NEVER Again!

We sent our Ray Vac in to be fixed. The guy said that it would cost $200. I told him that was my upper limit. When he called to say it was done, he said the bill was $400 ... for a Ray Vac! ... because it is no longer in production, and parts are expensive. So, we went to pick it up, and the price then was $450 + tax, which ended up being $495 ... a long way from the original $200. He replaced parts that were still working, and put a connector on it for a Polaris, NOT a Ray Vac, so that it won't connect to the wall of our pool. Mrs. Lee would only agree to taking off enough of the replaced parts to bring the cost back down to $200 and sending someone out next week to connect it to the pool for us, while not guaranteeing that it would even work, now.
We've been customers for over 10 years, as BAPS built our pool. We'll be going elsewhere, now. Her employees lie to her, and she believes them.
- Cons: Liar, liar, pants on fire!
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I had the same experience as kjackson02. I have never written a review on the web and signed up just so I could add to this. Poor, poor customer service. I am going to pickup my part and go elsewhere. They give mom and pop businesses a bad name. What a shame.
Love our new pool

We had shopped with many local companies before deciding on building our pool with Bay Area. They were a little more expensive, but after seeing the difference in the quality of our pool and the pool my brother -in-law built with another company, I'm glad we made this choice. Very nice people to deal with, great design and we love our pool.
great service-beautiful pool

We had built another pool with a local company (that shall remain nameless) and decided to go with Bay Area when we built our new house in League City. Not only was the design exactly what we had asked for, the finished product is beautiful! We received information all through the building process as to what was going to happen next, the crews were very professional and I Have recommneded them to friends and family.
- Pros: local, long time experience
Worst Service EVER!
by ncolburn at Citysearch
Bay Area Pools service is by far the worst service I have ever received from any company. My pool was installed with little problems but after the installation was complete and I began to have problems it was a nightmare getting someone out to my house to take care of anything. Their phone is constantly busy and you have to make at least 3-4 phone calls to get an appointment for a service technician to come out to your house to access the problem. It usually takes 2 weeks before you can get scheduled for an appointment. If you call and ask to speak with Lee (the owner), she never returns your phone calls. I have had several friends over the last 3 years ask me for advice on whom to have install their pools and everytime I tell them.......DO NOT USE Bay Area Pools! Their follow up after the pool is installed is horrible!
Service Terrible - DO NOT USE THEM, FIND SOMEONE ELSE

They installed our pool in 2003 and while the initial work was good their service is terrible. We have had numerous problems with our heater and despite numerous calls it takes them two - three weeks to get out to fix it and they have consistently failed to fix it on the first trip. They are now admitting they installed a bad heater and our best bet it to replace it for $2500.
Update: Our filter literally blew it's top two weeks ago (1 week after they worked on it). They said they would have to order a new one and it would take up to two weeks but they would try to rush it. Two weeks later I called and they had trouble even finding the work order. They said they would make sure someone did it this week. Realize I know have a science experiment instead of a pool in my backyard due to the fact I have not been able to circulate water for 17 days without dumping as much on my lawn as I add in using the hose. Their service was just bad it has gone to horrible. DO NOT USE THEM, FIND SOMEONE ELSE.
Best Pool built, best service! No Questions Asked!

We built our pool in 1999, with the wrong company! Huge mistake, they were bankrupt by the end of the project. Even though the pool was paid for by us, there was a lein on our home for the balance.
We moved in 2002, we hired Bay Area Pools, They did a perfect job! They have also been here for us for any little problem now ... four years later. Continue to give great service.
They have served this comunity for many, many years, and will continue to do so. There price was very competitive, so why use a fly-by-night company? You have a solid Mom and Pop organizatoin that treat you like family.
Signed: a very happy customer

Poor customer service

I called Bay Area Pool & Spa to get a part for my pool pump becuase I wanted to give a "mom and pop" business a try; big mistake. I was told that the part would be in within five days. About two weeks later, still no part. The bad part is that the employees at Bay Area Pool & Spa have no idea of what keeping the customer informed means. I called them. They did not call me like they said that they would. I will not shop there anymore. I will go back to the "big" pool store where I have never had a problem with customer service.
