Smart, Fair, Effective Service.
by spaceflight at Citysearch
I don't know if Ash is an engineer or not, but as one myself I can tell you that he thinks like one. His accurate diagnostics is a testament to experience and a very caliberated hearing. I mean he listens to the customer and his instinct. Combined with an obvious working knowledge of typical and new issues with specific cars/trucks, makes for one effective business. Ash will let you know your options and they don't all include getting things fixed right away and handing over your wallet. His hourly rate is fair. If you want to save money, make sure you know what part you need and shop for it yourself before bringing it to him. Outstanding service with a little extra (my truck enterior has never looked so clean, and it wasnt even in for enterior work ;-)
- Pros: Extra steps to care for the vehicle such as enterior cleaning
- Cons: Due to his ethical and effective business, Ash stays booked. Plan ahead with appointments
Honest, reliable, and right the first time

I found Ash Automotive after terminating a terrible 3-year relationship with a franchise service center on El Camino Real with a well known name (thinking flaming rock). At the other place, it seemed like whenever I took in an auto for a specific repair, the technician would first look for something else wrong and always find it, and offer to fix that before doing what I came in for. I accepted this practice until a dead battery stranded my wife and kids - I had the car towed to Ash instead of the other place, and Ash informed me that my 3 year old battery was a goner and had to be replaced. Here's the kicker: the other place sold me the battery 'new' 5 months ago.
I've since taken both of my vehicles to Ash and have been impressed with his ability to find the problem, fix it, and stop there. He listens, looks you in the eye, and delivers what he promises. He's busy, but that is a testament to his service quality.
I will never go back to the other guys, unless it is to collect on an order from small claims court.

Go to Ash's; Skip the Dealership!
by prettyboy1970 at Citysearch
Ash is honest, trustworthy, and to-the-point when informing you of what's wrong with your automobile. That's a lot more than can be said for most dealership service departments. I've done business with Ash several times over the last 5 years, and I've been happy with his work every time. He pinpoints the problem and fixes your car right the first time. He seems to understand the value of repeat customers.
- Pros: Honest; Gets it right the first time; Reasonable Cost
- Cons: Small operation, so can get busy at times
Great Customer Service

Oil was leaking out of my Lexus all over the engine mount, a-frames, etc. Took it to dealership and they quoted me an enormous repair bill. Took the car to Ash Automotive and they called me on my cell before I got one mile down the road. When I had my oil change done the attendant left the oil filter loose and it was dripping slow. Ash cleaned the engine, tightened the Oil filter, added what had leaked out back into the engine and charged me nothing. Great place, great work, very friendly but he does have a lot of business. I still take my car there. Check Engine light came on. Took to dealership just to get their tale of horror. Told me the front and rear oxygen sensors were bad. Quoted $1050.00 to fix the car. Took the car to Ash. Ash checked the car, the gas cap was loose, tightened it and the check engine light went off. Ash now does all my car repairs and my wife has her car repaired there when we need it.
Reminds me of when I was young and there were reputable repair shops.
- Pros: Great Service on everything
- Cons: Time frame for repair. Takes a little longer but worth it.
Best Mechanic I've used in Years - Maybe Ever
by dwilkers at Citysearch
Its nice to find a mechanic shop that takes pride in doing the job RIGHT. After spending over $2,000 elsewhere I got tired of paying to have my Jeep NOT fixed and ended up at Ash Automotive. Ash called and explained in detail what fault codes he was getting and explained the troubleshooting tree on it and what that meant. He replaced the parts and did the work at the price he estimated. The car is running great now, first time in years. A/C is frosty - he fixed it for less than the previous quote I had for parts alone. Yeah, THAT good.
They're very busy over there, but quality is worth the wait, or it is for me anyway.
- Pros: Excellent Quality, Job Done Right for a Reasonable Price
- Cons: Parking, Very Busy
A mechanic you can trust

A trusted mechanic, and he provides excellent service. Both Ash and his wife are very friendly people, and they go out of their way to make everything as painless as possible.

Ash and Kate are very nice and reliable and trustable. You'll have to get a referral from someone who uses them already because they supposedly don't take walk ins.
- Pros: inexpensive, reliable, trustwothy
