations and ventured down into the Remington. We ate outside and had a wine pairing dinner, with artful suggestions by our server.
The Remington Tortilla Soup was a big favorite of my wife's, but actually, everything we ordered was excellent. The NouvelleAmerican/Texas inspired cuisine is quite a change for both of us because we come from London and New York, where this is quite a novelty. Love it! Will be back!
Atmosphere and style to spare

I love walking into The Remington. It impresses as soon as you walk in. The dim lights, the cozy tables, the friendly staff. You know you are going somewhere special. The food is great, too. I'd order the steak. They know how to do a medium-rare.
