Pappas discriminates, but not just the way you think!.
During the Christmas Season, my husband and I went to Pappas Seafood and had the worst experience. It was our first time there and will be our last. We dressed nicely, not what might be considered Christmas colors, but still very nice. We were told there was a 20 minute wait, no problem, we gave the hostess our name and took our place in line. 20 minutes later, no tables available, yet. 30 minutes, we notice they are seating people who came in after us. 35 minutes, I confront the hostess and miraculously a table has "just been freed up"! While waiting for our server, my husband and I talked about what had just occurred. We made notice of the people who were wrongly seated before us, they were in Christmas attire. As the night went on, we were also slighted by our server. We had to ask for refills, usually twice, before our drinks were refreshed and we shouldn't have had to ask, period! At one point, the server walked by, acknowledged that we need refills and never brought them. We asked for condiments, were told they would be right out, never did see them. I asked for a drink from the bar and never got it, either.
All because we weren't dressed "Christmasy".... Those who were, got the service they wanted, while we couldn't even get the service we deserved!! Next day, I called the corporate office and told the gentleman of our experience and he acted as if their employees would absolutely not act in such a manner. When I told him that we spent well over $100.00 and would not be back, he then offered me a gift card for "our trouble". When it came in the mail, it was worth $25.00! I was floored! We didn't order a lot of things, it's just that this restaurant is expensive and I wasn't asking for a hand out, but I didn't deserve that slap in the face, either and that's a gift card that won't be used to prove I meant what I said.... We will not be discriminated against and take it with a smile and a thank you, sir!! There are better places to eat in our area that won't discriminate against you because of the color of your clothing!!
If we had received the service that we deserved, our server would have gotten tipped more than that gift card was worth. We are, in fact, generous tippers because we do appreciate good service.
Take Out. On June 12, 2011 I had dinner at Pappas and ordered stuff shrimp. Excellent! Decided to do a take out on Monday and it was worst I had in my life. Do they have the same cook on Sunday as Monday? The stuff shrimp was raw and small, the bake potato was burned. Do not do take out. I think they put the food they can not sell in the restaurant in the take out bags.
Pappa's Seafood House CCGAnubys's Review.
Here's the deal: This place has very good food, no lie, but some things worry me. I worked on this place for almost a year and there is something I gotta confess. The salmon they use are at least 6-7 months old, I am saying this because I was the one who use to take care of them. They put it in the display at front for a few months and put mineral oil on it so it can look good. Then after 6-7 months when it's already starting to smell, they cook it so it won't rot. The servers seem very educated and clean but backstage they get everything with their bare hands and they never even wash their hands. The managers treat the employees like crap, I'm saying this because I worked there and experienced it myself. My mom got pushed by the manager and then she quit cause of it. I never was allowed to have lunch breaks and one day when I have one, after being done with all orders, the manager pushed me, threw my food to the ground and screamed at me. After that I quit as well. The service is awful and they will only treat you right if you PAY right. Its my opinion and the truth, I recommend not going here, they're all a bunch of racists who only care about the money.

Save youself a trip to Louisiana for Great seafood. LOVE IT love it love it! nice bar, great staff, super food. I am from LA and when I get homesick... I stop in for a bowl of gumbo, oysters, and a hurricane! The portions are huge and the pices reasonable.
IAH Quality Seafood. This place has exceptional qualtiy seafood in the IAH area. Service and portions are always comendable. It is a little pricy, however, the overall exprerience is a very good value.
Papas Seafood House.
Be prepared to fork up some cash when dining at Papas Seafood House. Entrees alone for just two people can run you up about $55 without the tip added to the bill. With an appetizer and alcoholic drinks, please remeber to bring at least a Bejamin ($100). Talk
about this chain restaurant charging almost the same as a fine dining restaurant.
Too Greasy. Ate here 11-23-02 was not up to it's normal great food. Was real Greasy.
