Don't let Terren (sp?)the waiter wait on you, HE IS A HORRIBLE WAITER!

by MrsLinas at Citysearch

My family and I went there last night to celebrate my birthday and was completely disappointed! I give it one star for the ambience, my children loved the huge aquariums around the restaurant, and the hostess seated us right away. The waiter, now that's a different story! This waiter by far is the worst waiter I've ever dealt with at a Landry's Inc. and we eat at Landry's Restaurants quite a lot, be it the Landry's or Joe's, Saltgrass, the restaurant at the San Luis Hotel in Galveston, well you get my drift..anyway, back to that horrible waiter I believe the name was Terren(?) lack customer service skills, no personality whatsoever. He never smiled, didn't seem to happy that he was going to wait on us, my first question to him was if they had any flavored teas..he said "Yeah" and went on the flavors ( I could never ever remember the flavored bottled teas that Landry's offer) Anyway, he said that they have Peach, Raspberry in bottles so I said I will take Peach. Well my drink came and it turns out it was Ginger Peach decaf tea! He should've told me that it was decaf tea and had Ginger flavor to it! Well, I didn't confront him because my husband said he will drink it instead. We were not offered any bread and butter, this waiter only checked on us once if we were okay and it wasn't even busy that night! He tried to give my mother the wrong order but did not apologize, he never offered for desserts, never asked if we needed refill and lastly, never thanked us for eating there and to come back again. Now for a $160 dinner meal, I expected the usual Landry's great customer service but I didn't get it this time. I did talk to the GM named Jonathan and he was very pleasant and apologetic and stated he will correct the problem for me.

  • Pros: great ambience, good food, kid friendly
  • Cons: rude waiter!

Great seafood and friendly service

by ladymccoy at Citysearch

We were seated right away. The staff was real friendly to my son. It's a nice restaurant that the whole family can enjoy. The oysters just melted in your mouth they were so good. The fish was cooked to perfection. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. It's well worth it. If you are thinking of trying this restaurant out I highly recommend it.

  • Pros: The aquariums inside the restaurant are awsome. Great food and service.
  • Cons: Can be a bit pricey

Great Atmosphere

by tra8901 at Citysearch

The atmosphere is great and it's right on the Kemah boardwalk. The fish tanks are tremendous and take up most of the walls. It's very entertaining to watch live divers in the tanks at feeding time. The food was good and waiters/waitresses were very friendly. I felt like I was dining under the sea! It was a bit pricey for the portions and had a bit of a long wait for seating. The staff did offer "pagers" so I could enjoy a drink at the patio bar outside while I waited for my table. The patio bar was friendly, and I truely enjoyed the Jimmy Buffet cover performance while I waited. This restaurant was entertaining for the kids and is able to accommodate large parties. The gift shop had a large variety of different items to purchase, however was a bit small and I felt it belonged with the rest of the shops on the boardwalk, not in the restaurant. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Aquarium and will return the next time I visit Kemah, TX.

  • Pros: Beautiful Atmosphere
  • Cons: A bit too pricey for the portions

A stunning "eatertainment" operation with eye-popping aquatic displays that make up for hit-and-miss seafood.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
You could say local restaurant czar Tilman Fertitta built this place just for the halibut--and about a hundred other species of fish displayed in the 90,000 gallons' worth of observation tanks at this spectacular "eatertainment" operation. Climbing a dramatic staircase that encircles a three-story, cylindrical fish tank, patrons find themselves in a dining room where four other aquaria provide a dazzling, nonstop parade of exotic sea creatures. Moody blue lighting reflects eerily off coral-like walls, completing the undersea effect.

The Food
Naturally, the menu is seafood-heavy and most of the offerings are satisfactory, but hardly special. Those uncomfortable about plowing into a plate of seafood while your meal's cousins swim nearby can order a serviceable rib eye or chicken dishes. Enjoying a simple appetizer and a few drinks at the bar while admiring the spectacle is always an option, too.

overpriced food

by missorenishii at Citysearch

you are really paying for the ambience and location: conveniently located on the boardwalk with nice visual feast of wall-to-wall aquarium and exotic fish, touched with trendy seafaring decor. the food is decent, but overpriced for it's quality and portion. i have had better seafood at other places that cost less. but if you want a fancy nite out, go here.*

An enjoyable Sunday afternoon

by ntramel at Citysearch

Stopped off in Kemah for dinner as was pleasantly surprised with no wait for a table at 5:30 PM. The tuna steaks were grilled to perfection and the grilled shrimp were done just right. Dinner for 4 is still around $35 each, but that included an appetizer and a couple drinks. Overall a very pleasant meal.

  • Pros: No Wait, Service, Food Quality
  • Cons: obs. view of water, a bit loud

Huge disappointment

by bell97 at Citysearch

We were told the wait was 30-45 minutes. The pager doesn't work outside their building, so you can't even enjoy the outside entertainment for your wait. We finally got to our 2nd table 1hr.15min later. They tried seating us in the hottest (80 degrees) table in the rest. first. The aquarium was interesting for about the first 15 minutes. The food was over-priced, portions were small, service was confusing (3 diff. waiters) and slow. From arrival to departure was 2hrs. 30 min. and we did not very long to eat-we were starving and there just wasn't much to eat anyway. Not a family place.

  • Pros: aquarium
  • Cons: wait, poor food, $$$$$$$$$$$

overrated, bland food

by superwick at Citysearch

Wow.. this place really sucks. The aquarium itself is pretty sorry.. I've seen better in New Orleans & Monterrey. The food is very pricey for what you get and its no good either. We had to wait 1 hr to be seated and would have left if we didn't already pay for the not-optional $5 parking.

Great Experience

by pugfriend at Citysearch

I don't know what happened with those people who had a bad experience here. I took my Mom and Dad and hubby for my Mom's birthday. The food was fantastic. Dad and my husband had the Fried seafood platter, Mom had the broiled stuffed shrimp and I had a bowl of Lobster bisque and the Shrimp Enbrochette. We all walked out with full stomachs and a smile on our faces. It was a great experience!

  • Pros: Food, Kemah Boardwalk
  • Cons: The Wait, Reservations N/A
