“loved this restaurant, not only did it have a perfect atmosphere and friendly wait staff, but the food was absolutely delicious!”
“not bad, but nothing great, except maybe the steak soup and the cheesecake.”
“If you get a meat craving, and don't want to spend $30+ per person on a meal, then Salt Grass is a good option; just don't order coffee with your meal!”
“This is an excellent restaurant and the steak is good for the price.”
“The menu is very extensive and the beef is pure Angus.”
“real nice place.”

“Overall, this restaurant is a good value with good food, anytime you go.”
“We went to Taste of Texas on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon, early at 6pm and after driving around the parking lot for several minutes found the wait to be two hours.”
STAY AWAY. SEVERE FOOD ILLNESS from the veggies. Stay far away from this place until they get it figured out.
Average steaks, average service.
We tried, we tried so hard to get a hot cup of coffee with our meal. It just wouldn't come. 2 attempts at a refill, both were lukewarm. Sigh.
Why do we go here? Some friends wanted steak (we're not big on it ourselves), and most of the steak places are just too expensive for our taste. So, Salt Grass is reasonably priced. You get what you pay for - but honestly, you can get a good steak here. Good sides too. Just sometimes the service is a miss. And, there's no lamb on the menu? Why not?

Treated us right for a change. Went here the other night for steaks near closing time. The staff was very friendly and ready to treat us right. Me and my buddy enjoyed our steaks and everything else on the menu . The waiter was super cool named Memphis "What a cool name" and he treated us right. I really enjoyed everything. The last couple times I went my buddy would get a really fatty steak that was gross but I will be coming back in the future. I don't really like the steaks at outback anyway.
A comfortable, unpretentious family steakhouse with a strong Texas flavor..
In Short
The setting is homey and pure Texas, including the Hill Country-style stonework along the entranceway. The service can be a little erratic, but the reasonably priced and well-cooked fare makes up for it. Steak and prime rib are not the only specialities here. They also have great potatoes, including the baked-potato soup, and more Texas-sized options including the two-fork cheesecake and the addictive Shiner Bock beer bread.
Do not eat the steak.
Probably having dined there 5 times, i will only go when a friend wants to have the range rattlers. I have NEVER had a good steak there. I have always had to cut around or remove from my muth pices of sinewy gristle. If I go back(and its been over two years) I will eat their appt. only.
PD CFS is good though.
Real Beef for Real People. Never been disappointed with any Saltgrass that I have tried. Always cooked as requested the first time, always juicy, always as tender as baby food always taste great and always friendly service. There is no reason to have steak anywhere else. The price is about right for the size of serving making it a good value.
Damn that was good. Excellent Service, very fast, good appearence, exspensive but you get more than you pay for. but still affordable for normal people
Great Food -- Great Price. This is an excellent restaurant and the steak is good for the price.
should get arrested for imitating a stea. after a great salad it was all downhill. steak was tasteless. so bad we would not go back even with a $10 savings coupon. NOt even for free. Now that is bad! The servers were young and dumb. We got the impression if you were a mental catagory 4, you would fit in well here.
Good value -- Yucky service!. Salt Grass is one of my favorite places for steaks. The quality of the food always meets my expectations. The service, on the other hand, is always blase at best! I have complained on several occassions about the wait staff, but it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference. I would probably go there more often if service were better
