“emailed MFP to relate my disappointment and received a response stating they shredded my check for the service call and apologized for my bad experience.”
“He stated that the prices are an established "flat rate" from a MFP pricing chart & they haven't billed using an hourly rate for a few years.”
Very Satisfied Customer of Milton Frank. We recently had a water filter and softener installed by Milton Frank Plumbing and are very pleased! They even sent us stainless water bottles after the appointment to carry our awesome water with us! The two guys they sent were very nice and clean. The pricing was very comperable to the 2 other estimates that I had. I will use Milton Frank for all my future plumbing needs (hoping there are none though!)!
BIG FAT ZERO. I give Milton Franks a BIG FAT ZERO. They charged almost $300 to run a snake to clean out my sewer line. It took all of ten minutes. They wouldn't quote a price over the phone but I figured maybe $150 (I have typically paid around $100 for this type work in the past). But they ended up charging double the going rate. What a bunch of Jerks! I wish I had read the reviews before I called them. I just saw the 4 star rating. I'm sure all the positive reviews they show on the web are from employees. I will never use them again and you shouldn't either
Extremely Over-Priced. In contacting MFP & asking for a verbal estimate, I was told they couldn't quote over the phone; the plumber would give an on-site quote. When the plumber arrived he quoted $525 to install a customer supplied kitchen faucet set and garbage disposal. He stated that the prices are an established "flat rate" from a MFP pricing chart & they haven't billed using an hourly rate for a few years. So the office should have been able to give me a verbal estimate from their pricing chart. The plumber also stated he couldn't give me a ballpark estimate on how long the job would take. Surmizing no longer than a 2 hour job, I wrote a check for the $48.50 trip charge and asked the plumber to leave. I used McKinley Plumbing Services of The Woodlands, another family owned plumbing business in my area. When called, they quoted me their "flat rate" for the same jobs over the phone and when their plumber arrived he had no difficulty telling me the entire job would take approximately 1.5 hours. Able to calculate the "hourly rate" (which was still high) I agreed to the job and ended up paying $247 for the work. If Milton Frank's plumber would have done the installation in about the same time, they would have made $350/per hour. I had used MFP in the past and according to them I'm a valued customer. I emailed MFP to relate my disappointment and received a response stating they shredded my check for the service call and apologized for my bad experience. Nonetheless, I will not utilize their services in the future. I simply can't afford to pay their rates.
The JOKE was on ME!. After receiving a quote, we called them to not come back to do work. They never got hold of their crew, so their crew started. When I got hold of them again, they immediately wanted to know what they could do so I wouldn't get another estimate. They dropped the price 40%, telling me they MUST bring ALL valves to "code" before they could do the gas leak test! The joke was on ME - according to the gas company - they said none of it was neccessary, they only needed to fix the leak. The spokesman I spoke too did everything he could to talk me out of getting a second opinion, thousands of dollars later - I know why! But I will admit, they ALL had their "salespitch" rehearsed. Dont even bother getting an estimate from them - call ANYONE else.
DO NOT USE MILTON FRANK PLUMBING.
I have a mobile home and had a 1/2 inch PVC elbow (75 cent part) disconnect under the house. Since I was out of state at the time and have someone renting the house I had to find a plumber to replace the elbow fitting. I've done much plumbing before and know that this repair takes no more than 30 minutes, including having to go under the house to get to the piece (10 feet crawl/crouch). Milton Frank was punctual about having a guy at the house within an hour. Once the guy got to the house he said it would cost $250 for him to go under the house (10 feet) to see what's wrong. Then he said it would cost approximately $350 to replace up to 10 feet of pipe, but remember I only needed one 75 cent part replaced. I was absolutely flabergasted over the fee of $600 to replace one tiny part of PVC. I called the owner of the company who said he could charge me more appropriately after the technician was able to see exactly what was bad, so I agreed. Forty-five minutes later the tech was finished and charged my $590. WOW, what a deal. This is the most ridiculus highway robbery I've ever encountered. Had the dispatcher told me about the fees when I initially called I would have definately found someone else. DO NOT USE MILTON FRANK PLUMBING UNLESS YOU LOVE THROWING MONEY AWAY. THEY ARE EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. GET SOMEONE ELSE. All plumbers use the same parts, and in this situation, a one-eyed monkey could have performed the repair successfully.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. The part they replaced failed the very same day. Now I have to call tomorrow morning to have them come back to fix their fix. I'm curious to see if they will charge me again. I have a feeling the tech will tell me that some other part now needs to be replaced, just like a auto mechanic, and want to charge me for a new full repair. If they do, my next call will be the BB Bureau, then off to small claims court.
not the cheapest, but honest and professional.
I recommend them and will call them to do my plumbing again
he offered a service plan that saved me some money.
