I came.I saw.I left.. I went to NAN and the staff was very rude. It seems the store would do better business and generate more revenue if the staff was trained on how to work with the public. I guess the staff at NAN doesn’t need potential customers. I went in to the store and asked for helped and 3 times I was brushed off. I decided to take my money over to Bedrocks comics on Washington (where I invested 386.54) and became a member of their store.NAN is over priced for the same merchandise you can order online or get somewhere else at a cheaper price. I wont go back to NAN ever again.

Rude & Unorganized, but has a Great Selection.. Nan's is neither the best Houston has to offer nor the worst.

In terms of selection, Nan's comes in at about average with a few exceptions. Despite having an average selection of comics and graphic novels, Nan's does carry one of the largest and most diverse manga selections in Houston. Nan's also carries some of the rarer titles and collectibles, but is probably more renowned for it's large selection of gaming related products. The best thing about coming here is the fact that they tend to carry things no one else has.

Despite it's selection, the store is not as well organized as the owner would like to think. It goes about as far as having the games on one side and the comics on the other. The owner doesn't really seem to be too aware of his inventory either and gives only the most general directions, so customers can expect to spend long periods of time searching for what they're looking for.

Another issue I've seen here is that the owner seems to be consistently rude to his customers. I have not only experienced some pretty rude and discourteous treatment here, but I have also seen worse treatment given to other customers.

Finally, despite it's selection the prices are very inconsistent. Although some items do in fact have labels, most don't and it seems like they just try to guess at the price when it hits the register. This can sometimes result in customers making huge savings, but in many cases it also means that they may find themselves greatly overcharged.

Overall, I would recommend this place for it's selection. However, the negatives here tend to outweigh the positives and I could not recommend this place to everyone. Nan's is worth visiting if you are in the area and know what you are looking for and/or plan to also visit other nearby stores.

rude staff. Great selection of games and good location. Unfortunately when I brought my sons there to look at the games, the employee was extremely rude to us. Our crime? We were waiting for the employee to open the store, and one of my kids tried to open the door before he unlocked it. He popped his head out and snottily told us the hours were posted on the door. thanks dude, we get it. We left and I have never gone back, though I have spent hundreds there. I now go to 3rd planet and bedrock.

Nan's is awesome.. Nan's is like the crazy attic of comic stores. I hate hate HATE stores where you can't browse through the pages of comics and everything's sterile and in sleeves and the owner's all snobby and the toys are behind glass *cough* Third Planet *cough* If it's a fandom, Nan's has stuff related to it. If you tell the staff a comic you like, they can pop back with really intelligent recommendations. Indie stuff? Local stuff? No problem. With gadgets and statues and knick-knacks going straight up to the walls, it's like a dragon's treasure cave. I always make a point to buy something when I go in so I can support such a shrine of nerd-geek awesomeness. Long live Nan's.

Not The Best, But Not The Worst!. There are many comic book stores scattered throughout Houston. Stores that come to mind include Midnight Comics, Bedrock City Comics, Third Planet, and Nan's Games & Comics. Each Houston-based store has its fair share of positives and negatives. For one, although Midnight Comics opens until midnight six days a week, it has the weakest selection of items. And even though Bedrock City Comics doesn't have that large of a selection, it is the cleanest and most organized. And although Third Planet has a larger selection of comics and memorabilia than any other store, it is the most unorganized.

However, unlike some of the better stores (Bedrock and TP), Nan's negatives outweigh its positives. One of the store's positives is the fact that it has the largest selection of board games out of any Houston-based comic book shop. Furthermore, the store opens later than most comic book stores (9 PM instead of 7 PM). However, the store does not come without its negatives. For one, the store is the most overpriced comic book store in Houston. I do not know anyone who would pay $10 for a 2 in. Homer Simpson bobble head. Secondly, the store is not as neatly organized as the owner thinks it is. Just because the store is organized into two sections (the left side, gaming, and the right side, comics), does not mean each section is organized. Because it's not!

So in conclusion, there are better comic book stores out there for Houstonians to explore. You could do better (but you could also do worse)!

A fantasy-and-comic emporium exudes wisdom beyond the pages of its merchandise.. The Scene
This fantasy-and-comic emporium may spark the fancy of even a non-enthusiast. As classical music pours from overhead, shoppers wander the curio-packed aisles that are as stimulating as a well-decorated home. Even the guy at the counter is a sight: a gentle Gandalf type, towering over the register with his long, drifting beard.

The Goods
A galleria for the Middle Earth crowd, Nan's is the go-to place for pricey, full-sized swords with names like Glamdring and Witch King. Dungeons and Dragons folk will also find their accouterments here, including publications such as "Dragon" magazine. Most charming about Nan's, though, is the wide range of other cult favorites--the best being a rocking Zippo lighter with Betty Page dressed as Satan, and "Where the Wild Things Are" figurines that any kid or adult will instantly crave.
