Ziggys on Main Street... the Worst food and service EVER! – This was the worst food and service that I think I have ever received. The claim to be a healthy grill is far from the truth.
My family visited Ziggys this afternoon, arriving about 220pm with an intent to have plenty of time to order drinks and food to be at our show by 4pm.
There were few customers in the facility, we were greeted on our way in and told to find a seat. We seated ourselves and waited more than five minutes for the waiter to come and take our drink order and another 20 minutes just to get our drinks. Not to mention they don't have the advertised happy hour beer on tap and didn't offer to substitute it. We placed our orders and waited another 35 minutes before receiving our food. I even asked one of the other waitresses how long it would be as we "had to be at a show at 4pm" as our waiter had not even been over to check on us. We had two orders for Ribeyes, they were supposed to be 8oz med-rare and medium with both of them being more than well done, not to mention they were only about 1/4inch thick and tasted absolutely horrible. My husband ordered meatloaf that looked and tasted like dogfood right out of a can. I ordered a quesadilla that was soggy. Again, this had to be the worst food and service. I had to stop another female waitress to summons our waiter to get us drinks as he never even came over to ask if we need anything else during our wait but rather he was over socializing with a co-worker. When our food arrived I asked for the check and again asked for the check about 5minutes later. I didn't receive the check so I went up to our waiter who was again socializing with a co-worker. When he went to ring up my order, I advised him that I would not be leaving a tip as this was the absolute worst service I had ever received not to mention I had to "ask for drinks" and the food was horrible, although I did acknowledge the taste of food was not entirely his fault, although it his his responsibility to ensure it is cooked and served properly and timely. Upon our leaving the resturant as we are walking by the window, he slams his fist against the window. My daughter goes back into the restuarant to question his banging his fist against the window and he said we didn't leave a tip, she asked to speak to the manager and he informed us he was the manager... if they have managers like that... then I know the quality of the service and food will not improve until he is long gone. SO, if your are the owner... you may want to check out your staff at the Ziggy's in Houston on Main Street... he needs to be replaced immediately!
LOVE Ziggy's! – Both of the Ziggy's locations are cool. Fun to go downtown after walking and biking Buffalo Bayou and to the Montrose location for comfortable/quaint atmosphere. Great menu selection and tasty entrees. The buffalo burger is delish and the pork chop special is thick and tender yummo to the max! Still so many things I want to try. It 's so easy to "be good", yet feel so satisfied with a flavorful feast. Love, love, love being able to order steamed veggies and the freshest of fresh fruit at a restaurant. Also nice to be able to enjoy some chips and salsa with a beer--less guilt of course with baked chips!! As you can probably tell by now, I honestly love Ziggy's!!
Citysearch Editorial Review – By subbing turkey for beef and wheat for white, the second outpost of this health-minded eatery manages to produce a long menu of good-for-you meal options.
It's like a healthy black eyed pea – They have free internet, there's never a wait, and i feel very comfortable eating there by myself. very american food, but with some healthy twists. the queso is awesome i've never had any service issues
Used to be so good... – I also used to love Ziggy's -- I lived near here a few years ago and came all the time. I went this week for the first time since 2007 and was sorely disappointed. The food was still pretty good (although I missed the free chips!), but the addition of wait staff has actually caused a decline in service. I've never felt so rushed, and like I was such a bother to a wait staff. Plus, one of the nice things about Ziggy's was that it was healthier food at a decent price -- with the addition of an expected tip, it's not such a hot deal.
Ziggy's, I used to love you! Please change back to the lovely place you used to be...
Basura – basura - meaning trash
Horrible food and terrible service
1 star - place looked decent
Used to love - not so much anymore – I absolutely adored this place for its casual atmosphere and great healthy food. The last two times I have gone and have been seriously disappointed. Fist, they are no longer counter service, they have waiters. Second, it seems that some of the ingredients have been changed. For instance, the nachos, which I adored before, seem to use a different kind of cheese that is not near as good. That or the quality of the cooking has just gone down. One more drawback - no more free chips which was a nice touch. BUT, I do still love their brownies!
Good Food, Really Bad Service – The food here is good and the menu interesting. The problem is with the service :( I have been to both locations and would have to say that it's been some of the worst service I have received in this city. It's unfortunate cause I really like it and would like to go back but it's so annoying when you get such bad service repeatedly at a place. I have worked in the industry and I know when someone is in the weeds and when someone just doesn't care unfortunately at Ziggy's its the latter.
Need to try again – The food the first time we went was average at best but I'm willing to try their food again.
Great food, great prices – I saw the good reviews and decided to give this place a try. The food was great, the place was clean, and the staff was very friendly. One staff membered offered up great suggestions for dinner. I can't wait to try the brunch menu one weekend.
