“genuine facility with a terrific atmosphere”
“It is a family friendly place which my daughter loves.”
Contrary to what some of these reviews. Contrary to what many of these reviews say North Houston Horse Park is an amazing training facility. I for one have been riding there for 5 years now and have never thought of leaving once! The trainers there are always supportive of the riders and teach them the fundamentals of riding, while still being able to have fun! For the more advanced riders Carli is the trainer. She has been competing for year and at a young age won the bronze medal at the junior olympics. She has competed across the globe and is the most dedicated person I have ever seen in this industry. There are trainers there for all levels of riding and for all age groups. NHHP has riders that are starting at the age of 6 and still more that are riding at the age of 85. The facility competes in local shows as well as "A" shows across the nation. Recently Carli and I returned from Kentucky and Oklahoma, having 2 very successful show standings. The horses here are taken care of with the utmost quality and are never disgruntled. Everyone here is supportive of each other and as the new students are starting out the older students help them by tacking up there horses, while still showing them how so that they could try to do it the next time. This facility has been my second home now for years and no matter what time of day I can always find a refuge here! Try the facility out for yourself and I believe you will find yourself a satisfied client!
Extremely positive and fun training environment. This facility offers premium coaching for all riding levels and all age groups. NHHP staffs several coaches for different level riders. Coach Kelly, who I started training with at age 6, teaches great basics that will enable riders to succeed at higher levels. Coach Carli, top grand prix competitor, educates the more advanced clients on technical aspects of the sport. Carli has trained on an international level and has the experience to produce top riders. Most importantly Mel, Carli, Kelly, and Tammy are all very invested in their students and genuinely care about each client's needs. The time, energy, and effort these coaches give their students is exhibited by the success and happiness of their clientele.
Wow, it's amazing that most people commenting never actually rode at NHHP or are obviously a disgruntled ex-customer from our happy acres. I've ridden at NHHP for years and the level of quality here is unsurpassed in the area. Foxinsox17 is complaining that an A-RANKED HUNTER JUDGE based their judgment on the horse and NOT the rider? Well, that's HUNTERS for you. Anyways, if you want to be trained by the best (the "young" jumper trainer mentioned earlier competes at the PROFESSIONAL level around the nation AND the world) and be surrounded by supportive people (no matter if you're just a casual rider, young or old) then come out to NHHP.
Be Warned. I've never taken lessons here, but I have been to a show. VERY UNORGANIZED!!!!!!! I was very stressed, because I didn't know what was going on. The classes took forever. They allowed the trainers to smoke around everyone and their horses. They ran out of food. They had an A level judge who basically judged the horse instead of the rider(it was a Hunter show). And one of the managers kept chugging Bloody Marys. The only good thing was that the area was pretty large. I am glad that I will not have to return for any shows this season.
Success speaks for itself. I have been riding under the guidance of the instructors at NHHP for nearly eleven years now, and I have seen lots of people come and go. The instructors here are concerned for the safety of the students and horses first, then teaching the basics, then encouraging their students to go as far as they can and do as much as they want. Recently, one of the riders here had a critique done by George Morris in Horse and Rinder magazine. He had nothing negative to say about the rider, only good stuff! That doesn't happen very often. The best part is that this picture was taken and submitted four years ago, and the rider has only improved since! The quality of instruction here speaks for itself, but you have to be LISTENING to receive it.
A genuine facility with a terrific atmosphere.
It is quite refreshing to find a sport in the Woodlands area that actually gives a realistic report and review upon your child's abilities. NHHP ensures that the best interests of the child are paramount.
Melanie and her team may not win favor with all clients, but that could be put down to the fact that not everyone likes to hear the truth. The horses are well cared for, the lessons taught efficiently and productively and the staff always friendly and welcoming. An excellent facility with many opportunities for every keen horse lover the ride, groom, show and generally feel part of the NHHP family.
Well done Mel and staff, we love you and are looking forward to many more years as clients,
Beware. Poor service, and unfair treatment of clients causes an extreme autocratic atmosphere. Trainers do not have the experience to lead their students on the correct path to being a successful jumper rider. Lesson horses have become worn down, and scruffy. The foundations ARE NOT taught here.
Great riding.
Due to the vicious remarks coming from a unhappy ex-client, we at NHHP would like to respond.
We are one of the largest English riding schools in the area, operating for 18 years. Our priorities are safety, good sportsmanship and teaching the up most quality in riding. Our show records speak for themselves. Every trainer is extremley skilled at riding, as well as teaching, with a combined total of 100 years worth of knowledge. With the volume of students we deal with, there are rules that are expected to be adhered to, for our riders safety and the well being of our horses.
Awesome Training...family friendly....great school horses!!!. My daughter has been taking lessons from this barn for 7 years. Her trainer has the knowlege and training expertise. She always places at the horse shows and repeatly wins champion of her division. The owner found this horse for us!! We currently own two horses that reside at the facility and they are well taken care of. This barn has had no out breaks of west nile or strangles. The school horses are awesome!! They are friendly and well taken care of!!! They have in barn shows and take the kids to local shows. It is a family friendly place which my daughter loves.
A Nice Boarding, Training, and Showing Barn.
This barn is located just off SH242, east of I45. It is well established and is owned and operated by Melanie Kirsche and her daughter Carlie. They train the more advanced riders, but the primary trainer is Tammy Hench, who has been with NHHP for about 15 years. Tammy has an encouraging style which makes lessons with her fun.
The school is very active with SJHSA, usually sending a larger contingent of riders than any other barn. They also attend A and AA rated shows and Melanie has barn shows as well.
There are about a dozen adult riders in lessons, male and female, who have a rollicking good time, before, and after, riding.
The facility consists of two barns, one for youth riders and one for adults. There are 4 arenas, labeled "technical", "hunter", "jumper", and "long".
