Food is nothing related to Taipei

Went to this places because of its name and was expecting authentic Taiwanese cuisine, but turned out to be over priced westernized Chinese food. The pepper steak I ordered was mediocre... not spicy at all, but sweet and sour. Hot and sour soup was disappointing, too. Egg roll never came to our table. Waitress knows only little english and mandarin chinese...
Not recommended if you are looking for real Chinese food.
- Pros: Parking, Ambience
- Cons: Food, Service
Haven't had a bad dish yet.

This is one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in Houston. We even drive from NW Houston to dine there. Our favorite is the Shreaded Pork with Garlic Sauce.
Very friendly staff, simple but fresh, clean Chinese food

Staff was *very* friendly, glad to see us, and seemed to know many of the dinner regulars. Food was 'straight up' Chinese-style, but very well executed, fresh and subtle. Didn't see much on the menu that really sparked our interest, but we enjoyed what we ordered, except for the requested extra garlic on the sautéed spinach. We must have thrown the cook a little, as we got thick chunks of barely cooked garlic. Won't be making special requests again, but by the look of the clientele, the food really pleases those without really high expectations. Well above the average quality, and thoroughly recommended for 'safe' US-style Chinese dining. Not expensive, but clean and efficient. Nice booths, but air not moving much, so we got a little uncomfortable.
- Pros: Fresh, simple food, friendly efficient staff
- Cons: Lacklustre menu
This Chinese restaurant may not wake up your jaded palate but it can dazzle with little surprises.

In Short
Bordered by generous sunny windows, the cafe's deep booths are roomy and comfortable. Overhead lighting is gentle, all of which can lead to leisurely chatting and never-ending tea sipping. Steamed pork dumplings reign over the menu along with sweet and savory meat and shredded pork. A house specialty, shrimp and scallops in a light black bean sauce, sizzles with spicy jalapenos. Vegetarians should opt for the eggplant and steamed specialties. No barreling up to a buffet, but count on lunch specials and smaller entrees served with wonton soup for the best value.
Great Chinese

You can tell the quality of a restaurant by the number of cars in the parking lot. This place always has cars in front of it. If you come here for lunch, come early so you don't have to wait, and you can find a place to park. It's hard to find a non-buffet chinese restaurant that is not overpriced that serves great food. This place is it. The sauces are excellent. Lots of dinner choices, even a vegetarian menu. Specials include choice of soup, rice an egg roll, (and crab puff if dinner). Very affordable. I wouldn't recommend for groups because the dining room is not very big.
- Pros: attentive staff, lunch&dinner specials, huge menu
