"Good" to see that HGC has not changed. I have not shopped their stores in over 10 years. I went to the store on FM 1960 in Humble to buy some mulch that was on sale. Told the cashier how many bags I wanted (something like 20). Got out my wallet and gave her the credit card and then reach in my pocket for the coupon. She informed me that I should have given her the coupon first since she had already completed the sale. Told her to void and re-run; said they had no way to do that and that I must sign the sales slip. Pulled out my cell phone and started calling the number on the card. She asked what I was doing and I told her I was calling the credit card company. She then called a supervisor who told me the same thing. By now I am going thru the menu to reach a person with the credit card. Well she proceeded to cancel the sale. Said she would re-run using the coupon; I said ‘no thanks’. A lot person was already loading the mulch in my truck. I returned and told him to unload the material. I had previously had problems but after this decided “never go there again”.
CROOKS!!. The new Kingwood store is now open and is as SORRY as all of the rest. Purchased Nitro-Phos Weed & Feed 15-5-10 fertilizer and noticed it did not help my yard. Called Nitro-Phos in Houston and Christine stated " Yes we had a batch that did not contain the right ingredients, so take it back for a refund". Guess what??? Houston Garden Ctr Kingwood or any of them if that matters will not give a REFUND or EXCHANGE!!!! All Sales Are Final she said!! Please Do not Shop there. I never will!!!
Its the exact same problem at ALL locations!.
I might appear to be a "dumb white girl", but I am actually Hispanic. Unbeknownst to THE RUDEST employees I've EVER seen ANYWHERE, I speak and understand Spanish. The cashier, we'll just call her "Maria", her supervisor and some other ignorant employee apparently didn't realize that when they were cussing about me in Spanish amongst themselves.
If they want to stop appearing to be ignorant undocumented workers, then management should prohibit them from speaking Spanish to one another in front of customers. Especially since they appear to be incapable of conducting themselves in a professional manner ie. not using the word "pinche" (Note to HGC employees: Yes, even white people know what that word means).
Regardless of whether they are speaking English to you to your face OR cussing about you amongst themselves in Spanish, they have THE WORST customer relations skills I've EVER seen ANYWHERE! People like that make me ashamed to admit that I am Hispanic.
A word of advice, DON'T shop at ANY HGC locations if you know Spanish, not unless you like being cussed or are looking for a reason to end up in a fist fight with an "idiota" or two...or three....or four. It's really THAT bad!
Don't go!! Don't bother!!. Doing business with this company at this location is just not worth it! Hardly anyone speaks english and very little help is offered. One time I tried to buy 3 4" pots of begonias--they wouldn't sell them to me....told me I had to buy the entire flat. I left them at the register. I don't know how they stay in business. ICE would have a field day there!!!!
