Worth the long drive. A very nice shop well designed and stocked, that serves the novice, the curious, and the expert. Knowledgable staff. Bring cash so your wife won't know how much you like this place.

If it's colorful, makes noise, costs a bit of cheddar, and you enjoy an element of risk....go to RC Hobby Shop in Sugarland.

Worlds worst hobby shop!!!. I've been looking forward to visiting this hobby shop for over 2 years . I just recently moved to the greater Houston area and today I got my chance. When I walked thru the door I felt like everyone in the store was pissed off. I am currently in the market for a new 450 size heli and felt this was a good place to start, However the knowledge of rc's in this store is almost none and rudeness is in abundance. This has to be the worst hobby shop I have ever visited and I have visted a LOT of them and spent massive amounts of money on my family of 6 helis ranging from 450 size - 700 electric . I was really looking for a good local hobby shop in this area but this one is NOT IT. If you do go there and are new to the rc hobby world please don't let them discourage you, this is not what the community of rc is about in fact this is the opposite of what we are about, and there are a lot of good shops out there and a lot of really good people to visit with who have excellent knowledge of rc's .People who read this please do yourself a favor and don't even waste your gas or time on this shop.

Rude, disrespectful employees. I was in the market for a new Lipo charger. I felt like supporting my LHS (local hobby shop) so I gave the RC Hobby shop a visit. When I got there a very friendly employee greeted me and asked me if I needed help looking for anything. I told him I needed a lipo charger so he led me to where their chargers were and showed me what they had and explained to me the various features of each charger. While he was there explaining to me, another employee (David) walked by and called out "low baller central" in front of me. I did'nt know that the RC Hobby shop has a problem with customers on a budget which is pretty ironic since I had $130 to spend on a charger. I tried to support my LHS by buying from them instead of ordering online but needlees to say, after the employee referred to me as a "low baller" I walked out and ordered my charger as soon as I got home.

In another occasion before that, I was looking to buy a new radio, I asked the employee behind the counter "can i see the 3pmx?" He rolled his eyes, reached for the radio and dropped it on the counter for me to see, obviously annoyed for some unknown reason.

Not only that, they're website claims to have "over 40,000 items in stock for the kid in you to choose from". That is false. What they really mean is that their distributors (Tower Hobbies and Horizon Hobby) are the ones who have over 40,000 items in stock, NOT RC Hobby shop. If you want a certain item and RC Hobby Shop does'nt have it in stock then they will offer to order it for you and you will have to come back in 4 to 5 days. I should know, countless times I went there and they never had what I needed so they had to order my items. And like a fool, there I was making extra trips back just to support my LHS. But that was before, and now I am done with these guys.

Excellent customer service. i went in for the first time. David helped me find the exact part that i need (an ESC) and since it's an older model, they gave me a very good discount on it also!

i highly recommend this shop and will return in the future.

the best!!! *****. There are young, knowledgeable, polite employees who know what there talking about. If i have a problem they have solutions. The best customer support. They even back up there products if defective. Exchange right at the store which no internet store can do. I have had nothing but excellent service from them and look forward to every trip to see whats new as they are well stocked! If you do not get satisfaction from this store you do not belong in the hobby since they make it simple!

best hobby shop in houston area. i have found they have a great selection for my hobby needs. awesome airplane selection. they are also expanding on their heli section and is coming to be very respectable. this owner matt keller is a very knowledgable guy as well. also they have amazing customer service.

They don't care.. Called for parts for my heli. They checked stock and said that they had in the store. I drove from North Houston down to their location only to find that they did not have the parts in stock that I inquired about. A complete waste of my time!
