Editorial Review for Thai Cottage – by Citysearch Editors

The Scene
Although this snug cafe is well-hidden in a Bellaire strip mall, Thai families and fans from across town have sniffed it out as the place to get a regular Thai fix. Easily overheard movers and shakers gabbing about the social scene hit the Cottage at lunch and before nighttime escapades.

The Food
There's a convenient heat-indexed menu: Pick your spice tolerance from one to five; two has a swift kick and three sets your tongue tingling. Noteworthy Thai curry plates include a feisty favorite, red-curry chicken, with supple bites of white chicken and crisp bamboo strips swathed in velvety coconut sauce. Tender, cold spring rolls are fluffy with extra shrimp and fresh, fragrant herbs; smoky charbroiled beef salad is crunchy, cool and piquant. But a bias toward sugar hinders some dishes, like peanut sauce, cashew chicken and pad thai.

User Reviews for Thai Cottage

1 Star Rating: Not Recommended

I have dined at many Thai restaurants and I am sad to say that Thai Cottage was the worst experience I have ever had. I assured my boyfriend and friend had this been my 1st experience (as it was theirs) that I would never have tried it again. Always check the ceiling before you dine… this place is full of mold and water stains. Not a very pleasant $25.00 dining experience… I was very disappointed that the place I picked was so bad (and my friend did not eat her food) I picked up the entire tab.

Pros: None

Cons: Dark, Dingy and Food was Low Quality

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Thai Cottage is one of the best Thai restaurants in Houston. It is cozy and inviting if somewhat dark at times. The food is flavorful and spiced according to your request from mild to inedibly fiery. Their green curryn is so good, my wife and I have trouble trying anything else., but when we have it has been great also. You may choose brown or white rice and refills are usually free. Prices are around 7-8 dollars per entree --very reasonable in my experience. It is also adjacent to the Edwards theatre so convenient for movie nights. A very good chice for Thai food!

Pros: Food, Price, Ambiance

Cons: Light Control, Service mixed
