Editorial Review for Thai Pepper – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
No cuisine tantalizes more with the interplay of sweet and salty, crisp and smooth, hot and mild than Thai. For simply living up to those traditions, Teal Anomaiprasert's Thai Pepper is worth trying. Among the menu's winners: Handsomely presented appetizer plates, milky chicken soup that plays off the yin-yang of hot and sour and pad thai with its glass noodles and bits of egg, shrimp and bean curd.

I love Thai food, but this has to be the absolute worst Thai meal I have ever tasted. If a prison decided to serve inmates Thai food, this is what it would taste like. All that is missing here are the metal trays. Judging from previous reviews, something has gone seriously wrong with this place. Thai pepper? What peppers?? I found myself adding heaping spoonfuls of chili sauce to both of the bland dishes I ordered. Not only was the fare tasteless, but looking for meat and/or vegetables in the Royal Noodle dish is like searching for a needle in a haystack. All in all, I actually found about 3 scrawny pieces of beef. The withered garnish of parsley amounted to more veggies on my plate than the soy-sauce-drenched piece of broccoli I managed to find. Their so called "Curry Chicken" was basically watery slop consisting of a grey soupy mixture of bamboo shoots, and one slimy piece of basil. Oh yeah, I think there was a chicken sliver or two. To top it all off, while trying to wash down this skimpy meal, I noticed the water glass I had been drinking out of had a ring of dried milk or some other mysterious white substance on the inside. Good thing I had my sour glass of wine to console me. I will NEVER again eat at this restaurant. The only thing that could be worse would be to wake up tonight with my head hanging over the toilet. Fingers crossed... I have never felt the need to write a bad review, but after my experience tonight, I felt the need to warn the unsuspecting Thai Pepper patrons.
