My husband and I went to Neal's for dinner and it was very good. We were very happy! I had the sirloin steak which was delicious for only $12. They are known for their hamburgers, which I found out they ground their own meat to make and the chicken fried steak is legendary. We usually eat on the healthy side so it was nice to see that Neal’s had a bunch of options for ordering many items grilled. We tried several desserts, which I am not a big dessert fan, but these were so good that even I ate dessert and loved it. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back.
- Pros: Big menu, tons of options, friendly staff, delicious dessert
Excellent BBQ and Burgers

My wife and I went to Neals on the Friday after Thanksgiving, The main dining room was about half-full but some more people (mainly families) came later. The wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The menu was huge. They had something for everyone - steaks, burgers, seafood, Tex-Mex, a selection of local wines, an enormous desert menu. Altogether we were very pleasantly surprized. The prices for the menu items definitely beat anything you can find in the less suburban parts of Houston. I had a BBQ plate and my wife had a steak. Both were very well done. We were told the place was known for its chicken fried steak, which we will try next time. The table next to us had burgers and they looked amazing, so that's another item on my list for a future visit. We will definitely go back.
- Pros: Huge Menu; Friendly Staff; Very Reasonably Priced
unfriendly service and more

I pass this place frequently, and since we eat out appr. 3x a week, we wanted to try the homestyle cooking. Perhaps it wasn't intended, but as soon as we walked in (we're African-American), we sensed a 'cold' or 'indifferent' welcome from the gentleman at the door with the peculiar hat ! We probably should've turned around right then. We wanted to give this place an honest try, as good homemade food is hard to come by these days. We were polite to the waitress, but a smile was too much to ask, it seemed. The food was mediocre. But worst of all, out from behind the old newspaper pages that plaster the wall of our booth, appeared a small c-r----. We were very disappointed in everything, and definitely won't visit again.
- Cons: service and ambience not for us
