We love Poki. Their food is great, I have tried alot of different Thai places and it doesn't compare to Thai Pepper. Also Poki the server is amazing, he knows what my cousins and I want with out saying anything. He pays attention to little details and that's what keeps us coming back again and again.
best home made ice cream. Visiting from Austin for the weekend and always on the look for independently owned, local joints. The Thai Pepper... "definitely made us hot"! The lime beef salad was tasty and the coconut ice cream and fried bananas were a complimentary way to end a HOT meal. The wait staff were courteous and generous. Just the right amount of attention. Will definitely return on our next visit.
Delicious!. This restaurant will amaze you from the time you step through the door and you will leave feeling very satisfied. The food is authentic and delicious and we always have a good time. We go several times a month . Anytime we have friends or family in from out of town we say, "We have to take you to Thai Pepper!" and they are always impressed. We have tried a lot of restaurants and have very few favorites- This is one the favorites! Enjoy!
Prepare to be impressed!. I rarely bother to write reviews but Thai Pepper is so good that it is well worth the effort! It is one of our absolute favorite restaurants and the ONLY Thai restaurant we will go to now because the other thai restaurants in Houston can't hold a candle to this cuisine. I crave several different unique meals on the menu and always have a hard time deciding because they are all so tasty. You will be impressed by the well-mannered waitstaff as well. I can truly say that this restaurant is perfect for any occassion- a date (it's very romantic and cozy), a celebration or if you just feel like a nice relaxing dinner. If you desire exquisite fare, extraordinary service and an exceptional experience, go straight to Thai Pepper. Five stars!
My choice thai place in the area. I'm not a Thai expert by any means, but we really enjoy this place. My girlfriend and I tried it on a whim and have gone back a number of times now. The outside is not "fancy", but inside is nice and pretty romantic. She likes the pad thai and I like the drunken noodles...It's one of those places I have cravings for!
incredible curry, friendly service!!. We love the curry chicken, Thai tea and the mango with sticky rice is a must! One of our favorite places for Sunday night take-out.
great thai food.
I totally don't agree with the earlier negative review--sounds like someone needs to go to anger management. And by the way, you actually don't put milk in thai tea or coffee, you DO use condensed milk. So if the waiter looked confused, he was probably trying to be polite about his customer's ignorance.
For as long as I've lived in Houston (over a decade), Thai Pepper has been one of my favorite places to eat--it is owned by a first-generation Thai family, and the food is very good. The curries are delicious--the green chicken curry is great if you like spicy dishes-- and I've always been happy with the service.
A quick and easy lunch choice, near the increasingly busy South Shepherd corridor..
In Short
No cuisine tantalizes more with the interplay of sweet and salty, crisp and smooth, hot and mild than Thai. For simply living up to those traditions, Teal Anomaiprasert's Thai Pepper is worth trying. Among the menu's winners: Handsomely presented appetizer plates, milky chicken soup that plays off the yin-yang of hot and sour and pad thai with its glass noodles and bits of egg, shrimp and bean curd.
Best Thai Food Inside the Loop. This dimly lit spot has become a favorite of mine. I have never had a bad experience when eating here and the waitstaff actually knows me so well all I have to do is sit down and they will automatically bring me a side of peanut sauce- before I've even ordered. The food is amazing- the prices are completely reasonable (lunch specials as low as 6.95!) and the ambience is relaxing as well as romantic. I urge you to give Thai Pepper a chance because once you try it- you'll never go anywhere else.
Great food, inexpensive. Thai Pepper is quite good, although it is important that you know what you like and what you do not like. Their menu items are either hit or miss, which has been my personal experience. Service is very good although one of the waitresses did not understand what I wanted because she could not speak English, which is fine, but it hindered the time in which I was able to receive what I wanted.
