Horrible Customer Service!!! Zero stars!!!.
Just came back from JAX at 6510 S Rice. Our office called in an order and 1 employee went to go pick it up The bill was $30.58. She had $29.00 in cash and gave it to the cashier, that was when she realized she has forgotten her purse at the office. She called the office and we asked if Jax could take a credit card payment over the phone for the $1.58. Nope. She asked for her money back. Nope, it's already in the register can't give it back. The manager did nothing to help resolve the issue. She drove back to the office, we drove back to JAX, paid the difference, and I asked the manager if the $1.58 was really worth losing the lunchtime business of an entire company. She had no response other than I don't know. We're not looking for a free handout, but seriously? What a complete lack of customer service!
Oh and I forgot, we asked for salsa instead of ranch for our salads. After reviewing the bill at the office, I realized that they gave us both and tacked on a $1.50 charge. After taxes that's about $1.62....now wonder our employee was short the money on the bill.
No worries though...there's a little place down the street called The Roadster Grill at 5210 Bissonnet with great food and excellent customer service. Bye-bye Jax.
Poor Quality Control. It has been a while since I dined at a JAX Grill and will be a long time before it happens again.... especially, the grill on Bellaire. I had lunch in the Bellaire grill on Nov 18, ordering the nacho plate. After several bites, I felt something hard between my teeth. Upon extracting it, I found that it was a chip out of a plate. Although less than the size of a dime, it was jagged and sharp and could have damaged my throat had I swallowed it. When brought to the attention of an employee, the best she could do was say, "Sorry."
Editorial Review. Featuring an array of American dishes, this counter-service eatery is known for its burger menu and boisterous patrons.
Music, Music, Music. The food is always excellent and so are the prices but I often hesitate to go there because of the loud country music. If you insist on country music, play something a little more cheerful and please turn down the volume. When people go out to eat, conversation is as much a part of the occasion as the food and it is difficult to concentrate on talking when the music is so loud.
What Skeeter's Wishes it Was. Instead of focusing on what this restaurant is NOT, I'll talk about what it IS. Jax is my standby--a friendly family place where I know I'll always get a great meal at a great price. The food is simple, fresh and-dare I say-gourmet. I'm not sure why people keep putting down the fine burgers. I hardly ever get them. Jax has so much more to offer-all of it fantastic. Go for the salads (I get the Southwest Salad with fajita beef) which are topped with amazing homemade dressings. Or try the fish special of the day. The list of daily specials always features innovative items with gourmet flair, like pork loin with plum sauce, or Amber Jack with a white wine crab sauce. Sure, it's crowded, but isn't that usually a good sign? Don't listen to the complaints. Go give Jax a try!
Wonderful. This restaurant is great; my family frequents it quite often. It's often crowded, especially during the summer, but do not let that deter you from waiting in line for a great meal. It's the perfect place for you to take your kids because the atmosphere is very kid friendly and welcoming. Their burgers are great, definitely a lot better than the ones from the Bellaire Broiler Burger.
ok if you like noise.
way too noisy. too many kids, too much kid mess.
good food, nothing extraordinary, average, will do...
Spinach Enchiladas. Don't order the spinach & crabmeat enchiladas. Way too much spinach, not enough crabmeat, and the ancho sauce doesn't go with the strong taste of spinace, a white sauce of some kind would be better.
Bring your Kids. Beats the heck out of Luby's! For that matter, this place beats Skeeter's, Chilis and many others in my opinion for feeding the kids. They have everything to eat and the games to play (and the TV to watch). Not gourmet, but does the trick...
