Ask for Natalie! She was THE BEST waitress! Food was awesome. Tortillas were HOMEMADE. That makes a big difference. Margaritas are STRONG and GOOD! I will be eating here again soon!

love it!

Wow!

Gotta love those disgruntled employees!!

As the "owner's kid", a.k.a., the G.M., I just gotta say this guy is way off!!

If you haven't been to the Don'Key, why not? Its been around so long, its practically a landmark in Pasa-get-down-dena!

Come try our famous fajitas and even more famous Don'Keyritas! They will land you on your @$$!!!

Most definitely a fun atmosphere and while your here, feel free to take a peak into the HUGE window where you can see all the action that goes on in our kitchen! All the kids love to watch the tortillas being made fresh daily!

The Don'Key isn't just an eatery, it's a party!!

  • Pros: Great service and great times..
  • Cons: There's only one location!

I USED TO WORK HERE...

by LOVEBUG88 at Citysearch

I GUESS THIS PLACE IS GOOD IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON BEHIND THE SCENE. IT'S BEEN SHUT DOWN A FEW TIMES FOR HEALTH ISSUES.EVERY MORNING IT WAS LIKE A GAME TO SEE WHO COULD FIND AND SMASH THE MOST LITTLE BROWN INSECTES (YOU CAN'T USE THE "R" WORD ON HERE). THERE WERE RODENTS THAT WOULD BE IN THE BACK BECAUSE IT WAS SO DIRTY BACK THERE.

I WOULD NEVER EAT HERE MYSELF. THE COOKS NEVER WASH THEIR HANDS AND THEY'RE DIRTY! THE OWNERS KIDS (THE ONES THAT RUN THE PLACE) WERE ALWAYS DOING INAPPROPRIATE THINGS IN THE BACK.IF PEOPLE KNEW WHAT WENT ON IN THE KITCHEN THEY WOULD NEVER EAT THERE! IT IS SO DISGUSTING!

  • Pros: IT'S GOOD IF YOU WANT TO GET DRUNK.THEY SERVE UNDERAGE PEOPLE
  • Cons: SO DIRTY!

Pasadena Tex-Mex institution for margaritas that kick like a mule and cheesy combo plates.

by Contributor at Citysearch

Part of this working class Pasadena neighborhood since the '80s, this affordable, family friendly Tex-Mex spot makes sure that nobody leaves hungry. The restaurant is on the small side, so most nights find the casual dining room moderately packed and of a slightly higher decibel than similar establishments, but waiting for a table in the bar area makes for some good people watching. The menu (featuring pricing in pesos and U.S. dollars) includes all of the expected Tex-Mex specialties including enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, nachos and a popular chile relleno. Daily lunch specials offer a good bargain.

An Institution!!!

by abinhoutx at Citysearch

The Don'Key never stops being an ultimate favorite for me and my friends. Yeah the place is a little dumpy, but it is what it is. And in my opinion it's some of the best TexMex Houston has to offer. I have to agree with another review and let you know it is, in fact, worth the drive. I've never gone wrong with the Fajitas, you have to try the Half & Half Margaritas....they are $1.99 during happy hour! Just watch yourself, if you throw back a couple of those too fast, you'll be calling a cab!

  • Pros: Great food, rediculously good Margaritas, they make you feel like you're at home!
  • Cons: Parking lot is small, pot-holed, Small dining area

Worth the Drive!

by texmex1 at Citysearch

I had been hearing about this place for years and finally got chance to try it out for lunch yesterday..

The Queso is just average, but it was better after adding some of their salsa into it.

The real hook for me was when I opened the menu and found a combo plate that I did not have to modify to get what I want! (Chalupa,Beef Taco,2 Cheese Enchiladas with onions, rice & beans)

The Enchilada sauce was fantatic, the Taco Meat had real flavor, and they cooked the Enchilada with the onions on them (the way it should be), and I would swear my long deceased Abuela was in the kitchen making the refried beans!

This place is going to be my new spot whenever I am in the area!

  • Pros: Combo Platters,Fresh Salsa, Refried Beans
  • Cons: Parking lot looks like they have been testing missles

Great place to eat!

by cookie2956 at Citysearch

This place looks like a dump, but on purpose. It's part of the ambiance that if you're not expecting, might throw you off a little. Usually packed on the weekends, get there early or expect to wait. Ritas are good but get the small one instead of the large because for the little bit more you get, it's not worth the extra $$. The fajitas are great & the tortillas are made fresh, all day. The service is excellent. The enchiladas are outstanding and the sauces are good. This is a great place to get together with friends, celebrate anything. It's always a good time, good food and good service. You can't go wrong.

  • Pros: Service is always outstanding; fun place to be & good food!
  • Cons: Small place; usually a wait in the evenings. Parking.
