Rumpled but accommodating, this watering hole on the edge of River Oaks can change its character as necessary.. In Short
Squeezed between affluent River Oaks and ultra-corporate Greenway Plaza, Lizzard's is an oasis for those weary of wealth, power and pretense. Not quite a dive, it has a decidedly "lived-in" quality. If you're into fashion statements and trendy drinks, this pub, with its lizard-y green walls, is not for you. The chief attraction of Lizzard's is its extremely accommodating nature and variety of clientele.

Comfortable, like an old friend.... As there are only two reviews and one is three years old, I felt it neccessary to set the record straight. This great neighborhood bar has an eclectic, friendly group of regulars on one side of the counter and on the other, a staff more welcoming than your grandma. If they're not busy, the bartenders are happy to discuss anything and everything from the Astros to The Desperate Housewives. They keep things lively with regular themed parties, dart leagues and a weekly Monday night "White Boy Dance Off." It's a great place to unwind after work or meet up with friends for a Saturday night out.

apathetic. apathetic is generally how I'd describe the staff at Lizzards. the kind of service you'd get probably depends on whether or not the staff likes the looks of you or not, and they seem mostly to be there for their own amusement/at their own leisure, to rephrase a comment by the previous reviewer. I'm in the 25-30 age group and I didn't find the service there much more impressive. Also was disappoited that they don't serve sandwiches, apparently it's limited to snack foods. I do enjoy the atmosphere of the place, very laid back but in a nice part of town, kind of tucked away in a residential area. Atmosphere is the only reason I may go back.
