Jon Chao is Awesome!. My stylist was Jon Chao and he did an awesome job. I highly recommend him. He really listens to what you say and knows how to improvise the haircut you want to fit your face and lifestyle. He cuts your hair dry. I am really picky about my hair and am extremely obsessed with the way it looks. Jon Chao did a fabulous job. I am able to style my hair within a few minutes and I can style it many different ways. He also gives great hair advice.
Big change, Big Happiness. So I randomly woke up the other day and decided to cut my long hair off and donate it to charity. I looked online and saw that Cutloose had good reviews. I called thinking I wasn't goin to get in, but I DID!!!! I was scheduled with Terri. She took her time talking to me and listened to exactly what I wanted. She was patient with me, knowing I was cutting off 14 inches off my hair. I really apprecited it. The cut turned out awesome and I am so thankful Terri did it for me!!! I don't think I will ever have long hair again!!! Thanks Terri!!!
Best haircut ever!. I read an article a few years ago about Cut Loose and was unhappy with my current stylist so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. Cut Loose is not a fussy salon, it's a straight forward, urban atmosphere with creative stylists frequented by all types of people. I am mid 40's, West U mom, and for the first time in my life love my haircuts and color. I also appreciate the fact that I have never had to wait, they all adhere to their schedules and do not overbook. I highly recommend Cut Loose.
BEST SALON FOR EDGY HAIR CUTS AND CORPORATE TYPES ! ! !.
If you are looking for an edgy, chic, trendy, timeless or modern classic hair cut....Cut Loose is the place to go. I work in the fashion industry, travel around the country, work in NYC Fashion Week every season and have worked around some celebreties etc. When I discovered Cut Loose few years ago, I feel like I was in one of the top salons in NYC, LA or Miami...just to give you some vibe about this place it is industrial-modern with an amazing friendly-relaxing atmosphere (from the receptionist to the shampoo girl).
Their talent and artistry skills are just fabulous and versatile! I have some friends in the Corporate Finance field (totally different than my field), but they love Cut Loose, as much as I do.
As Paris Hilton told me once "your hair cut is hot" at The Ritz Carlton Central Park in NYC. You will feel Hot!!! after a hair cut from Cut Loose!!!
This is a Salon that You have to try it at least once in your life!!!!!
Why y'all fussin? I loved this place....
I went into Cut Loose on a Saturday afternoon and got a haircut. Chad was my stylist and did a fantabulous job. His attention to detail and his patience in explaining what he was doing was great. The haircut I got was probably the best I've ever have - my hair had noticeably better texture and I felt it was just a better haircut all the way around. Chad was personable and fun and I've recommended him to several friends already. The other people I experienced in a salon were all friendly and helpful.
The salon is very Montrose -- eclectic and a little different. It fits the neighborhood and is perfectly situated next to similarly Montrose-y places like Agora and Brazil. I suppose if you're looking for a snooty place, this isn't for you. Other salons make you feel like they're doing you a favor to acknowledge you or they push too hard in selling products. That never happened with me and I'll definitely be back.
ugly salon..good haircut!. i went to cut loose a few weeks ago for my first time and the salon was a little ugly and trashy looking. Im used to more upscale, spa atmospheres but I had heard good things about this place, so i gave it a try. all the stylits were in jeans and t shirts..and they didnt really have stations either, there is a mirror glued on the wall that you face and some wire drawers for their brushes, combs and flat irons. Anyways, Brandon was my stylist and he gave me an excellent cut! i really do like it and he only has 3 years experience. although he does not wash hair well, it was very quick (maybe 2 minutes) and no scalp massage. Overall, if all you want is a good cut and not worried about relaxing or being in a private station than this place is great for you! Otherwise, go to Trellis, Azura, or Cerons.
overrated. I hate to write a review, but this place is way over rated. It seems to be banking on it's building's architecture, and certainly not on the owner's expertise. I'm a guy, and I had shoulder length hair that I was finally ready to cut off. I made an appointment with the owner, for what I thought would be a cool short cut. When I got there, I was still very nervous about the whole idea, but the shampoo girl and the owner both made me feel very comfortable, and I am grateful for that. However, while she was cutting my hair, she proceeded to tell me how sick she was. I really didn't want to hear that halfway through a hair cut. I had given her several pictures of what I wanted, and she seemed to not understand that I wanted something as close as possible to the picture. She didn't cut the sides short enough, despite me asking her to cut it shorter several times. When I went to pay, the receptionist was too busy looking at pictures online and talking to her friends to ring me up. I waited there awkwardly for a few moments before she held her hand out for my money without actually telling me how much it was. She never made eye contact with me. When I got home, I noticed that my hair cut wasn't even. The right side is considerably longer than the left. Maybe she was off her game, but when you have a customer who trusts you to cut 8 inches off your head; you need to step it up a notch. I have to find another place to fix what she did. I'm not happy about that. I am never going there again.
Seeing a new stylist is much like a first date, sometimes it takes more than one visit for the communication to flow smoothly enough for a stylist to understand exactly what the client wants. In situations when a client asks for such a dramatic change, usually we do suggest "sitting on it" for a day or so then calling for a follow up visit if the style needs additional tweaking. We will always do whatever it takes to ensure our client's satisfaction.
At the front desk, our staff is always multi-tasking; answering the phone, checking out clients, and numerous other duties. On the day in question, we were looking over photos from a recent fundraiser in order to add to our website. We apologize if you felt awkward and ignored, a busy salon is sometimes difficult to manage and actions can be misinterpreted.
In defence and sanity of the planet. I have just logged on to write a review on Cut Loose and I can't believe someone would write such a distasteful review as the one I just read. A rather awful portrayal of the salon along with her rather ambitious screen name has compelled me to respond, I have found the receptionist there to be nothing but the best. She has always greeted me with a smile whether in person or over the phone. It's sad to see that some consumers choose to leave such a big carbon footprint in the world and expect others to follow suit. Common sense would surely conclude that the reason why the receptionist asked if she would like a bag or not, is not because she was rude or lazy, but because she is doing her part to make this world a little cleaner.....most people would rather not see another bag added to the ever increasing land fills dotted around the City. A simple.. "yes I would like a bag would have sufficed". I see no need in having to abuse the receptionist or the establishment on the internet. My advice to this chick, is to take heart from her screen name and try to deal with situations as they arise not use the rather timid-chick way and write slanderous reviews after the fact!!!
Seems to be going downhill, grumpy receptionist, ok haircut. This is my second time at Cutloose after a more memorable first experience, standards seem to be some what declining. When my stylist was booked the receptionist did not offer to search for openings. She was unhelpful, unfriendly and generally not interested. After purchasing seveal bottles of products (I tend to stock up), she asked if I wanted a bag, erm no, balancing them on my forehead is far more convienent! Of course I needed a bag. It seemed like it was far too much effort to roll her chair back a few inches and reach up to get a bag. The haircut was mediocre at best, however at least the stylist was friendly and made an effort. I won't be going back, and PLEASE get better receptionists that don't give off the vibe of "what do you want?" attitude
Our standard procedure at CutLoose is to offer alternatives when your regular stylist is booked. We apologize if this was not the case in your situation. As for the bag, most of our clients tend to be more environmentally sensitive therefore we never assume whether or not a bag is necessary. We always ask and allow the client to decide.
We pride ourselves on our customer service that has kept us in business for the past 26 years and sincerely apologize for your negative experience.
Teri Rules!. Teri has been doing my hair for years and I'm always satisfied... Cut, color, highlights whatever! I get compliments ALL the time and highly recommend her and any other cut loose stylist. This place rules!
